Photo Essay Sarah Palin Alaska's youngest and first female governor tabbed to be McCain's running mate.
The campaign also says the couple made nearly $130,000 and paid about $12,000 in taxes in 2006.
McCain's campaign released the joint income tax return Friday for his vice presidential nominee and her husband.
The couple donated more than $8,000 to charity over two years.
Their income jump from 2006 to 2007 resulted from the salary increase when Sarah Palin became Alaska's governor.
The McCain-Palin campaign had said the tax returns would be released Monday, but it suddenly put them out Friday afternoon - a time long used by government to reveal embarrassing news because few people watch TV or read newspapers Friday evening and Saturday.

- The Palin''s paid less that 15% for taxes. My wife and I made less than half their income and paid over 20% for taxes.

- Oalin put on a great performance in the debate. But a performance is all it was. She is obviously qualified to be a game show host or a Tina Fey impersonator.

In all honesty, Stormy, I would be truly embarrassed and distraught if I thought for a minute that you would vote the same way I would. The McCain/Palin ticket fits you to a tee. - Reply to this comment

- We are in the midst of one of the most severe economic breakdowns in recent times, our country is at an all time low in terms of international respect, and we are in debt to a Communists country. Wouldn''t any sane person admit that this is one of the most important elections in recent times ~ Does it seem ludicrous to anyone else that we are asking Joe six pack and hockey moms and pitbulls in lipstick and mavericks what to do to fix our economy and repair our reputation in the world and all the while we are winking and gee whizzing and gosh darning and curtsying and bobbing for an audience. Does this seem ludicrous to anyone? (And there is even more)

- I guess Palin wiwns either way. If McCain wins she gets a raise, and if Obama wins she gets a tax cut.

- So, the Palins run two businesses and net an income of $10,000 in 2006 and $5000 in 2007 and we want them to solve the economic crisis? Please!!

- So this is what middle class looks like these days...
"On a separate financial disclosure form, the Palins valued their home in Wasilla at between $500,000 and $1 million. Their mortgage interest deduction of only $10,203, reported on their tax return, suggests they have substantial equity in the property, according to one tax accountant.
Todd Palin''s commercial fishing business is worth between $50,000 and $100,000 and the couple''s fishing leasehold in Nushagak River, Alaska, is valued at $100,000 to $250,000.
Along with mutual funds and property, their total assets are between $880,000 and $2.1 million, the form indicated.
Much of the 2007 tax return deals with Todd Palin''s varied business activities. Although he won $17,000 in prize money in Alaska''s Iron Dog snowmachine race, he reported a $9,639 business loss after deducting equipment depreciation, repairs, fuel and other costs of racing.
However, he reported a profit of $15,513 on his commercial fishing operation, even after deducting $12,245 paid to his crew as a share of the catch, along with other expenses." - Reply to this comment
- I just hope someone with great knowledge of federal tax laws throughly reviews and investigates these returns. From what I have read there appears to be many questions into the income and tax reporting by the Queen of Alaska and her "first dude". I worked for the federal government for many years and I don''t remember being able to claim staying in my own home as a travel expense nor do I remember being able to claim my family''s travel expenses when they traveled with me on government business. Just a lot of unanswered and questionable issues with her tax reporting. Maybe some of that lipstick is covering something up.

- Caribou Fluff Barbie is not fit to hold office.
They are frightened out of their minds by the facts the Troopergate probe will reveal. It will shatter the myth that she''s a reasonable person and will show how recklessly she uses the power given to her.
This is why the Republicans are appealing the decision to move forward with the probe.
Sarah Palin fears the light - but the sun will rise, regardless. - Reply to this comment
- Love the editorial comment about releasing embarrassing news on a Friday. What''s so embarrassing about her income? That she''s not a multi-millionaire like say Katie Couric?
- Reply to this comment
- Poor Sarah that Couric was beating up on her by not asking her the questions that she wanted to answer.
She talks in gibberish.
Her''s her quote on FoxNews today. "I''ll try not to be so impatient and annoyed at the mainstream media." She is trying to convince her base that she is being ridden too hard by the mainstream media yet she is not doing an interviews this weekend on the Sunday morning shows. We''re hiring this person to represent us and we don''t have access to her.
Come on folks. Even the good conservative folks. Is this not scary that Gov. Palin is not being vetted at every opportunity before the election. This is too important to play games with.
Obama does not turn down an interview - heck, he even spent a few hours with Bill O''Riely. That''s what our leaders must do to gain trust of the American people. - Reply to this comment

one of the most important things you can do right now as an american is to pass this fact on to every single person you know.
the truth can set the people free. - Reply to this comment
- Sarah Palin in her interview today was quite dissapointing -- claiming that Katie Couric asked her gotcha questions like what she reads, what Supreme Court cases she found important, and what the financial crisis meant to her. But instead of saying, "hey, I was nervous and perhaps not up on the issues as much as I should have been but now I am working on it." Instead she blamed the media for being unfair. Yeah, Katie Couric was too hard on her. What does this say about her character? If she can''t handle Couric, how is she going to handle other world leaders, who she may have more contact with then John McCain. Sarah is scary.
Come on folks. Did she sound like she said "annoyed" or was she just simply stumped by the major issues of today. - Reply to this comment

Tell me about it! Sheesh, and Obama''''s going to double the payroll tax. I''''ve made up my mind either to cut 8 employees or outsource...
Frankly I''''m so sick of filling out papers for them all and donating my time to fill out all their government money scam papers every three months. I don''''t mind having to fill out papers for their Pell grants, that''''s why I mostly hire students...but the welfare subsidy krap irks me, when they won''''t work more than 20 hours a week because they''''d make too much money and wouldn''''t qualify.
Posted by StormyTexan,
Yeah. I cannot wait until the company I work for outsources the jobs of all of those who listen to Rush Limbaugh to India.
I need people who can think for themselves rather than dittoheads in my department.
The best part is if Mccain is elected we can probably get tax break for doing it!
However, the would not be the patriotic thing to do, so I guess I have to support Obama. - Reply to this comment
- Joe Biden moved more uncommitted voters to Obama than Palin did for McCain. Score 2 out of 2. Way to go Joe!!! These guys are a class act.
Obama/Biden are keeping their promise! Let''''s help keep them up the pressure.
