(AP)  A doctor missing since the day before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was added to the city's official death toll Thursday, months after an appeals court declared there was no other plausible reason for her disappearance.

The city medical examiner's office said that Dr. Sneha Anne Philip, 31, was the 2,751st victim killed at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

It cited the Jan. 31 court ruling in a brief release, saying the state Supreme Court's appellate division "determined that Sneha Anne Philip died at the World Trade Center. Therefore, we have added her name to the list of World Trade Center victims."

Philip's family went to court to restore her name to the victims' list. She was cut from the list in 2004 by officials who said they couldn't definitively link her to the site because she didn't work there and went missing a day earlier.

Philip, a resident physician at a Staten Island hospital, was last seen on videotape buying shoes and lingerie at a department store across from the trade center on Sept. 10, 2001. Investigators once thought she could have been a victim of another crime, or had disappeared on her own to escape troubles with her marriage and alcohol.

Her family believed she likely attended a party held by the city's South Asian community in a hotel in the trade center complex on Sept. 10, and died while helping wounded people in front of the towers before they collapsed.

"The evidence shows it to be highly probable that she died that morning and at that site, whereas only the rankest speculation leads to any other conclusion," the court wrote.

Her father, Philip K. Philip, said Thursday his family would attend this year's anniversary ceremony to hear his daughter's name read, as it was the first two years after the attacks.

"We waited and we waited, and everything came out right," Philip said. "Sadness is there all the time, but at last, you know, we are happy that they recognized that Sneha was a victim of 9/11."

A New York court issued a similar ruling in 2002 after the family of a computer analyst who worked several blocks away from ground zero fought successfully to add him to the victims' list. In May 2007, the medical examiner's office added the name of a woman who died five months after the attacks of respiratory illness linked to breathing in toxic trade center dust.

Philip's name will also be listed at the memorial to the 2001 attacks being built in New York. The number of people killed when four hijacked jets crashed into the trade center, the Pentagon and a western Pennsylvania field is now 2,975.

It is a shame it ook this long to recognize her as a victim. Hopefully this also gives the family some closure to ths tragedy.

What is sad though, is that they will never be 100% sure.

2)If the complainants are given status.As if they complained today for Yahoo-Domain name renewal fee jumping from $9.00/Year to $35.00/year.
My notification came in on July 7th,and fee change kicked in on July 1st-2008.
I''m sure there can''t be any strong facility to call in and accommodate Yahoo Board of directors.
Neither do I have hope,that Chicago court can initiate action against Yahoo "Suo Motto" aka. at its own motion.

But,I''m moved at my own motion to defend Coni,and I know monkey business either side of the Wire fence or cross border.
I''ll be putting in my penny-start auction for generating enough money to pay for the gas to be able to meet Coni for the very first time :)

Sneha Anne Philip- RIP!
But,If you are alive and doing your honest days work for living,you can''t be less important for society than Dr. Annemarie Schimmel.

Whilst most of South Asian community takes marriage as a contract for life, her troubling marriage is indicated here,and community has values & ethics to follow for custody,inheritance & release from marriage bond. Some societies wouldn''t allow a husband to marry 2nd time,if the 1st wife is alive
and has not given authorization or release to husband to marry some else.

Having said that,It is not evident what was the intention of the family to have Dr. Sneha Anne Philip, and what monitory benefit is available to the people went in Peace with WTC debris.

While this court case gives the direction for closure to the case of missing person.

Any claim by family or any one else for monitory benefits may get honored by way of debit or recovery from the benefits/claims of Lease Holder of WTC- Buildings.

911 was such horrible loss & sorrow for not only Americans,but Whole world.
There is no doubt in my mind that, each living being with sound mind & living in world society,either suffered emotionally or monitory,in certain cases on both.

Though Lord of Crossharbour is still learning monkey business, he got burnt due to blame of racketeering and fraud.
1) What would have been the claim of complainants, if Hollinger interests were held in LLC?

It is a bit of a stretch to automatically add her to the WTC count. What are the odds that she happened to be at the WTC on that particular day, especially if she didn''t work there and was already considered missing before the day. As far as we know, some psycho who disposed of her body got away with murder.

If this woman is dead, then may she rest in peace; however, it is really a stretch to attribute any and all deaths within a 72 hour window beginning 9/10 and within a 5 block radius of the WTC to be a result of the 9/11 disaster. Especially if they didn''t work onsite at the WTC.

If we are going to work with this guideline, then let''s add the guy living in Phoenix, AZ, who dropped dead of a heart attack upon hearing of the disaster.

Why stop there? Everyone who died, worldwide, during the 72 hour window beginning 9/10/01 is an official victim of the WTC disaster.

"months after an appeals court declared there was no other plausible reason for her disappearance."
~~~~~~~~~~
This is a stupid statement. There are any number of reasons for, and methods of, her disappearance. To say she died while helping survivors is as plausible as saying she was abducted by aliens.
What''s the current death toll of all the 9/11''s the United States has inflicted on innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan on its "war on terror?"
For those who follow the military reports, innocent civilians are referred to as "collateral damage."
And when and where will the memorial be built for all of these nameless souls whose lives were snuffed out in the name of "democracy?"
Speaking of STUPID - maybe you need to go get a DICtionary and look up plausible. People like you degrade the credibility of any intelligent conversation.
The definition of "trustworthy or seemingly true" could apply to either scenario. There are a million possibilities to explain what happened to this woman. The fact is that not one can be proven.
By the way, do you always come out of the gate name-calling? Your mother must be very proud of you.
American doctors kill 106,000 in the USA every year with medical mistakes. The wars in Iraq and Afghanastan claim fewer lives. Bring the troops home and send all American doctors to the war zone and the war should be over in about 18 months.
A story about a doctor who likely was killed by falling debris while tending the injured near the world trade center, for these morons, is just another excuse for spewing lies, ignorance, and hate.
Be ashamed of yourselves. The USA is not committing genocide, but we have put a stop to it many times over the last 60 years. People in Iraq are being killed by Islamic terrorists, but in fewer numbers than before ... the surge WORKED ... we know that you''re disappointed that your narrow little view of the world was wrong, but get over it. Going thru life self deluded will only keep you in that trailer park indefinitely.
Rollingstone mag is as much left-wing rag as Fox news is a right-wing banner carrier. Only committed "Party People" pull articles from type of sources.
"Genocidal policies?" What the hell are you talking about??? In Iraq, the citizens of that country no longer fear the torture, repression and summary executions under Saddam.
It''s a super stretch to make any claim she is "victim" of 9-11 knowing she went missing on 9-10...
And the family...I think they see $$$$ signs...
To those of you who suggest that getting a name on the list of WTC victims is a move to get money: the federal pool of money available to victims'' families no longer exists. It has not been since 2003.
