Heather Locklear Arrested On DUI Charges

(CBS)  Heather Locklear was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the upscale Santa Barbara area, authorities said Sunday.

Locklear, 47, was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer Saturday afternoon after a resident reported seeing the actress leaving a parking lot and "driving erratically," patrol spokesman Tom Marshall said.

The officer noticed Locklear's car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane in Montecito, a wealthy community about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. She was believed to be alone in the car, Marshall said.

"In talking with her, (the officer) determines that she seems to be under the influence of something," Marshall said.

Locklear was taken to the police station, where she was tested for alcohol and drugs. She was booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication. She was later released from custody.

Calls to Locklear's publicists were not immediately returned.

Locklear's TV credits include "T.J. Hooker," "Dynasty," "Melrose Place" and "Spin City," and her film roles include "The Perfect Man" and "Uptown Girls."

Locklear checked into a medical clinic in June to seek treatment for anxiety and depression.

Last year, she got a divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after 11 years of marriage. They have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth.

There is not quite enough information to be sure but this looks like yet another case of predatory psychology. It is quite common but the media refuses to report it as such. They would rather focus on the victim instead of investigating the cause.

On one hand, it''s a shame these pictures are posted to humiliate the stars at a bad time in their lives, on the other hand, it''s good to show people even celebrities are human and don''t always look like they''re walking the red carpet and they pay the price for their mistakes too (sometimes).

If I had her kind of money and could pay someone to slice me open and pull it all taut every few years, I''d look like her too. They are all a bunch of stupid morons. They make more money than God and they are too dumb to call a cab or a car service. Give me a break. No sympathy. It''s all OK until these losers kill someone. What did that Hogan kid or whoever he is get for putting that other boy into a vegetative state, a year or two, if that? They have no accountability for the c.r.a.p they all are.

definitely not a cover girl shot but how sad - did she not just get out of some sort of rehab establishment?

Yeah, her eyes are probably glazed from being on drugs, but if you look under her eyes, you will see her mascara, and that''s because she was crying.
