John McCain is closing the gap with Barack Obama in a new CBS News Poll, as interest rises in who their running mates will be. Dean Reynolds reports.

(CBS/ AP)  Barack Obama says he's decided on a running mate, but he won't say who.

"I've made the selection, that's all you're gonna get," Obama said told reporters while campaigning in Virginia Thursday.

Obama didn't say whether he's informed his pick yet.

In an exclusive interview, Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith asked Obama, "In the final analysis, did you find it more intellectual, or was it a gut check?"

"I think it's a combination of things," Obama said. "I think you've got to, obviously, feel comfortable with the person."

Tune in to The Early Show Friday morning to watch the full interview.
Obama is planning to announce his choice in a text message to supporters sometime before Saturday afternoon, when he's scheduled to appear with his pick in Illinois.

Asked by an Associated Press reporter when the text would be sent, Obama just grinned and said, "Wouldn't you like to know?"

Earlier on Thursday, Obama met with Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine at a hotel in Richmond, reports CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic.

At a town hall meeting in Richmond later in the day, Obama was introduced by Kaine, who is widely believed to be on the short list of possible vice presidential contenders.

Kaine batted away questions about his prospects.

"I'm going to let the campaign speak for the campaign," he said.

It''''s going to be interesting to see how all the Obama supporters/left will react WHEN John McCain wins in November. Even if he were to win by a landslide, they will wring their hands and complain bitterly that the election was stolen. That seems to be the Dems way of explaining defeat. Blame everyone but themselves. Sad story.

Obama is gonna choose billionaire NYC mayor Bloomberg because that is his instruction from the oligarghy (international bankers and financiers) controlling the elections. Obama is their puppet. Bloomberg will privatize the US government to profit big time $$$ as planned because their wealth is going down with bad economy and currency. Bloomberg will privatize US programs, infrastructure and jobs and forsake President FDR''s policies that benefits 80% of the forgotten people and Constitution.

All these people need to get away from their computers. They need a life other than these boards. The story was about a VP pick. The comments were about everything but a VP pick. Stay on subject folks! If you''re gonna write here STAY ON SUBJECT! Additionally, stop believing ***. It is a proven fact Obama is NOT muslim. If you believe this you are deluded. In the meantime, get away from the screen and go breathe some fresh air

What an absolute creep Obama is. "Wouldn''t you like to know." Who the hell does he think he is? I know...he is the anti-christ...a man in his 40s with ties to Islam...he will destroy us. Read Revelations. And he is proving it every day. Smug, arrogant, almost worse than Bush because he''s a little smarter. I hope someone removes him soon.
