Denis Leary To Host "Fashion Rocks"
(CBS)
When actor Denis Leary ("Rescue Me") isn't helping firefighters or playing one on TV, he is delving into other projects - and this time it's hosting the fifth anniversary of "Fashion Rocks."
The entertainment special, which is presented by Condé Nast Media Group, will celebrate the best in fashion and music and will air on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
This year, the stellar lineup will include Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Kid Rock, Duffy, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, L'il Wayne, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Chris Cornell, One Republic, Pussycat Dolls, Solange Knowles and Timbaland with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd.
"Fashion Rocks" honors to the relationship between fashion and music, which go hand-in-hand when creating an artistic vision.
Ticket proceeds from the event will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a campaign for cancer research.
Leary, who is driven by good causes, started the Leary Firefighters Foundation in 2000 when his cousin, Jerry Lucey, and a childhood friend, Tommy Spencer, were two of six firemen killed in a firehouse in his hometown of Worcester, Mass., in 1999.
He later helped to rebuild New Orleans firehouses in 2007.
The Massachusetts native's films include Oscar-nominated box office hits "Wag the Dog," "A Bug's Life," "Ice Age" and "The Thomas Crown Affair," as well as "Suicide Kings" and "Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown."
His first big project, "The REF," has become a Christmastime cult classic.
His Golden Globe and Emmy nominations include Outstanding Supporting Actor for his role in "Recount" and Outstanding Lead Actor and Best Writing for his critically acclaimed hit series "Rescue Me," which he also co-produces.
He is even a success when he goes solo by garnering praise for his one-man shows "No Cure For Cancer" and "Lock n' Load."
Leary can also add author to his resume. His book, "Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid" will hit bookshelves this fall.
