Early Show Goes Pink
(CBS)
Friday is National Mammography Day, as Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues.
As part of The Early Show's "Early Awareness" campaign, we had a mobile mammography van on our plaza during the entire course of the show, providing free screenings, and we offered word on where women can get free or low-cost mammograms in their areas.
In addition, we did a "pink product roundup" of items whose sales, in part, benefit various breast cancer charities.
The bottom line: Breast cancer, which will claim about 40,000 lives this year, is curable if caught early enough.
