(CBS/AP)  The grandmother of a missing 2-year-old Orlando girl said that she believes her daughter does not know where her missing granddaughter is.

Casey Anthony, 22, is being held on $500,000 bond after investigators said she lied to them and did not report daughter Caylee Marie Anthony missing for more than a month.

Appearing on CBS' The Early Show, Cindy Anthony, the mother of Casey Anthony and grandmother of Caylee, said that her daughter had requested a sketch composite artist to do a drawing of the person she says took her daughter.

"She is saying that she will speak to authorities like the FBI," Anthony said. "She has been trying to cooperate. She has not changed her story. She maintains that she knows who has Caylee, but does not know where Caylee is, and I would like to make sure that this is set straight."

Anthony criticized what she called distortions in reports of Casey allegedly changing her story, or not cooperating with police.

"The first 24, 48 hours were very … we were all in shock and very frustrated," she said. "It's been reported she is not cooperating, does not want to speak with police. We were told we had to wait to speak to our daughter; we found out yesterday we could have spoken to her Wednesday or Thursday of last week.

"I'm not sure why people are doing what they want, but what I want is the media to report responsibly … because what we don't want to take away from all of this is that there is a missing child. That is a fact."

Anthony also criticized authorities who said that the person her daughter claimed kidnapped Caylee does not exist.

"There's nine people with that name in Orlando, Florida," she said. "There's four people with that name in Winterhaven, Florida. There's people with that name in Miami. There's four people in New York City, three in the Bronx. So, come on, folks. Someone needs to start listening to my daughter, and if it's not the local authorities, or the FBI, please, get involved in this case and come and interview my daughter like she's been requesting."

Her comments followed Friday's release by the Orange County Corrections Department of a July 16 call from jail between Cindy Anthony and her daughter.

In the call, Cindy Anthony complained to her daughter that she wasn't telling her where the toddler was. Casey Anthony responded angrily that she didn't know where the girl was.

"Are you kidding me?" Casey Anthony said.

Cindy responded, "Don't waste your call to scream and holler at me."

She added that her daughter's incarceration is her own fault.

"You're blaming me that you're sitting in the jail? Blame yourself for telling lies," Cindy Anthony said.

Prosecutors said in court earlier this week that Casey Anthony is a person of interest in what is beginning to look like a homicide investigation, though she has not been charged. Sheriff's deputies testified that her car smelled of decomposition, and a cadaver-trained dog noted a smell of human remains there.

Early Show anchor Chris Wragge asked Anthony, who he said has been very supportive of her daughter through many interviews with the press, about the recording of her telephone call released by the police: "It sounded like you're intimating maybe your daughter's not telling the truth and not being forward with authorities. Do you now believe she has been 100% forward with authorities and that you do believe everything she's saying?"

"I've said this over and over again: We all were in shock over my granddaughter being missing," she told Wragge. "Casey has maintained her story all along, that Caylee was kidnapped. That's the first thing she stated when the authorities arrived. She told me over the last month that the baby-sitter had her on many occasions when I asked if I could speak with my granddaughter. She made excuses for a reason, because she was trying in her own way to plead with this person.

"I asked her yesterday, while I spoke with her, 'Is there a message for this person?' And she said, 'Yes. I forgive you, and will you, please return Caylee?'"

Anthony also said her daughter had a message for her granddaughter: "Her message to Caylee is, 'Mommy loves you so much. Continue to be brave, because we know you are coming home to all of us. We love you dearly.'

"I was in shock did not know what to believe, and when I can step back and look at facts, I know what I believe."

Casey Anthony has been charged with child neglect, making false official statements and obstructing a criminal investigation.

In the same call, Casey Anthony said calling her family was a waste of time and told an unidentified female the family isn't supporting her.

"Nobody in my own family is on my side ... They just want Caylee back. That's all they're worried about right now, is getting Caylee back and you know what, that's all I care about right now," she said.

A telephone message left after business hours at the office of Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, wasn't immediately returned.

Cindy Anthony called 911 on July 15. In one call, she asked police to arrest Casey Anthony for stealing a car and money.

She told a dispatcher that she had just found Casey, who had been missing for a month, as well as the car she was driving, which had been towed. She also expressed concern that her granddaughter was not with Casey.

She called 911 again about an hour later, crying, after she said Casey Anthony finally told her Caylee had been missing for a month.

I think that Cindy Anthony is right. This case cannot be played out in the media. The ironic thing is that it is Cindy herself that is manipulating the media. She us using this forum to introduce doubt after doubt into the jury pool. Today, she floated the ideas that the local authorities are not handling the case correctly and the FBI needs to get involved. She also tried to introduce that family fears is the root cause of lack of cooperation and mixed messages. Please continue to report the storym but do not let Cindy Anthony continue to float bogus theory after theory to help her daughter "beat the rap."

My Mum has this saying *It will come out in the wash*. I Think they know what happened to that child. Family fights. missing for over 2 weeks..no way, With cell,laptop.etc. It stands to reason that they can talk with what is there today. Did she dump the child for a man. Mum did dump us on the town years ago as her husband told her to. He was not going to raise another man''s children, He didn''t. We went in to foster homes.

I could just cry for you, sweetie~~ I hope and pray that you rose above the horrible abandonment that you must have felt...Some people just shouldn''t be allowed to be parents....I believe that Casey Anthony is a sick individual and her precious little daughter has suffered the ultimate consequences because of it...The grandmother is a very confused and torn person, wanting desperately to find her missing granddaughter, but yet not wanting to believe that the daughter that she raised and loves is capable of bringing harm to her own child....

The little girl was sold as a *** slave so her momma could buy some crystal meth. The FDLS have the little girl now, and she''ll never be seen again except barefoot and pregnant in a kitchen.

I think the little one is dead. A Mum that won''t step upto the plate and tell the truth as she has to know ehere that girl is or her body. Parents have kilt their children for the dumbist reasons. They need to be fixed so they can''t breed. Unwanted children do end up in bad foster homes. I know that life. I asked thru the years WHY. I got my birth name back legally. I can never shake it that Mum walked out leaving me a 5 year old legally blind to care for a 3 year old sighted sister that I have not seen since we were small. I am 53. crzmeat he has not posted for some time went to school with my sister and brother. We went to diffent homes.
That lady put herself there and if she is unfit well that will come out. Surely it will. I am a sp needs adult and so is my room mate. We been together 25 years. Cops do do welware checks on people. Some one had to see the little one playing and them missing.

The daughter would rather let her mother and family suffer the rest of their lives. Looking for a child that is no longer with us, instead of admitting what she did. She was jealous of her baby and the attention she got. The mother deserves to rot in jail forever. This case makes me so angry.

This woman has quilt written all over her! May they find the truth of the where abouts of this poor little girl so the rest of her family can be at peace. I say hang the mother up in the middle of town and let all the other little kids stone her, however I am not a big believer in death penalty because then how would I be any different. The one above sees everything therefor she will reap what she soed ten times over for the damage she has caused to this angel of the maker and her loved ones.

As a Mother & Grandmother I find it extremely odd at the behavior of Casey and Cindy. There are a lot of pieces missing to this puzzle and now Cindy is wanting to dismiss her comments with regard to the 911 call. I sense a great deal of family dysfunction within this household and I believe that Casey the Mother is responsible 100% for the disapperance & possible death of this beautiful little girl. What''s more disturbing is that Casey obviously has some major emotional issues, which is probably what contributed to this disapperance. If as a Mother you truly believed you were innocent, why wouldn''t you share all the information you could (truth not lies) to help locate her. Obviously her own Mother thought something wasn''t right. All you have to do is listen to the 911 call. No her own Mother is in deniel and stating that the foul order was due to "Pizza in a hot car" Wake up Cindy. If you really love your daughter you will make sure that justice is served.

I got a e-mail about 3 or 4 weeks ago showing a missing little girl, It was a little girl standing under a tree it said missing had her name, age, height. I swear it was Caylee because I remember the hair was brown & it also said she had a mole or birth mark on her shoulder. The girls name was Caylee I can''t find it in my mail and I don''t remember who forwarded it to me. But it was before Caylee was reported missing. Did anyone else out there get the same e-mail? If so do you still have it?

How can a mom defend her daughter like this when she knows *** well her daughters whole story sounds fishy?

Why was the mom missing for a month? Because she killed the little girl and needed to stay away for awhile so she could come up with 8 different stories about a woman that supposedly took the child.

She had a whole month to dispose of the body so nobody could find it is why she stayed away.
She needs her azz kicked real bad.

Her mother knows deep down that her daughter is not being honest and knows exactly what happened to Caylee.

I also think she fears the worst has happened to Caylee somewhere deep in her mind but she refuses to face it, it is easier for her to hold out hope in a hopeless situation.

I also think this is similar to Casey herself, except she fabricates wild stories that she actually believes to explain to everyone what happened to her daughter. What is the worst is that it isn''t just to convince us it is to console her own mind and give her an alternative to what really happened so she doesn''t have to face reality.

Let''s face it this family is a few cards shy of a full deck!

It does sound very much like Cindy Anthony very much wants to believe her daughter, but she must know, deep down, that there is something very, very wrong with her daughter''s behavior. No parent wants to face the possibility that their child is a murderer, and even if Caylee''s body is found, she will be in the media asking all of us to find *the real killers.*

Maybe, Caylee''s mom KNOWS exactly where her daughter is, And nothing is wrong with Caylee, She is alive and well. You all come up with some RIDICULOUS assumptions, So here is mine, Caylee''s mom stole that car, Left for a month with her daughter, To get away from everything, and Knew she would be in trouble when she got back, and feared Caylee being takin away, (since its hard to get your children back, once there removed from your custody by the state) So she gave her to a friend. Maybe thats her reasoning. And she didnt want her daughter living with her crazy grandmother.

I do not know or claim to know any of the details or specifics of this case.

I think it is irresponsible for the police to release parts of a recording of a conversation between the mother and daughter''s phone conversation. This is slanting the case to lead the public to believe their theory.

They are trying this before it is even determined what the truth is in the court of public opinion.

I do not know if this poor child is dead or alive. I hope that she is alive and okay. I know there are many reports that the child is most likely dead - but until that is proven - they must do the right thing and remain open to the potential that the child is alive.

I refuse to play a part in being swayed by any of the bullstuff that is being thrown out here to make us think one thing.

I remember too well little Jon Benet and her poor family as they tried to grieve her loss. And now that it is too late to apologize to her poor mother - they have shown her and the family to be inocent in any participation of that tragedy.

Please think before you play with peoples'' lives and tragedies. Allow for inocence before being proven guilty.

Yes..Caylee''s Mom KNOWS where she is. And thats why she isnt telling them. Shoe doesnt want to be convicted of what she did, or for who did what to Caylee. All the publicity with this little girls face all over the world...someone, somewhere, if they had her, there would be people that would know if there was any change in activity with her. Daycare, the park, grocery store, neighbors....you people who believe the mother is innocent are blind blind blind!

The media writes only what sells, what they KNOW will get peoples attention, and outrage. They leave little chance of anyone, including this woman, of getting any sort of a fair trial, should it come down to it. I hope not, I hope the child is alive, and that they discover a good reason for the mothers behavior. We all should hold judgement against anyone, unless you are personally involved in the case.

May God''s grace wash all over you! How I hurt for you and so many, many others whose parents are not fit to care for the greatest gift they ever received. But how thankful I am that YOUR mom, as sick and morally weak as she may have been, at least had enough love to place you where you had a CHANCE of survival!! I hope that you have found people to love and who love you in return and that God has reached down and given you so much love and grace that you can forgive your wretched mother; not b/c she deserves to be forgiven, but b/c WE do not deserve to be forgiven and yet can be, (by God) if we ask. Oh dear one....I pray for an outpouring of love and grace for you and for any others reading this who have experienced abandonment and neglect from their parent(s).

what i don''t understand is, even on meth, when you come down some, you have some sense of...."hmmmm, I think something is missing, on ya, it''s my child!"
Unless of course you sold her or killed her.

Of course the daughter is whack, fruit doesn''t fall far from the tree.
Unfortunately she had way to much time to dispose of the body and they may never find that child.

I don''t know what information that the police may or may not have,so it is difficult to suggest their approach be different.Grandma, needs to think her brains out & begin pulling information from her daughter, or the daughter''s home & begin making a tally of a list of friends both good & bad, places she knows her daughter to have frequented & begin an accounting of her own timetable. Investigators have to begin to consider approaches to a list of obvious conclusions. 1-The child is dead.2-The child has been sold through black markets to settle a drug bill, or 3-The child was whisked away from the mother by the biological father & is in safe hands, suggesting the mother has something to hide that to her would be more costly than telling the truth. It could be possible for the kid to still be alive & the defense attorney may be fully aware & is bartering a deal w/the captor to safely return or publicly expose the kids well being as the lawyer tries to protect his client from a large list of criminal charges. The defendant%u2019s lawyer must at the same time deal with seeing their client being forced to experience public judgments via media coverage who without due process is returning a verdict of guilty before she ever meets her accuser. Most important at this phase of the investigation-is that law enforcement organizations leading the search turn over every rock, look beneath every bed & keep an open mind that the child/victim may be concealed in plain sight...
