McCain Hits Obama On Record Vs. Rhetoric

Republican Candidates Say Democrat Is Just Trying To "Talk His Way Into The White House"

Some call him a hero, some a maverick. Will Americans call him Mr. President?

  • Photo Essay Sarah Palin

Alaska's youngest and first female governor tabbed to be McCain's running mate.

(AP)  Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin questioned on Wednesday whether Barack Obama's record matched his rhetoric as they sought to sow doubt about the Democratic presidential candidate.

Speaking to a rowdy crowd of supporters in this eastern Pennsylvania town, McCain and Palin both challenged Obama's campaign claims. Dismissing Obama as just "a guy who's just tried to talk his way into the White House," vice presidential candidate Palin said the Democrats' ideas are stale and dangerous.

"He's not willing to drill for energy, but he's sure willing to drill for votes," Palin said, eliciting cheers of "Drill, baby, drill" from the crowd, which often interrupted the candidates during their joint appearance.

McCain's remarks about Obama were interrupted with shouts of "socialist," "terrorist" and "liar." At another time, a man in the bleaches shouted "No more ACORN," referring to a group that registers poor voters.

"We've all heard what he's said. But it's less clear what he's done, or what he will do," McCain said.

The crowd replied with chants, "Nobama."

Similarly, Palin said there were too many questions about Obama's past: "John McCain didn't just come out of nowhere. The American people know John McCain."

Advisers say the Republican ticket will continue this forceful tone as the campaign enters its final month. Obama leads in national and state polls; McCain is looking for a way to change that.

"Which candidate's experience, in government and in life, makes him a more reliable leader for our country and commander in chief for our troops?" McCain said. "In short, who is ready to lead?"

McCain's speech centered on policies that would help the working class voters in this region where the race is close. Obama lost Pennsylvania's Democratic primary to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and has struggled to connect with the white, working-class voters he once said cling to guns and religion in times of economic uncertainty.

"What Sen. Obama says today and what he has done in the past are often two different things," McCain said.

Citing taxes, health care and energy, McCain appealed to voters' pocketbooks and lingering doubts about Obama.

"Who is the real Sen. Obama?" McCain said, repeating a line he debuted on Monday in New Mexico, another state he needs to win White House. "Is he the candidate who promises to cut middle class taxes, or the politician who voted to raise middle class taxes?"

Sarah Palin and John McCain have lost all moral authority and moral compass. They are close to inciting riots (and there are indeed laws against that) at their campaign rallies, where they clearly succeed in only one thing--character assassination and lying that leads their die-hard extremist fans to conclude that a respected U.S. Senator is a terrorist. Shouts are heard at these rallies that suggest lynch mobs and mob rule--"Kill him!" their crowd shouts, and "Terrorist!"

Shame on you, Sarah, shame on you, John. There is a special circle of hell reserved for those guilty of calumny and slander. Your candidacies have lost all credibility and relevance, and you have become dangerous terrorists yourselves.

To McCain:
In the words of Joseph N. Welch-- ''You''''ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?''

his is funny-- Within the past 6 weeks--McCain made Republicans embrace a former mistress as potential first lady, illegitimate teen pregnancy, an Airhead for a VP and now they must embrace socialism and helping out the poor with a 300+ billion dollar mortgage bailout--before its over, the Republican party will seem more liberal than the Democrats and the Republicans have to swallow it--because he is all that they have.

Paying for a public bailout, ignoring subpoenas, then supporting airhead females for VP and championing pregger teens indeed--what were those conservative values again? Hypocrites.

If you want to be taken seriously, a few suggestions:

1-Kill the caps key

2-Learn to spell

3-Get your information from more credible sources than the anti-Obama spam that is filling up your emailbox

Sallievoter...I love how you have to exaggerate to try and get your point across. If us OBAMA HATERS are so bad, why do you have to exaggerate, why can''''t you just say what we said.

IF YOU REALY TRY AND FIND THE FACS, THE REASON WHY MCCAIN CAN USE A COMPUTER IS BECAUSE WHEN HE WAS DEFENDIG THIS COUTRY ON THE VIETNAM WAR, WHILE OBAMA''''S BUDY AYERS WAS BOMING OUR PENTAGON AND CAPITAL HILL, HE WAS A POW ( PRISIONER OF WAR) FOR 5 AND HALF YEARS AND THEY BROKE MOST OF HIS BONES AND WITH OUT THE GOOD CARE HIS ARM BONES DID''''T HEAL RIGTH, THATS''''S THE REASON THAT HE CAN USE THE COMPUTER.

Kill the caps key, kiddo--it makes you look like a screaming moron/

As to the content of your post--BS! There are disabled people out in the real world that are amputees who are still able to use a computer due to advances in technology.

McCain doesn''t use a computer because he simply isn''t interested in doing so. That lack of curiosity and refusal to embrace new technology reflects who he is--a dinosaur.

They are right, Obama talks a good talk. But when it comes to walking the walk, he just doesn''''t have a clue. I hope he does win the election so he can finally prove to america and his voters just how big of a mistake they made. I just hope it doesn''''t take a whole four years like it did with playboy Bill.

Senator Obama the distinguished gentleman from Illinois, nothing but style, class, intelligence and the finest of leadership qualities for the next President of the United States of America. Oh Yea, let us not forget about the coolness, calmness and clear present thought, with all the sleazy, scandalous, fear mongering with a touch of that good old boy racial, religious bigotry being thrown at Barack Obama. How can McCain/Palin want to talk about the goodness of America? Is this what they are doing suppose to be the example of who you should vote for? Mr. McCain keeps talking about how Barack Obama should tell the truth. Like that line from the movie - A FEW GOOD MEN - John McCain and Sarah Palin can not handle the truth -- America and the polls say they want Obama/Biden not McCain/Palin.

Reading these posts with the poor spelling and grammar, particularly from the people against Obama is very sad. It makes sense that someone who is intelligent would scare you. I guess going to the lowest common denominator really works for republicans.
By the way, his mother is American. So no matter what country he was born in, he is a natural American.
John was also not born in the US. Obama is not a muslim and he had student loans, which he and his wife both paid back, to put himself through college.
Try not to get all your information off youtube.

Honestly Obama supporters have to be the stupidest people in the world. They insult all us republicans because of Bush, but if we dare say anything about who Obama is connected too they complain. All I am saying is that if the liberal media just reported things without their bias, then the AMERICAN PEOPLE CAN DECIDE. But you liberals just believe what you want and take no ownership for your wrong-doings. All politicians are corrupt, we just have to hope for the best. And OBAMA IS NOT IT.

And it would
determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their
ballooning portfolios.'' Democrats pushed back. ''Among the groups
denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home
Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of
the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing
low-income and affordable housing''. ''These two entities, Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis'', said Barney
Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services
Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more
pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of
affordable housing.''
Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat
of North Carolina, agreed. ''I don''t see much other than a shell game
going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the
process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their
ability to get affordable housing,'' Mr. Watt said.

Amazing how the Democrats keep trying to blame this on Bush''s
deregulation policy. It''s like the ''pot trying to call the kettle
black.''

New York Times - Five Years Ago

The following article reported in the
New York Times five years ago. You won''t hear this from the liberal
media !!
It seems that the Bush administration
proposed increased oversight and regulation of Fannie and Freddie, but
Democrats fought it. Here''s the article:

''The Bush administration today
recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing
finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. Under
the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would
be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are
the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry. The new
agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set
one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would
exercise authority over any new lines of business.
