President Bush's close friend and chief political strategist announces he's leaving the White House.

(AP)  Des Moines police arrested four people Friday who attempted a citizen's arrest of former White House adviser Karl Rove.

Rove was in Des Moines to speak at a fundraiser.

A news release says a retired minister and three members of the Des Moines Catholic Workers community were cited for trespassing and released.

The four accused Rove of election fraud and conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud the United States in the time before the Iraq war.

The arrest complaint also says they accused Rove of treason, sedition and subversive activities for fraudulent acts leading to the deaths of 300,000 Iraqi civilians and 4,000 U.S. Military personnel.

Kirk Brown and Mona Shaw, two of the four arrested Friday, attempted a similar arrest last March when Rove spoke at the University of Iowa.

Do you really believed the Iraqi people are safer and better off now? If you think that our next battle is invading Cuba to give freedom to them. Or is it really about the oil?
Posted by davidjones11 at 04:34 PM : Jul 27, 2008

No, I believe the Iraqi people would be WAY better off with Saddam Hussain still in power. Gosh I bet they really miss him. Did you see the long line of people praying at his grave every day?
Now the Iraqis have to figure out how to stop that long line of U.S. flagged tankers from stealing all of their oil and taking it to the U.S. Those Americans should not be bemefiting from their stolen oil. Just LOOK at how cheap their gasoline is now.

Yeaahhh...Riiiight...

I commend the people in Iowa who attempted this citizens arrest--whatever the government refuses to handle--the people must.

You people who would rather have seen Sadam Hussein continue to kill his fellow Iraqi''s by the tens of thousands make me sick. I''m sure if you been alive during WWII you''d have accused Roosevelt and his staff of "war crimes" for stopping Hitler and winning that war. You''d have wanted to arrest Truman for dropping the A bomb and saving countless lives, both American and Japanese, to finish the conflict in the Pacific Theatre. Sadly, there is no chance you will ever have a clue about anything, but here''s to hoping you fail in your attempts to poison other minds with your naive, venomous lies.

Do you remember 911????
We were attacked by terrorists from Saudi Arabia---Not Iraq.
Bin Laden was thought to be the mastermind---we knew he was in Afganistan.
Iraq had NO weapons, there were no terrorists or AlQueda in Iraq--none!

Bush sent more troops into Iraq than Afganistan--why?

This whole thinng so solely about 911--We were GOING TO CATCH THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR 911---Not invade Iraq---NOT to declare democracy in Iraq--we were SUPPOSED to get Bin Laden!!!

Where is he now? Anyone know?? Pakistan? Why is it, everytime our troops have Bin Laden in their sites-they are told by Washington to "back off"?

Iraq had NOTHING to do with 911--Iraq had NOTHING to do with 911--Iraq had NOTHING to do with 911.

911 Was a convenient diversion for Bush to "get" the oil in Iraq---NOT BIn Laden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Without the Constitution, what are we?

We would be exactly what we are now. Judges making laws up to fit the liberal idea of right and wrong, 80% of what the federals do now is against the constitution, a nanny state where you know you can make bad decisions because someone looking for your vote will hand you whatever you ask for.
Why stop there? How about 100% taxation? A complete socialist state? What, YOU don''t want to pay it, so someone else should and hand it to you? Sure. that will work...
It''s not about parties, it''s about a bunch of babies who want everything handed to them, so they don''t have to work, or even get an education. Both sides will be happy to buy your vote, so don''t tell me about that bunch of ***. They are all corrupt and on an ego trip, Americans are lazy, and it''s always soneone else fault. Sorry--it isn''t the liberals who said the Constitution was just a #$%# piece of paper.
If the aqverage citizen had broken the laws the Bush tribals have---they would have thrown un in jail and thrown away the key.

Congress being just as complicit in constantly giving Bush a blank check!

We need to get all these crimnals out--some have been in congress way too long---They shold have no more say on how to run this country--we need new people from the top down!

In resonse to the following nonsense posted by dougmsbbs (at 5:24 p.m. today): "Judges making laws up to fit the liberal idea of right and wrong, 80% of what the federals do now is against the constitution".

The federal judiciary -- which is much more than the Supreme Court -- is dominated by judges who were appointed by Republican presidents.

Going by years served, starting with Reagan, we''ve had GOP presidents 20 of the past 28 years. That alone backs up what I''m saying.

But don''t take my word for it -- look it up, fool.

After all, these matters are not a question of who yells the loudest (as in your heroes on hate radio), distorts half-truths and makes it seem there is no real truth, only personalities.

BTW: This is the first time I''ve posted on a national news site. Some falsehoods cannot be allowed to stand.

While a little over the top, the actions of the four private citizens are about the frustration people are feeling about the way the Bush Administration has performed. Certainly Karl Rove played a major role in forming polices for President Bush.

I think Bush and Cheney should be charged with crimes against the American people and be led out of The White House in handcuffs. Unfortunately that is not going to happen.

"Whenever the government refuses to address the people''''s grievances, the people have the right to redress them themselves. /or something like that/declaration of independence"

Absolutly! For years I have argued that we need to convene a constitutional convention and see if the people can take back control. I have changed my mind. The powers in Washington already have the power to force the agenda that would be discussed. In other words, they could, legally, dump the constitution completly.

For the other subject: Judges have for thirty years been making laws instead of interpeting them. That is one reason California has the record for the most over turned descions. Liberal judges.
To be fair, Bush and company have not done the peoples work. They still aren''t, and never will. They have worked for themselfs, and only themselfs.
I take offense not at a party. I direct it at any of the self serving ''public servants'' that bring us to such a state as we now have. The Democrats did it. The Republicans did it. Believe it or not, my partisan friends, both statements are true.
Imagine what would happen if all of us got together and found a way we can all live with to actually SOLVE some problems instead of just throwing things at each other? Think about. Hate''s not getting anyone anywhere...

I''m glad to see this kind of dedicated citizen action. However, sometimes this encourages darker elements in society who would attempt to dispense justice themselves: exactly the kind of thing the Bush admin is guilty of. I would not like to see a general aura of lawlessness take over the left, just as they are about to triumph at the voting booth, and effect REAL reform of the system there. Unilateral action might encourage a backlash from the public at large, making a substantive move in governance much more difficult and perhaps impossible in the near term. We''ve suffered too long, too hard to let things slip out of control now.

Get radical AFTER Obama is president, make real moves to uncover the Bush misdeeds at that time.

As for me, I''ll continue working alongside the LONGEST WORK WEEK in the developed world and the SHORTEST PAID VACATION TIME, for the LOWEST MINIMUM WAGE. For anybody wondering why, day after day, the citizens of American are outraged, disgusted and embarrassed by the actions of the CheneyBush government, here''s a key reason: Nancy "Impeachment-is-off-the-table" Pelosi, who unilaterally granted these criminals immunity from prosecution for their high crimes and misdemeanors.

This utterly incompetent political hack will go down in history as the worst Speaker of the House ever. She will live in infamy for openly declaring to the most criminal president and vice president ever that "You can do whatever you want, we in Congress won''t do our constitutional duty and stop your high crimes and misdemeanors. H*ll, we won''t even bother to open a serious impeachment investigation, and we''ll basically ignore Kucinich''s Articles of Impeachment for Cheney and his Articles of Impeachment for Dumbya. So go ahead, destroy the Constitution, abuse the Bill of Rights and make a mockery of the American democracy. We''ll look the other way."

Any rational person will hope and pray and do all they can to ensure that Cindy Sheehan defeats Pelosi in the next election.

Let this be a warning to Heir Karl Rove and others that in the days ahead they need to think about WHERE they are going to travel within the USA!

Friday it was four people in Iowa, next week maybe a dozen in Cincinnati, after that maybe two dozen in St. Louis! And if these groups start arming themselves as well, and are willing to subdue police who interfere with official business when arresting Rove, then he won''t get away so easily!

And some of those groups may just take a rope along with them to implement a sentence imposed by a citizens'' court who held trial in abstencia against Rove. I''d be careful if I were him!

Congratulations,Iowans. It was a nice try! You did in that one attempt more than our government and judicial systems whose members KNOW Rove is guilty! Well done!

dmw1167 said: "When we went to war in Iraq almost every Senator and Representative approved it, otherwise he could not done it. "

1. Congress approved under duress. Elections were a month away and 9-11 had the public in a mob-mood. Those few who voted their conscience got run out of office (and almost lynched). You know this, yet instead of asking: "who would schedule a WAR vote before a general election?" (Answer: someone for whom making political points was literally more important than the American lives hanging on the votes outcome). I can forgive many a (Republican as well as Dem) congressman for voting to save his/her career. I can''t forgive someone who''d casually throw that many American lives away to score a few petty political points (but, then, I can''t forgive Cheney/Rove anyway).

2. Congress made it clear that their approval was contingent on Bush''s promise to pursue the war only as a last resort. Bush broke that promise, and spent the ensuing 6 months manufacturing whatever evidence and threatening whatever former ally counciled caution. Its clear to most Americans, if not you, who caused the Iraq War. It wasn''t Congress.

Your tone is childish at best and causes people to loathe your pathetic attempt at discussion. You''re
certainly NOT taken seriously by most posters!

Mocking ubrew12 who''s merely pointing out the facts doesn''t make what you say credible! The GOP-controlled congress rushed to give Bush the authorization, they did so on his promise that war would be the LAST resort and not the first; he LIED, after getting the authorization, he launched HIS war!

Now those are the facts! You may not like them, but that''s how it is! Your precious fuhrer rushed to war.
Getting mad at ubrew12 or anyone else who points out the facts, isn''t going to change them! So, grow up!

You raise an interesting point, Andrew!
One, that I''ve wondered about myself.

There was a time when if someone outed an intelligence
agent, even if they were not well liked by their fellow agents, that the group as a whole would respond to the perpetrators!

It''s sad isn''t it?! The CIA doesn''t have the guts to get rid of a couple of people who took one of their agents out! They''ve lost their edge!

I imagine when Bush came in many of the best quit and the Bush administration replaced them with political hacks instead of agents who put country and honor first! The CIA is like most of the federal government now, it needs a general ''house-sweeping''!
