XXX Files: Duchovny Admits Sex Addiction

Actor, Who Currently Plays Sex-Obsessed Character On TV, Enters Rehab

(AP)  David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.

In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com.

She and Stein both declined to elaborate further.

Duchovny, 48, plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime series "Californication," which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins Sept. 28.

"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," the network said in a statement.

The actor appeared in the film "The X Files: I Want to Believe" earlier this summer. He has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

I am not buying the whole *** addiction concept. *** is a natural, instinctual urge built into most of us. Some poeple are just cold....and I have a feeling its the same ones promoting the *** addiction concept. How do you draw the line between natural *** and addicted ***. Everyone is different.

I think its mostly a farce dreamed up by councilors to get another $150 per hour. The self professed moral zeolots and prudes love it too because they can use it to attack pornongraphy with some more cooked up data.

I saw a posting on another news website this morning by a councilor who said this concept was a farce. She said the root of it is lack of self esteem. The lack of self esteem manifests itself in *** or gambling or drugs or alcohol. They have a self destructive urge and use these things for that.

*** (outside marriage) is a vice like any other. Gambling, alcohol and tobacco have products to sell which generate profits to throw around with lobbyists that create the required public perceptions. They know that the way to keep any vice legal is too keep the govt addicted to the special tax revenue from it. Now that is a true addiction.
