Bono And McCain To Meet
(The Politico)
The ONE Campaign, a project of Bono and other activists who work against global poverty and disease, announced today it had set up a meeting with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) this week in New York. The campaign requested that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin also attend, a request Bono agreed to.
The statement:
Bono and ONE have been in touch with the campaigns of Senator Obama and Senator McCain as part of an ongoing conversation about the importance of continued American leadership in the fight against AIDS and extreme poverty. Coming out of those discussions, a meeting is planned between Bono and Senator McCain this week since both are in NYC. At the campaign’s request, the meeting will also include Governor Palin and members of McCain’s foreign policy staff.
ONE is also in discussions with the Obama campaign about a possible meeting between Bono and Senator Obama early next month. Bono has met previously with both Senator Obama and Senator McCain as part of his work as an activist. Both candidates have gone "On the Record" with ONE, outlining what they would do to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease via ONE’s website at www.one.org.
The ONE Campaign is a global organization uniting millions of people to press government leaders to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease around the world. For more information, visit www.ONE.org.
