XXX Files: Duchovny Admits Sex Addiction

(AP)  David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.

In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com.

She and Stein both declined to elaborate further.

Duchovny, 48, plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime series "Californication," which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins Sept. 28.

"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," the network said in a statement.

The actor appeared in the film "The X Files: I Want to Believe" earlier this summer. He has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

NOT TONIGHT, Inc.

Amid the flurry of new terminology coming to my ears sexual addiction is one that has permeated throughout western society. As if it could be tampered with, altered. I thought (personal) sexual drives control were beyond our reach and at least for me, a midlife straight man, I haven't still been able to harness the damn thing! It's still under my libido's strict management... And rightly so: mother nature programmed us, species of the two genres, to not be able to discuss the (once generally accepted) attraction but only the "terms and conditions" in order to keep the stork busy. Healthily.

Well, in the course of the late 20th century (and please don't argue that history is not being written now, by us, the rightful owner of the truth), something went awry and things seem to have changed a bit and it's certainly due to science advancement no doubt : We now allegedly possess the ability to emerge and shake free from the primitive shackles of basic instinct statute. Out of the closet after millions of years of humming and hawing since the dawn of humanity we reportedly recently achieved the mastery and ultimate control of the (soon doomed) human specie's evolution and who should we attribute this feat to ? Apparently not to the feminists this time around. Rather to a for profit group of people e.g. therapists, eager to coin, spread (and sell) new and exciting last frontier material: the heyday of civilization. Booya!

This is trial and error at its worse : Were we to gain command of our sex drives -and its subsequent criminalization- the dusk of humanity would be ever near and I'd be left alone, stranded on barren shores, bathed in my own unspoiled, raging testosterone, crossing the desert of the long gone smart minis.

The reality is that some still have headaches and others don't. We're all different in our energy distribution and allocation but some eternally think that they are the truth bearers. Good old politics.

To my eyes it's one more sad episode of the endless attempt the prevent people, our peers, from sharing the most natural and healthy common ground between them because in this life there's nothing more dangerous than being caught in the act of experiencing pleasure.

Now, that's control !

'' .. the neighborhood streets were littered with cute passed out and dead dopes young and old fat and small as adorable drunken degenerates stumbled and swooned among the mounds of collecting bodys, then a boy and girl scout club moved into the factory garden and things began to turn around, before long everyone had the message: any folk caught being all immoral like would be arrested and made to pay .. ''

'' .. i wasn''t normal at all, most are normal, i was not, i needed unsual people in my life, so i joined a jail, a rehab, and a quality control panel .. ''

This is nobody''s business...It is a private family matter...people are talking about the government snooping in on our lives...The media is far worse....After all...the media has guys like Oliver North doing their reporting for them...It''s beginning to look like one big huge joke.

Now this is real news people. Californication actually looks like a really good new series on Showtime. I''m tempted to add showtime just to watch this show. :)
