Fortunate Son: Homeless Man Inherits $100K
After 10 Years Of Living On The Streets, Unsuspecting Fla. Man Gets Gift From Dead Mother
-
Section Strange News Weird events, odd people and more peculiar happenings.
A newspaper article asked the public for help in finding the 61-year-old Novack, who was set to inherit $100,000 from his dead mother's estate.
Authorities say he visited a doctor's office on Thursday, the same office where his mother was treated before dying in 2001. After reading the article, the staff there contacted authorities.
He was told of the big news by his attorney, who was hired his attorney last year to investigate whether Novack could claim any inheritance money. Novack said he had become frustrated with delays, dropped the investigation and went back to living in the woods.
Now, he'll no longer have to sleep on the streets.
Novack was released from Broward County Jail in July after a prowling conviction, reported the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He told the newspaper that he slept "in the woods" for safety and shelter.
Since his release July 10 from Broward County Jail on a prowling conviction, Novack said he has slept nights "in the woods" for safety and shelter, without elaborating on which woodsy areas he frequented.
"I'm going to get a place to stay and get off the street," he said. "When you're homeless, you learn to become very careful with money."

- I pray that he could use the money carefully for the rest of his life (attorney fee and inheritance tax will carve a lot of his new fortune}. Upon hearing the news, my wife suggested him not to contribute to any election funds or the money will be used to buy hot dog for European rock concert goers; he could try to locate the Floria homeless man who is now behind bars for taking 42 cents (worth less than a quarter of a hot dog) from a fountain in a mall.

- It''s amazing how some people know all about this man just from this article. I''ll admit I don''t know anything about his character, motivation, or habits. I just wish him the best at utilizing this chance.

- I dont mean to be the one that ruined the party...but why is this man out in the streets to begin with??
there is no mention of the mother''s desire on giving this man the money but it was given to him by default..
i know it makes everybody all nice and warm inside but there might be something a little less rosy behind this story - Reply to this comment

- Why all the comments about the bad son
The Bad Bush/Cheney
The Bad world
The bad stock market
And not see this mother''s love? (She may have hated the loser but I believe she loved her son)
My wife was a good mother like my on mother, nothing was stronger then her love for her children
Because of this my children have had happy lives - Reply to this comment
- timdgrim I guess I owe you an apology for some misspellings. However, I never said I was perfect. In that entire post the only thing you came up with was some spelling errors! The main points I was trying to make is
1. not every issues is a political issue
2. Depending on your personal investment strategies you can still make money in today%u2019s market.
I find it pitiful that people try to blame all there ills on some one else. Yes Bush and Cheney have done a poor job of running this country. However, they did not get us in the pickle we are in without the help of all you socialists out there. But I digress as the intent of my post and the nature of the article are not political. Oh and by the way I am not a stockbroker just an average person who watches is finances and takes and active interest in controlling my own destiny. Give it a try it truly is rewarding.
Of course just by your username it becomes apperant you have a rather negative outlook on things and after all it is easier to blame someone else for all your woes than take responsibility for them. - Reply to this comment

Quit trying to turn every article into a political thing. While I am sure you are a socialist, er communist....sorry democrate and would like to think all our problems are because of the republicans please educate yourself.

You need to use you 9.3% return on your investment on a spelling education stock broker boy! How can you tell anybody to "educate yourself" when you can''t even spell simple words. - Reply to this comment

- Re, the estate tax:
the "applicable exclusion amount" is $2,000,000, so if the sum of the taxable estate equals $2,000,000 or less, there is no federal estate tax to pay. - Reply to this comment
- Good for him! I believe his ten year lesson will multiply his inheritance more so with his experience than without it.
