According to a sheriff's office report, the 15-year-old Deltona boy told deputies he gave his father more than one warning to stay away Monday afternoon. The teen was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm. He was taken to a juvenile detention center.
Meanwhile, the father, 47, was taken to a hospital where he was treated for the wound on his hand. The police report stated that the boy also tried to stab his father in the torso with the 10-inch sword, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Deputies say the teen had said he was afraid his father was going to hit him and threw a bag of seashells at him before stabbing him.

Good4Always: This was a brat kid that needs an attitude adjustment. I would never, ever think of raising my hand to either of my parents. I lived in their house, ate their food, they made sure I had clothing and other needs...all I had to do is follow their rules. Same applies to my house and children and visitors...you are in my house, follow my rules. I will do the same visiting you in your house. - Reply to this comment
- "spare the rod, spoil the child?" Bull*hit!! These kids became out of control when they took away spanking!!!

- well i dont think those bleeding heart liberals would allow anybody to ''control'' a poor child

- toldyouso,no it is not control. I take ye can see fully. If ye allow yer children to do as they please then they learn nothing but having no repect for the home they have, their person, others and be aMe myself and I person. Ye allow the child to dress and act in a manner is wrong. Parents are their first teachers. They have a duty to see to it that he/she is clean, neatly dressed, well mannered. I did have a say in my clothes but they had to meet a dress code. I did not break that dress code. Ye care about yerself and yer kids, Most look awful. March them to their room and change. I am from the old scool. No I don''t wear a dress. That kid be grounded in my day.No he would not raise his paw and hurt an adult. I was raised by elderly women. I am 53. I am appolled what that young do that we never dreamt of doing. It the breakdown of the family and manners are not taught.

- This is what is wrong this nation the children think they run the house. Well they don''t and most of ye are kids to me.When I was told as a teen yer not wearing that, yer hair is cut. I did as I was told. Yes the foster mothers had my hair cut way to short and it hurt, I am female. As long as the parents are their care takers, pay their bills, buy their cloths, live under the parents roof. Shut up and do as yer told. It is only hair so it will grow back.

- If you live in your parents house and they pay for you to eat, wear clothes, go to school, have a roof over your head, and everything else you need, then you do what the he!! they tell you to do. END OF STORY!!

- You try to cut someone else''s hair without their consent, you get smacked down. Leave his hair alone. You parents think you own kids. This wasn''t tattooing or eye make up.

- It looks like it runs in the family. That kid''''s Dad might not be tactful but the kid had no right to stab him. What kind of man will he turn out to be?

One who will fight back if he is attacked but maybe will warn the other before he does it? On the other hand, Juvvy can be as nightmarish as adult prison, so for that act of rebellion, we may have even more severe problems on our hands when the kid grows up.
His dad should never have tried to force a haircut. His son may never, ever forgive him now. Never send a kid to juvenile or jail unless you are prepared for what happens in there as well as prepared to take part of the blame. Why did the dad feel he should physically enforce something as petty as a haircut? Control issues? - Reply to this comment
- Since when is a kid allowed to even warn his parent? Sounds to me like the kid has gotten away with too much do-do and needed his you-know-what whacked to set him straight and act appropriately, like a kid is supposed to; no back talk or smart mouthing.

Warning someone that you will react to them if they do not stop is very civilized. Now, he could have been like some other kids and just went into his dad''s room after the hair cut and stabbed his dad to death in his sleep.
I believe in spanking, but also in honoring the rights of others--children have the right to their own bodies and most of what they do to them. If what they do is not harmful, (Like having long hair) parents need to stop being so controlling and chill out. - Reply to this comment
- The father should not have tried to chop off his 15 year old''s hair. That actually is molestation, which is not always a sexual crime--sometimes "molestation" means the taking of liberties in any form--of another person''s body. In this case, the taking of liberties was the father''s perceived right to remove hair growing from someone else''s head.
It should be self defense and the boy should be removed from the home and the father charged with attempted assault.
If a stranger tried to shave the kid, we''d all be screaming bloody murder. What is the difference between a stranger chopping off someone''s hair and a parent? Either way, the hair would be gone. - Reply to this comment
- I have been humiliated by my mother''s desire to chop off my long hair. As a girl in third grade with beautiful soft curls cascading down my back (after I took out my very tight ponytail almost daily), my mother marched me into a beauty school where I was butched and permed until I only had a 2 inch long set of extremely tight curls on my head. I wondered around the neighborhood for a week, skipping school because I was so embarassed by how I looked. It was quite traumatic to say the least. My trademark was gone.
As an adult now, I have had long hair my whole adult life and get compliments on it everywhere in the world I go.
My three children have always had the hair length they wanted. All girls. All long.
Parents need to respect a child''s self image and it is selfish to impose ANY desires onto them with regard to their appearance. It is amazing how our parents teach us by example. Albeit positive or negative. - Reply to this comment
- Good4always. You have a pretty remedial understanding of sarcasm for someone calling others stupid. I WAS ILLUSTRATING A POINT DUMB***. The Austrian is a terrible human being and obviously NOT a moral, respectful person, and guess what HES NOT AMERICAN, which was my whole point. Terrible things occur to children in all countries but you''re such a one dimensional fool that you think because you dont like America that must mean that bad things only happen there. Get a clue.

- Interesting posts today on a kids hair cut LOL.
I grew up on a Military Base, my dad was a Drill Instructor.....no hair the first half of my childhood.
He cut it with a bowl and clippers. I hated it!
In later years I rebelled and grew it long (70''s)
now as a father myself, I can''t get my sons NOT to cut off all of their hair. Strange twist of fate or just a sign of the times.
The Dad would have been better served to leave him alone and talk to him about his appearance, threats like no Car can work as well. Grabbing him and forcing a cut on him was stupid...that''s Flordia LOL - Reply to this comment
- Thats some great logic Good4always. I mean after all, if you''ve never heard of it then it must not ever happen in other countries. Obviously the dungeon master in Austria was a very respectful and moral family member. You''re a fool.

- One thing for sure, we don''t know the whole story. This kid could have been abused both mentally and physically. Maybe so, maybe not but I don''t think we should be the judge until we know all of the facts.
