A look at the life and meteoric rise of the president-elect.

(CBS/AP)  Don't expect to see more of Barack Obama's young daughters on television any time soon.

The Democratic presidential candidate and his wife, Michelle, allowed the cable show "Access Hollywood" to interview their daughters, Malia and Sasha, as Malia celebrated her 10th birthday. The four-part interview began airing Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Obama said he had second thoughts after seeing how much attention the interview had received. The Obamas had been keeping Malia and 7-year-old Sasha out of the media spotlight.

"We had a unique situation in Montana where it was Malia's birthday, and all of us, I think, got caught up in the festivities, and so they had a chance to be their adorable selves on TV," Obama told Russ Mitchell on "The Early Show". "But generally we've been very protective of them. And you know, in retrospect, I think, you know, if you'd ask me, we probably wouldn't have done it then, and we wouldn't do it again."

In the "Access Hollywood" interview, Malia said she sometimes finds her father embarrassing, such as when he shook a friend's hand instead of waving to her or saying hi. Asked what makes their parents angry, Sasha said whining and Malia cited arguing with each other.

Probably because his kids were asked about what do you think of your father stating that he would rather have you get an abortion than be PUNISHED with a baby. OBAMA is a far left fraud. Dont fall for it you sheeple.

I saw this interview with Sen. Obama''s family and it was cute and innocent, just as kids should be! The real story is that Sen. Obama has a typical American family, is a real down to earth American and a Christian and not a closet Muslim! Sen. Obama is also not perfect, no one is, and he doesn''t try to be or claim to be!

so how does this compare to what will end up being the worst foreign policy disaster in american history (ie. the invasion and occupation of iraq)? is it better or worse judgement than that?

good idea ... boil it all down to simple a=b type relationships ... you wont want to intellectually tax those who think obama isn''t fit for the job ... but somehow the ''brush clearer'' was worthy of two terms.

I have what I THOUGHT was a great flip-flop chip. The OB74LS74. Turns out that unlike Obamalama, it will only do about 10 mhz, with nowheres NEAR Obama''''s reliability. ***. I paid 27 cents for it!!

Owel, maybe after Obama exploits his family for press-value, he WON''''T reliably throw them under the bus.
Then I will have made a wiiiiise purchase. Wish me luck!

Another Obama shuffle and change of "heart". Geez how naive is this guy anyway? Doesn''t he think things through before he goes and does them? Anything for a cheap on-air feature and pol promo. And this is what many want in a president? This candidate can''t make up his mind on matters involving his family and can''t make up his mind on matters involving serious national issues.

It is amazing taht we have a candidate with 2 adorable looking children and shows the family values taht the right says they espouse and all we get is some silly flip flop jokes. I guess these people have never had children and indulged them a little too much. When involving children we are all flip floppers. Get a grip, everything is not political.

I saw the interview and the girls are cute. If I were the parent, I wouldn''t want to subject my kids to the media scrutiny, either. There are way too many weirdos out there, as evidenced by many of the neo-con blogs here that take everything out of context and slant it to mean something entirely twisted, untrue and unrelated.

I enjoyed the interview and think that it was nice to see such a healthy family interact. I suppose he is afraid the girls might turn into a little Miley, Paris, or Brittany with the media''s attention. With these parents I don''t think there is a chance of that.

I watched the interview, his children are bright and adorable, they are just an American family who are raising their kids to be good Christians and Americans. No flip flop, or poor judgement, this interview was enough, theses kids do not need to be in the limelight anymore. No need to subject them to the morons like the ones posting on this boeard today.

Obama never should''ve placed his kids in this type of exposure. Most responsible candidates protect their kids from this type of exposure and now he''s surprised at all of the attention? Me thinks he doth protest too much. Again, Obama can''t make up his mind, then commits and then changes it again. Ergo, the Obama shuffle and change of "heart". He should just stick to his decisions and stop mouthing off about his regrets. Maybe next time he''ll really spend some quality time making a decision, including taking into consideration all of the impact or repercussions from his decision.

ridiculous. if he decides on something ... then determines afterward that his choice could have been better ... he should just stick w/ his initial choice?

It''s not the kids talking that''s the issue. He and his wife made the conscious decision to allow the interview. Fine, but now they''re having regrets for the decision because, well geez, they don''t understand why the interview is getting so much attention. Oh be real, are both of these parents that ignorant and naive? Obama should have just let the attention die down and it would be a dead issue, but he''s got take up air time to make sure people know everything he has going on in his indecisive mind. And there''s no such word as "stupiding". It''s amazing what some pass off as proper English. It''s also amazing that some refuse to accept the opinions of others, while imposing their own as the only credible one.

This isn''t quite the same as indulging your children in an extra cookie. This is a man who said he didn''t want the media talking about his wife, when his wife made public statements. This is a man who said he wanted his private life to be private and then had his children on Access. Not exactly believable is he?

It is a credibility issue. He has been saying all along that he wants his family kept out of the race and then he puts them up front and center.

I have no problem with the interview itself. I thought the kids were cute and it made the Obama''s seem like a normal American family.

My issue is with the fact that he says one thing (privacy) and then does another (publicity). My issue is with the fact that I think he knows the interview brought him closer to many Americans and now he wants to go back to having his family be untouchable. But you can''t have it both ways.

He needs to actually make a decision and stick with it.

From the above article and out of Obama''s own mouth "...Obama said he had second thoughts after seeing how much attention the interview had received. The Obamas had been keeping Malia and 7-year-old Sasha out of the media spotlight...."But generally we''ve been very protective of them. And you know, in retrospect, I think, you know, if you''d ask me, we probably wouldn''t have done it then, and we wouldn''t do it again." I guess what''s different is that he''s now the presumptive nominee and every bit of airtime for himself, his wife, or his kids, is free advertising. Too bad, he''s now regretting it and can''t take it back.

Typicla media ignoring past Obama statements on abortion. How about the one Where He Said: He would rather have his kids get an abortion than be "punished" with a baby. This is not the statement from a compassionate Liberal - he is ultra-liberal on abortion. The religious left and right shouldn''''t fall for him being a new Democrat. He''''s hard left. Don''''t forget those words of his. Being Punished with a Baby.

It''s called learning on the fly...this is okay. I hope we don''t have to learn the ''hard way'' under Obama just exactly what is meant by national security. But even then he''ll be granted permission to plead ignorant...didn''t know better...had no previous experiences to make him think other wise...blah blah blah...and then there is the line of thought that a certain number ''casualites'' are considered par for the course in any line of defense...hang in there...he''ll get it right eventually.

These family pictures seem like Obama propaganda. They''re trying to make the guy look human, although we know he''s just a Democratic Party darling who is totally unqualified for the office of president.

If he wasn''t black, he wouldn''t be qualified enough to be allowed by his party to run.

says who ... you? if he made a bad decision ... should he stick w/ that? if he made a stupid decision ... one that was deemed stupid after other information came to light ... should he stick with that?

so when you make plans to go somewhere ... and something else comes up that you didn''t know of ... do you ''stick w/ your original descision'' regardless of the new information.

never a feeling of regret ... never a rumination ... never a post analysis of your choices ... and never does this color your view?

likeitis5050,

According to the conservatives on this board they know everything about Obama from his childhood to his 20 years in his Church.

One thing that we all know is that he''s only been married once and has a longstanding marriage with 2 happy and well adjusted children as a result.

What we know about McCain is that he dumped the wife who stood by him during his captivity to hook up with a wealthy woman who could help his career . He hooked up with her while he was still married and while his wife was recuperating from a serious accident. So much for better or for worse.

We also know that Mrs. McCain has had issues with drugs and that Senator McCain has a gambling addiction and a temper which concerns even his most trusted Republican allies. Just the combination of shortcomings we need in charge of our national security.

dante805,

Forcing a child to become a parent is punishment for both the child having the baby and the baby itself.

If you don''t want children to have abortions then let''s properly educate children about the consequences of ***.

Obama''s statement was 100% right and appropriate.
