Body Language Expert Joe Navarro Says She Was "Terrific," "Strong," "Affirmative"

(CBS)  All eyes were on Sarah Palin Wednesday night when she delivered the biggest address of her political career at the Republican National Convention.

How did the GOP vice presidential nominee handle her defining moment?

Political imagery consultant and body language expert Joe Navarro, author of "What Every Body Is Saying," raved about Palin's performance to Harry Smith on The Early Show Thursday.

Navarro said, "I thought she did terrific. ... She was strong, she was affirmative. She had command of the theater. Totally comfortable. Nice, strong jaw. Good pointing gestures. She looked like a CEO. Terrific appearance."

Not only that, said Navarro, Palin had "very nice facial gestures that emphasized what's important, what she feels strongly about. She almost had the look of 'Bring it on.' How many times have we had someone like that who's not afraid, who sticks that jaw out, who is basically saying, 'I'm not scared of you. I'm not scared of anything that's coming my way.' And everything about her says, 'I'm sharp. I'm focused. I'm on top of things.' "

And from there, Navarro's glowing review just continued.

I LOVE Palin...As an independent voter who was not thrilled with either candidate (Obama is bought by corrupt Chicago gangsters and McCain is hard to figure), I have now decided to swing my vote to McCain due to his EXCELLENT VP choice. I may not agree with everything she believes in, but I can appreciate a strong woman who has actually brought real change to her state. INDEPENDENT WOMEN FOR PALIN!!!!

Palins speech was fully rehearsed and prompted by McCain''s staff. She reminded me of the girls in high school who would throw gum in girl''s hair.

Palin sounded like she was at a hockey game: Saying I can beat you!. ICE Queen. Maybe she said some things that were important, but were lost in the way she attacked. She was offensive to us the middle class working people(now Low class) I don''t know what world they live in, Maybe cause they aren''t living in crisis like the rest of us. Her tone doesn''t impress anyone but the good old boy''s. What I saw last night was Bush!(female version). I''m sorry to say I voted for him. Palin and Mccain, are focused in their party(REP) not about the people.
They focused on the War, cause they are the ones that put us there. I watched last night to confirm my vote for Obama! God help us if the Rep. win.

An additional point. She did mention nuclear power as another energy source but not wind or solar or raising auto efficiency standards or other achievable means which don''t add to pollution and global warming.
It seems that Republicans only want dirty energy. Clean coal is another gimmick, at least for the time being until more funds are put into R7 D that will make it actually clean.

Some of the points she raised I would agree were valid. The story about McCain being led back to his cell and giving the thumbs up was the most inspiring part of the speech and I hope whoever wins that''s how the country will approach the future.

Other parts of her speech were not as admirable. She lied about her own record on the Bridge To Nowhere, on returning oil funds to Alaska citizens, on earmarks,etc.

She lied about her opponents. The Brookings Institution along with the Urban Institute have conducted a study of the tax proposals of both candidates and have concluded that Obama''s tax and spending plan will lower taxes by 2012 for middle class taxpayers by approximately $2,200 annually while McCain''s plans will raise middle class tax burden''s by an estimated 3% annually during the same time period.

Oil companies already have unexercised drilling rights. Any pre-drilling preparations such as geological studies should be further along on these sites making them a stronger option for speeding up drilling. Offshore drilling is a clear gimmick to divert attention from the fact that oil companies aren''t fully utilizing their current capacity. None of this addresses refining capacity either. She said that we all know that drilling alone won''t solve our energy needs but offered nothing to the debate about what else is needed.

It was all style and gimmicks and added nothing to the debate of what the coountry actually needs to do to move forward.

I agree Palin''s speech was overly rehearsed and lackluster. She has no real drive or substance.

As an Independent observing the Republican convention, I found all the speeches, including Palin''s, lacked substance. If all we are going to see is attacks against Obama and no real discussion on the issues over the next two months, I am voting for Obama.

I really don''t give a rip about body language because what I saw wasn''t real...it was rehearsed.
