(CBS)  Midnight Clear, winners of The Early Show's "Living Room... LIVE! Battle of the Bands" competition, stopped by the program to chat with Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith and perform the very music that made them win.

The Atlanta, Ga. band made up of guitarist Derrick Gaddis, drummer Rory Knapton, lead vocalist and frontman Jeremy French and second lead vocalist, bass guitarist and keyboardist Brant French, released their first single online today.

Smith introduced the band in what he considered to be in Dick Clark fashion.

On a whim, the band unexpectedly sent out their tape to the "Living Room... LIVE! Battle of the Bands" competition.

The band became America's favorite when a video recorded in Rory’s living room aired with the band performing an original song written by Brant and Jeremy, called "You Should Have."

Needless to say, Midnight Clear made the summer competition sizzle.

"We thought it would be a long shot but we said what the heck, let's try it out and come to find out, we won and made our world bigger because of that," Jeremy French said.

Week after week, Midnight Clear was literally in the clear as they made their way to win the finale.

"Our lives have changed. We signed to CBS Records. We thank them so much and The Early Show. We'd like to thank all of our communities in Cleveland, Dahlonega and all over America and U.K. and you great people here to give us an opportunity," Knapton added.
