Barack Obama
A look at the life and meteoric rise of the president-elect.
The Democratic presidential candidate and his wife, Michelle, allowed the cable show "Access Hollywood" to interview their daughters, Malia and Sasha, as Malia celebrated her 10th birthday. The four-part interview began airing Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Obama said he had second thoughts after seeing how much attention the interview had received. The Obamas had been keeping Malia and 7-year-old Sasha out of the media spotlight.
"We had a unique situation in Montana where it was Malia's birthday, and all of us, I think, got caught up in the festivities, and so they had a chance to be their adorable selves on TV," Obama told Russ Mitchell on "The Early Show". "But generally we've been very protective of them. And you know, in retrospect, I think, you know, if you'd ask me, we probably wouldn't have done it then, and we wouldn't do it again."
In the "Access Hollywood" interview, Malia said she sometimes finds her father embarrassing, such as when he shook a friend's hand instead of waving to her or saying hi. Asked what makes their parents angry, Sasha said whining and Malia cited arguing with each other.

if he can''t handle that decision how can he run a country?
Another G.W. always looks confused.

so how does this compare to what will end up being the worst foreign policy disaster in american history (ie. the invasion and occupation of iraq)? is it better or worse judgement than that?
my words exactly

Can''t be any worse than the buffoon we have now.
George W. Bush is a classic example of the old American saying that literally "anyone born here can grow up to be President of the United States."
For the rest of you: Flip Flop Chip- That''s a logic IC such as the CMOS 4013B where the output changes state every time it gets a positive pulse on the input.
now i know, i guess we will see a lot more of this

good idea ... boil it all down to simple a=b type relationships ... you wont want to intellectually tax those who think obama isn''t fit for the job ... but somehow the ''brush clearer'' was worthy of two terms.
Owel, maybe after Obama exploits his family for press-value, he WON''''T reliably throw them under the bus.
Then I will have made a wiiiiise purchase. Wish me luck!

You should have gone with McCain. He flip-flops at over a GHz and requires no logic at all to do so.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
You and not Obama judgement is the reason he decided no more interviews.
Incredible how everyone in the world wants to know Obama''s pick for VP and to see his family but nobody cares about McCain''s family and VP pick.
*******
I guess people like you don''t have enough with picking your nose and lint our of your belly button. Incredible that you racist have something to say about everything.

ridiculous. if he decides on something ... then determines afterward that his choice could have been better ... he should just stick w/ his initial choice?
that''s the model the current idiot in charge uses ... and what a raging success that''s been.

So you have never indulged your children and then had misgivings? If you hadn''t you are not a parent.
The word you''re searching for is gall not gal.
Gal is in the English language but it wouldn''t make sense in your context.
You''re welcome and I suggest a rabies vaccination.

This isn''t quite the same as indulging your children in an extra cookie. This is a man who said he didn''t want the media talking about his wife, when his wife made public statements. This is a man who said he wanted his private life to be private and then had his children on Access. Not exactly believable is he?

The kids wanted to be on TV during the older girls birthday. Then to you it is some credibility issue. How cynical have we become?

It is a credibility issue. He has been saying all along that he wants his family kept out of the race and then he puts them up front and center.
I have no problem with the interview itself. I thought the kids were cute and it made the Obama''s seem like a normal American family.
My issue is with the fact that he says one thing (privacy) and then does another (publicity). My issue is with the fact that I think he knows the interview brought him closer to many Americans and now he wants to go back to having his family be untouchable. But you can''t have it both ways.
He needs to actually make a decision and stick with it.

So after being married to another woman for 25 YEARS...did McCain commit adultery all those years ago or is he still committing it? I would hope all of us could find a little forgiveness and not be forever judged by our past mistakes?

Get over yourself. You are cynical mccain supporter wants to play gotcha. If this is all yall have then give up.

It''s called learning on the fly...this is okay. I hope we don''t have to learn the ''hard way'' under Obama just exactly what is meant by national security. But even then he''ll be granted permission to plead ignorant...didn''t know better...had no previous experiences to make him think other wise...blah blah blah...and then there is the line of thought that a certain number ''casualites'' are considered par for the course in any line of defense...hang in there...he''ll get it right eventually.
These family pictures seem like Obama propaganda. They''re trying to make the guy look human, although we know he''s just a Democratic Party darling who is totally unqualified for the office of president.
If he wasn''t black, he wouldn''t be qualified enough to be allowed by his party to run.
1) Don''t count on it
2) It might be too late to matter
3)Banking on an inexperainced person to LEAD A COUNTRY is VERY DANGEROUS.

Fairly arrogant statement considering no one knows much about Obama...pace yourself...discovery is all around us...
[Posted by smiley676 at 03:53 PM : Jul 09, 2008]
says who ... you? if he made a bad decision ... should he stick w/ that? if he made a stupid decision ... one that was deemed stupid after other information came to light ... should he stick with that?
so when you make plans to go somewhere ... and something else comes up that you didn''t know of ... do you ''stick w/ your original descision'' regardless of the new information.
never a feeling of regret ... never a rumination ... never a post analysis of your choices ... and never does this color your view?
1) Don''''t count on it
2) It might be too late to matter
3)Banking on an inexperainced person to LEAD A COUNTRY is VERY DANGEROUS.

gleaning what you could from my sarcastic post...I see you feel strongly about national security...
According to the conservatives on this board they know everything about Obama from his childhood to his 20 years in his Church.
One thing that we all know is that he''s only been married once and has a longstanding marriage with 2 happy and well adjusted children as a result.
What we know about McCain is that he dumped the wife who stood by him during his captivity to hook up with a wealthy woman who could help his career . He hooked up with her while he was still married and while his wife was recuperating from a serious accident. So much for better or for worse.
We also know that Mrs. McCain has had issues with drugs and that Senator McCain has a gambling addiction and a temper which concerns even his most trusted Republican allies. Just the combination of shortcomings we need in charge of our national security.
Forcing a child to become a parent is punishment for both the child having the baby and the baby itself.
If you don''t want children to have abortions then let''s properly educate children about the consequences of ***.
Obama''s statement was 100% right and appropriate.
