(AP)  Prosecutors have filed formal charges against the 22-year-old mother of a missing central Florida girl, but not in her disappearance.

Casey Anthony was formally charged Tuesday with child neglect and filing a false statement. Police have held her on $500,000 bail on those charges since last month. A delay between an arrest and formal charges is typical in Florida as prosecutors build their case.

Prosecution documents did not provide more details about 2-year-old Caylee's disappearance. Prosecutors declined comment because they want to avoid publicity that could lead the trial to be moved.

Police say Anthony lied and didn't report her daughter missing for more than a month.

Her attorney denies the charges and says Anthony believes Caylee is alive.

Last month, prosecutors said in court that Casey Anthony is a person of interest in what is beginning to look like a homicide investigation, though she has not been charged. Sheriff's deputies testified that her car smelled of decomposition, and a cadaver-trained dog noted a smell of human remains there.

Another woman who should never have had a baby.

Torture her & the truth will come out. Just attach the wires & let the games begin.

The government should pay women to have their uterus removed.

Does any rational thinking person truly believe that this is not a homicide case?

Judge not lest ye be judged.

Maybe Caylee is dead, but maybe she isn''t.
Maybe Casey killed her, but maybe she didn''t.
Whatever the truth and circumstances, this is a very sad situation for all involved.

Not a single one of us outsiders knows what really happened. All we know is what the media tells us.

The one thing we all know for certain is that the media isn''t always a reliable source of information. They often lead us to draw conclusions and make assumptions based on incomplete on inconsistent information.

Truth often defies logic, people sometimes do bizarre things for good reasons, and reality can be far stranger than fiction.

If you hope to know what really happened, then you must wait and see with an open mind.

We may never know what really happened, but, in truth, do we, observers of the circus, really need to know?

Unfortunately, it appears that little Caylee is dead. After watching the interview from a jail house inmate, I believe that Caylee died at the hands of her mother, Casey, or perhaps, Casey''s boyfriend. Why else would Case want immunity? Now they''re saying that the fingerprints on the gas can are not Caseys. Are they her boyfriend''s? How many times have we seen this play out? It looks like Caylee is dead. It looks like that Casey is covering up for her boyfriend. It''s just so sad but the facts are the facts. Caylee, I hope I am wrong. I hope you are alive for you are one of God''s special angels. God Bless you, baby girl, wherever you are.

well praise the Lord and Hallelujah!! casey is getting (slowly) what she deserves. as sad as it is, i believe beautiful caylee is dead, and has been for quite a while. guess casey couldn''t get a babysitter or was mad at her parents or something stupid - and just snuffed out that precious child''s life like it was nothing at all. if she doesn''t get full punishment for this crime, she''ll get it when she meets her Maker - no, on second thought she''ll be meeting the guy with the red pitchfork.

I stated it two weeks ago and I%u2019ll say it again. Little Caylee interfered with mom%u2019s social life and so she had to go. To all the pro-lifers out there %u2013 just because an unplanned pregnancy is carried to term does not mean that the abortion will not happen years later.

This is going to be one of those cases that will be pushed aside and forgotten and the little girl will never be found. How very sad.
