DNC Cancels St Paul Event As Gustav Looms
(The Politico)
ST. PAUL- The Democratic National Committee abruptly cancelled plans to unveil their rapid response operation in St. Paul Sunday afternoon, as the looming threat of Hurricane Gustav tamped down partisan attacks on the eve of the Republican National Convention.
Democrats were set to unveil their rapid response operation with a media reception featuring several prominent Minnesota Democrats, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. Betty McCollum.
However, as Republicans cancelled most of their convention plans for Monday, DNC officials also decided to scale back their events.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families in the region,” said DNC Spokesman Damien LaVera.
