Palm Beach Post: FBI To Investigate Mahoney
(The Politico)
An unamed source told The Palm Beach Post Tuesday night that the FBI will investigate embattled Rep. Tim Mahoney to see if the lawmaker used campaign funds to pay off a mistress.
“FBI agents Tuesday reached out to several major players in the sex scandal that has ensnared Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney,” the paper reported.
The source told the paper that late Tuesday that the head of the anti-corruption unit of the FBI’s West Palm Beach branch spoke with the lawyer of Mahoney’s alleged ex-mistress, Patricia Allen.
“I can guarantee you that the FBI will bring in a half dozen people, former staffers of Mahoney, friends of his,” a source told the paper.
Both Mahoney’s spokesman and Allen’s lawyer declined to comment on the story.
