    A look at Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's life and career

(CBS/ AP)  John McCain and Sarah Palin on Friday cast the new Republican presidential ticket as a team of determined reformers eager to challenge Washington's political establishment.

"John McCain doesn't run with the Washington herd," said Palin, the 44-year-old Alaska governor and surprise pick as McCain's running mate.

"It's over. It's over. It's over for the special interests," McCain promised. "We're going to start working for the people of this country."

Twelve hours after leaving the Republican convention in Minnesota, McCain and Palin were cheered and applauded by a crowd of 1,000 or more who packed the street in front of the ice cream and chocolate store that was the backdrop for their appearance.

Palin also picked up right where she left off at the Republican convention, attacking Obama on everything from his job as a community organizer to not supporting the surge in Iraq, reports CBS News' John Bentley.

“He said it was doomed to fail. But just last night, Sen. Obama finally broke and brought himself to admit what all of us have known for quite some time, and that’s that thanks to the skill and valor of our troops, the surge in Iraq has succeeded,” Palin said.

“I guess when you turn out to be profoundly wrong on a vital national security issue, maybe it’s comforting to pretend that everyone else was wrong, too.”

(Click here to read Bentley's post in the CBS News "From The Road" blog)

"Isn't this the most marvelous running mate in the history of this nation?" McCain asked at a main street rally in Cedarburg, a town of about 11,000. The community, about 20 miles north of Milwaukee in Ozaukee County, is a traditional Republican enclave within Democratic-leaning Wisconsin.

Many people in the audience held digital cameras and video cameras above their heads to get a shot as McCain's "Straight Talk Express" bus rolled into town. Palin said it was their intention to bring their campaign directly from the convention to "small-town America" like the small town in Alaska where she once was mayor.

The Republican team plans to campaign together in hotly contested states - Wisconsin and Michigan on Friday, Colorado and New Mexico on Saturday - and then go their separate ways. Palin is expected to return to Alaska just briefly and then go back to the campaign trail, perhaps on Monday.

"Change is coming, change is coming," McCain promised the audience, borrowing the same theme that Democrat Barack Obama has made the centerpiece of his run for the White House.

McCain's campaign as a political outsider and rebel is complicated by the fact that he has served in the Senate for 22 years and solidly endorsed key elements of President Bush's record, most notably the war in Iraq and hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts. McCain originally opposed the tax cuts but changed his mind as he sought the GOP presidential nomination.

McCain took note of gloomy economic news from Washington: The government reported that the nation's unemployment rate soared to a five-year high of 6.1 percent in August as employers slashed 84,000 jobs.

"Rough times all over America," he said.

After their speeches, Palin and McCain ducked into The Chocolate Factory to greet customers and sign autographs. After Palin met a few people, she turned to the ice cream counter and said: "I've got to get the moose tracks, please. Moose tracks, you know, near and dear to my heart. I can't go wrong with it." She was handed a waffle cone with a giant scoop.

Then McCain and his wife came up to order. The senator asked for a recommendation and then decided on watermelon sorbet. Cindy McCain ordered a brownie.

The woman behind the cash register, Becky Luft, 20, was flush with excitement and her friend described her as McCain's No. 1 fan. McCain came around the counter to pose for a picture with her.

People in the restaurant congratulated Palin on her nomination, many saying they liked her speech.

"I am very impressed with you," said Doreen Wirth, a Republican and artist from Cedarburg.

Palin acts more like a ''Cheer Leader'' than a VP.
Plus she lies...
She-s was FOR the Bridge to Nowhere until the heat got turned on to it.
Now, they-re even using it in their campaign that SHE didn-t want it....LIE!
That-s all they can do is LIE.

After watching real Americans accept their party''s nomination, I finally understood the reality of hussein.

Hussein is an artificial creation of the loony-left liberal media with no more substance or depth than a cartoon. In a room with no mirrors and no cameras, hussein ceases to exist - even though his Greek Temple-of-the-Gods survives!

Palin:

Believes that creationism should be taught in schools, not evolution;
Believes that women shouldn''t have the right to choose; even in cases of rape and incest or severe medical indications;
Believes that citizens should have the right to bear AK-47s;
Believes only in abstinence education; despite the fact that her daughters have been having unprotected ***;
Has only been out of the country once in her life and that was just last year;
Was mayor of a small town with fewer than 6000 residents with a budget of less than 12 million a year and fewer than 50 city hall employees;
Is governor of a state that is closer to Russia than to Florida;
Was part of a group that wanted Alaska to succeed from the Union;
Is being investigated in 2 State of Alaska firing scandals;

And this woman will be our next vice president and possibly our president?!?!?!?!

the rape of democracy which took place in the primary is a more important issue to me and many others than all the rest, and this injustice can only be resolved by insuring that it is not ultimately successful.

Sit out the election?

Hell no, voting for McCain is the best ammo I have in this regard.

McCain''s a "Washington outsider" who doesn''t "run with the Washington herd"?

That''s odd. I could swear that he holds the record for total number of appearances on all the inside the beltway Washington establishment Sunday morning TV shows. Not a Sunday goes by that you don''t see him mugging for the cameras and chatting away with his beltway pals.

But I guess if you say "Maverick...Change...Reformer" over and over again and then click your heels three times...

Palin is not just any woman... she is the other woman. A woman trying to steal the dedicated "Ladies of the Traveling Pant Suits " away from their devotion to Hillary and Her Party. Palin is like a woman who cares not about devotion to a cause. Hillary will protest her Sally come Lately" arrival. Palin looks like an extra political affair, a third wheel.

"The smearing of the Palin family must end," Schmidt said in a statement released Wednesday. "The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false."

Maybe so, but Sarah Palin was a model at one time and runner up in the Miss Alaska contest and if there are those pictures of her there are probably others too lurking out there and who ever is holding those hot and steamy pictures of Sarah Palin is probably biding their time until Palin`s value increases which will also increase the value of her controversial pictures. The more Sarah Palin rises the more millions her pictures rises! I wonder who has them and what she promised to keep them quiet for now, inquiring minds want to know! lol

Just like they are about "national security" and "family values.

I am sure that Palin mentioning in a speech that the whole world saw that her son would be deploying to Iraq on 9/11 was in no way meant to jeopardize national security by revealing unit deployment schedules, or meant to betray her family values by offering al-Qaeda details on when they should mount an effort to snatch or kill her son.

I can hardly wait to see how she "reforms" Washington, with a start like that...

All the offensive books had long sense been purged now that she had the power to do on a massive scale what she started as a mayor in Wasila. No More Harry Potter!, they all rejoiced. The United Theocracy''s population initially exploded due to strict laws that called for the execution of all those making less than $1,000,000/year that were convicted of aborting their unwanted pregnancies. However, with no gun control laws, and people starving and freezing to death across the nation, "survival of the fittest" weeded out all but the strongest and wealthiest.

The "Holy War on the Middle East" didn''t even require a draft, the choices were simple, starve or enlist and many chose to enlist. Only one thing remained to be done. Her church had taught her all her life that End Times would be a blessing to the whole world and that only Alaska would remain as a final refuge to the True Believers. And now it was time, 12/21/2012 at high noon. With a contented sigh she entered the codes into the system linked to the nation''s nuclear arsenal of 150,000 nuclear warheads. Proclaiming "Jesus come on back!", she pressed the button and watched as thousands of missiles across the nation streaked into the air as her supporters cried "YEEEEEE HAAAAAA!!! That''ll teach em to mess with the good ol'' United Theocracy of America!!!"

THE END. DEFINITELY, THE END. THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE.

This also made it very easy to rewrite the Constitution to fit her agenda. No need for freedom of religion with only ONE state religion - Pentacostal Dominionism. All across the land one could hear the joyous sound of men and women "speaking in tongues". Medicare was abolished, along with Social Security. Faith Healing took it''s place, and the stock markets had long since crashed and wiped out the privatized funds.

Why had the markets crashed? The only employment left were $2/hr positions (ha, minimum wage legislation was easy to defeat). A few CEOs were left to manage the corporations that had not already been sold to China. But since nobody could afford to buy anything beyond the basic essentials, the economy was deeply mired in a
depression that made the 1930s look like "the good ol'' days".

With a gallon of gas at $140/gallon, few could drive to work anyway. Who would have thought that "Operation Drill, Baby Drill" would take so long? And that so little oil remained within the US (well, the liberals and scientists knew this, but nobody paid them any attention - science had long since been banned). The belated President McCain, even before assuming his post, had voted against all forms of alternative energy and it was too late now to adopt it with energy prices so high. Nobody noticed that he had neglected to follow his campaign promises on this matter. "Drill baby drill" was the rallying cry!

Twas 3 days before Christmas, 2012, and all through the WhiteHouse, not a creature was stirring, they''d all long since been fired for blasphemy. Only President Palin sat alone in the large Oval Office, sitting at her desk pondering all the wonderful accomplishments over the past few years.

Old President McCain had long since passed away, he lasted barely 3 months into his administration before cancer finally overtook him. So much had changed since then in the United Theocracy of America. Her loving supporters cheered wildly as she appointed the nations newest members of the Supreme Court: James Dobson, Pat Buchanan and her own pastor from the Assembly of God church in Wasilla. It took only two weeks to overturn Roe vs. Wade with all 3 new justices, along with Alito, Scalia and Roberts united in it''s demise.

The filthy liberals cried out in protest, but to their own dismay, they learned that criticizing Palin''s policies was a one way ticket to the new privatized Halliburton built prisons, built on their behalf. This made the 2012 elections SO much easier she chuckled to herself, why hadn''t we thought of this before?
