Robert Steele, 32, of Gurnee told The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald that he went to the Sesame Street-themed party for his fiancee's 2-year-old niece on July 19, where the three men allegedly started teasing Steele that White Sox fans had missing teeth.
"We were going to leave, but they convinced us that they were just joking around," said Steele's fiancee, April Bieze.
The taunting got worse and more personal as the men drank vodka and beer and it escalated into a physical fight that involved all four men, Bieze said.
Steele's nose and orbital bone were broken and he lost his right eye after getting kicked in the face with a steel-toed boot, authorities said. He has been released after spending several days at an Elgin hospital.
Boguslaw "Bob" Czapla, 37, of Elmwood Park was charged with mob action and aggravated battery. His brother, Jaroslaw "Jerry" Czapla, 31, of Huntley and Maciej "Mike" Trojnar, 33, of Elmwood Park were charged with mob action and battery, said Huntley Deputy Police Chief Todd Fulton.
Trojnar was at large with a warrant issued for his arrest, Fulton said. The Czapla brothers were free on bond.
Jaroslaw Czapla's number was unlisted. There were no listings for Boguslaw Czapla or Trojnar.
Steele said he will be fitted for a glass eye and need more surgeries.
"Any mirrors I go by, I don't look in the mirror," Steele said. "I don't want that to affect me, to see myself like that."

- Maybe not. They were punks and if they drank than that changes their behaviour. I was a child many years ago. Blood from drinking and yes I was scared. Today they fly into rages at the drop of a hat.
I am too old for Big Bird and his gang.I am 53. People drink. I don''t. Holding a child''s birthday party at a ball park. Foster mums years ago had our birthday parties in the home. I will mark my 54th birthday quietly with my friend at home. Maybe a cake or sp dinner. - Reply to this comment

- My husband has an artifical eye. Please be educated they are NOT MADE OF GLASS. They are plastic and they are quite good. However, these animals should be sent to jail for a really long time, obviously they are NOT civilized enough to be AMONG the general public.

- Sista Tee, ye wrorg..I know he lost sight that he needs, It will change his life. With 1 eye ye can''t see alot of thing. YE NEED SIGHT IN BOTH EYES TO SEE PROPERLY. I lost sight in one eye as foster mother did hit me in the face as I am legally blind. Yes I am pissed. That was years ago. Why she did I don''t know as died years ago. They should not serve beer and the like at ball games. It is drinking in public. A crime as ye can''t drink in yer yard. Uncle did years ago and the cops wrote him DUI. HE WAS IN THE YARD. We have Qwest Field and next to it is the Mariners'' park. Drunks.. no Sista we don''t need booze. Drink at home if ye drink.

- Damm, being hit with steel toe boots is like getting beat with a metal pipe...enough force could kill. I guess the poor sap didn''t factor getting kicked in a beatdown...nor did he use basic math of subtraction either.
3-1=2 more idiots to fight. - Reply to this comment
- More alcohol at the games should solve the problem.

Now, because they did this in front of young children, shouldn''t they also be charged with child endangerment?
That seems to be the usual M.O for cops now-a-days.
And who in the hell goes to a party like that, and drinks in front of kids anyways?
What a world! - Reply to this comment

- Another example of stupid moronic barbaric boys gone wild. Why was the party at a place that served booze while minors were around? Not a very good influence and model for kids to aspire to.

- ) Three Chicago Cubs fans face felony charges after allegedly beating a Chicago White Sox fan so badly at a child''s birthday party that he lost his eye, McHenry County authorities said Monday.
This is so pathetic! Three Chicago fans, far less mature than the youngest child attending this birthday party!!!! - Reply to this comment
- You go to a Sesame Street themed party and what do you get? Too bad Big Bird didn''t help break up the fight and Elmo didn''t soothe the gang with a round of "I love you, you love me." There is no excuse for this kind of violence! Even Oscar the Grouch knows that!
