(CBS/ AP)  A divorced father accused of kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter is a great dad and unlikely to cause the young girl any harm, a former babysitter for the family told CBS' The Early Show Thursday.

Clark Rockefeller, 48, was last seen at Grand Central Terminal on Sunday night, hours after he was accused of snatching his daughter, whose legal name is Reigh Storrow Boss, during a supervised visit in Boston. Authorities said at the time they believed he may have been trying to flee to Bermuda or Peru on a yacht docked on Long Island.

Emily Miller, Reigh's former babysitter from when the family lived in New Hampshire, said the young girl was unlikely in any danger. "He's been a great father," Miller said, adding, "I don't think he could ever hurt her."

On Wednesday, authorities said Rockefeller may have planted false clues that he planned to flee the country in a yacht.

Officials said it's possible Rockefeller led people to believe he was heading for a Long Island marina in order to throw police off his trail. They aren't even sure he owns a yacht.

"We have been unable to confirm that at this time," Boston Police spokesman Eddy Chrispin said of the boat.

Paul Browne, chief spokesman for the New York Police Department, said investigators focused their search on marinas based on information obtained from witnesses, but still haven't found any trace of Rockefeller or his daughter. "They had time to get away," he said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, officials have been dealing with a flood of false leads. Investigators in New York followed up on a 911 call that the girl was seen on a bus in Brooklyn, but the tip didn't pan out.

Police near Smyrna, Del., about three hours south of New York, said they received a report that the girl and her father were seen along Route 13 on Tuesday. Investigators canvassed the area and questioned drivers at rest stops, but didn't find any sign of the two.

Chrispin said the last confirmed sighting was Sunday night at Grand Central.

Also, the Massachusetts woman who told police Rockefeller paid her $500 to drive him from Boston to New York City said she had no idea anything was amiss.

Family friend Aileen Ang told WBZ-AM Wednesday that Rockefeller asked her to pick him up Sunday at the Boston Sailing Club. When she arrived, Ang said Rockefeller's daughter, Reigh, was with him.

During the ride, Ang said the girl seemed happy, telling her father she loved him.

After she dropped them off, Ang said she learned an Amber Alert had been issued and immediately called police.

Rockefeller used at least four known aliases, and a spokesman for the Rockefellers has said there is no indication the fugitive is related to the famous family.

I know of a really good solution to this kind of domestic problem. A vasectomy. I don''t have children and have made certain that I never will. That means I''ll never be paying child support or providing a gravy train for a soccer mom. The real fun part is in not telling anyone about it. Its possible that I may receive a free lunch program, but I won''t be providing one.

Did anyone ever stop and think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and when looking at a story like this one, try putting yourself in both places? I tried so hard but I still see that the mother is an instigator.I hope as a woman, that I would never take my child away from the man I had him/her with. No matter how much I hated him. My sister HATES her ex-husband but allows him to see his children all the time...you know why? Cause the love daddy too, it''s not just about mommy...when you do what this "shrew" did....THATS WHAT screws up a child. And now I am contradicting myself because the father has now done that. BUT SHE STARTED IT! It''s not like he ever harmed his child before, so why did he only get visitation rights? Something is not right. Sounds like someone knows people in high places.....hmmm And I thought it over and the litle girl seems like she is just fine with her father.

Her mother doesn''t even seem to care that much from the plea I saw. She''s actually really upset her husband has taken her out of time she could have spent working, and she is also mad he has taken her daughter away from her bedroom where she probably read books by her lonesome self. YEP shes in much better hands now. Pretend your the little girl. Pick a parent. I don''t know about you but I''d rather be going across country right now with my crazy but awesome father then stuck in a room by myself, not even knowing where my mother is or if she even cares.

Turns out he is a good Dad.
The X-wife is a power hungry beach.
Females deny and "kidnaped" children everyday from Dad''s.
The Courts make it hard on the man and allow the female to set all the rules!

How can you find a con artist? If the USA TV viewers do not recognize this guy? He must be from CANADA? South Africa? Maybe the UK? or down under? His ex wife should have some clues?

A great dad doesn''t have numerous aliases, or assaults a social worker in clear view of his kid, or kidnaps his kid. I''m sure their were verifiable reasons why the judge ordered these types of visits, in addition to why the former wife had her kid retain her name; at least the wife''s former name is legitimate and not an alias.

She probably doesn''''t even know what the kid looks like much less how she was treated.

And, given that she (apparently) claims she doesn''''t know what Mr. Rockefeller does for a living, she doesn''''t seem to know much about anything other than her career and how to manipulate the court.

The girl is much better off being with a parent who has time to care for her and who is concerned about her welfare. The shrew ("mommy") clearly does not fit that description.

The daughter whose nickname is Snooks was residing in London with her mother. She was sent to America to allow the dad a visitation as arranged by the court.

Mr. Rockefeller had ZERO chance of ever regaining custody of the daughter he loved so much since the court was clearly biased towards the mother.

I wish him well and hopefully, the little girl will quickly adapt to her new surroundings and find a suitable replacement for the shrew claiming to be her mother.

Good luck, Mr. Rockefeller, need anything, just let me know.

you are the guy who posts that children and grown ups should be allowed to have sexxx with each other aren''t you?

If he TRULY cared for his daughters needs over selfishly acting to fill his own, this mess would never have happened. And, he could have attempted to change the custody situation the correct way, through the courts - especially if that Mom is as neglectful and abusive as you have made up in your posts.

This Dad blew it, and ruined any opportunity to be a good Dad to his kid forever.

Usually supervised visits are called for, when the judge deems that inappropriate things could occur to the child if no one is there to supervise.

Judges do not mandate supervised visits unless there is strong evidence for sexual or physical abuse or information that cannot be proven but is strongly suspected to be true. Now what do you think this means for a dad who would knock down the case worker and steal his daughter? Thinks he just wanted some normal alone time--or maybe a different kind of "alone time?"

When the court grants one parent supervised visits only--there is a reason.

How about that, tucker had an interview with the mother, who told him all about what she thinks and feels about her child and her career...do go ON tucker, you seem to have some kind of clairvoyant understanding of that the mother is all about...

Tucker believes in grown men having sexxxx with 13 year olds and thinks society should stay out of it.

"A divorced father accused of kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter is a great dad and unlikely to cause the young girl any harm, a former babysitter for the family told CBS'' The Early Show Thursday."

Hmmmmm. Wives can''t even tell when their own husbands would molest or kill their kids--but a former babysitter can? yeah--right...and if he does harm "snooks" maybe the former babysitter should be charged with gross stupidity.

No one in their right mind would ever vouch for what another person may or may not do--especially a desperate person who has already disregarded the law.LOL

Unfortunately whatever the courts decide, that decision HAS to be followed regardless of others "opinions." This "loving father" (who is a liar to begin with) is seriously breaking the law and should stand in front of the court and take his medicine. Who knows what he is doing with this innocent child?

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU NEED SOME MEDICINE YOURSELF. THE REVERENCE YOU SEEM TO HAVE FOR THESE JUDGES IS THE SORT OF THING THAT SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR GOD OR MAYBE YOUR PARENTS.

If I see them here in NYC I''ll be sure to ask them if they need anything. Even Rockefellers sometimes need change or directions! Besides, this is one Rockefeller we could all like!
