Divorce Lawyers Shot To Death In Bed
(CBS/ AP)
A husband-and-wife team of divorce lawyers were found shot to death in their bed, police said Thursday.
The bodies of 50-year-old Mark Schwartz and his 48-year-old wife, Christina-Maria Petrowski-Schwartz, were discovered in their Brooklyn home around noon on Wednesday.
The New York Post quoted police sources as saying both victims were shot in the temple. There were no signs of a forced entry. Investigators found no weapon but did recover shell casings. Police say there was no reported history of violence between the couple or at their home.
A police source told the New York Daily News that investigators were "paying particular attention to the couple's business associates" in the search for their killer or killers.
The newspaper said the couple's German shepherd was found tied up in the back yard.
"We're all wondering how someone got near these folks," neighbor Nancy Inzerill told the Daily News. "It must have been someone the dog knew. Every time you pass there, he jumps up at the door."
The couple lived in a single-family home in the Marine Park neighborhood, an area residents call "the suburbs in the city."
