Sex Teacher Expected To Cop Lesser Plea

Lawyer For Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With 13-Year-Old Student Says She'll Plead Guilty To Lesser Charge

(AP)  A former teacher accused of having sex with a 13-year-old student and fleeing with him to Mexico is expected to plead guilty to reduced charges, her attorney said Tuesday.

James Martin Davis, the attorney for 26-year-old Kelsey Peterson, said his client will plead guilty Wednesday to federal charges of having sex with a minor across state lines.

It's similar to the original charge of crossing the border to have sex with a minor but doesn't carry a minimum 10-year-sentence, Davis said.

A message left for the U.S. Attorney's office in Nebraska on Tuesday was not immediately returned.

Peterson and the boy left Lexington in October. They were found a week later in Mexicali, Mexico.

The boy, who is now 14, has told The Associated Press that he did not consider Peterson his girlfriend but that they did have sex.

Davis has maintained that the law under which Peterson was being charged was inappropriate because it was intended to combat forced prostitution.

"She's always said like I did, she'd plead to what she did do, but she wasn't going to plead to what she didn't do," Davis said Tuesday.

Davis said he expects his client will spend six to seven years in prison.

He said he hopes state charges, which include kidnapping and first-degree sexual assault, will be dropped. An after-hours call to the Dawson County attorney's office on Tuesday was not answered.

The Associated Press previously named the boy as police were searching for him but stopped using his name after authorities charged Peterson with a sex crime.

He was an illegal immigrant in the United States when he left with Peterson. He is back in Nebraska temporarily after being granted humanitarian parole by the Department of Homeland Security.

Kevzgirl: Your note requires a focal response. By ignoring the impact of sports as a metaphor of ***, you miss the entire reason for their existence. By promoting the "hard" sports, the ones bringing physical contact, dominance, "back ends","sliding into first" "pinning" etc, you are transferring and amplifying sexuality into the schools. An elegant study by a colleague of mine showed that the elimination of foot ball, and base ball, and wrestling and implanting more golf reversed the trends of male groping, "feeling up" and unwanted advaces and spontaneous "conversations" from men in High School, over one year, as well as teen age pregnancy rates. Unfortunately the State of Conn would not eliminate those "sport" programs, but we are still pushing this within the State COURTS.
It is not a "crazy" idea, if you open your mind to the facts.
There is no reason on earth for us to sanitize these "sports" or for my and your tax money to support such portional- sexual expeditions into disruption of the balance young women need . Men can not dominate us, if we fight back.

I want to thank you for all your comments. I tell my students that the first step in learning is to hear other voices, and ideas, that may be in conflict with the "tape" in your head, your own convictions may be demons placed there by societal forces, not within your control. Yes , you may not at first agree as new ideas outside of your hereditary "comfort zone" chafe against the big boys of your brain - male dominance, servitude, BREEDING, and drudgery of housework, all programed responses to expectations.
My students listen, consider, and learn.
And...I have a feeling that I have made a wider impact with a few enlighten posts that have brought some degree of academic frontage to the backwater locals, Janes and Joes, about to enjoy the 4Th of July. Perhaps on this glorious day celebrating the freedom of one people- people of Color-from slavery- 200 years ago, we may all work for the freedom of the female gender, soon. So men, do not force your "spouse'' (What an ugly word- sounds like out ! out!) to do your chores, dishes, or forced sexxx today. Give her a day off from her servitude as well.
I am not offended by hearing other voices, are you ?

I am someone who normally does not get to riled when I hear about college professors with agendas because I believe most students can see the agenda and make their own opinions. However, my stomach turned a little when I pictured students feverishly talking notes from a lecture with "Women and the World" Professor HamiltonGRAD.
Better uses for this note paper can be found in the boys And girls bathrooms.

HamiltonGRAD: Just WHAT kind of upbringing did you have, to see something se-xual in baseball/football/soccer? That is just perverted, IMHO. The fact that this "mature" 26 year old WOMAN would have se-x with a BOY half her age is sick, and IS A CRTIME, and therefore SHOULD BE PUNISHED. If it were a 26 y.o. male and 13 y.o. female student, the man would lose his teaching license and spend a long, long time in jail - the ONLY inequity here is that she won''t do more than 6-7 years. Pedeophilia, regardless of the se-x of the perpetrator, is still WRONG and they should be punished the same.

HamiltonGRAD: How can you even be considered a "Professor" with the mentality that you have proven to us all. In a logical way of speaking, what you say and what you are does not make sense. And after reading the last few comments, at early in the morn'', it seems as though you are talking in your sleep.
Now wake up, shut up, and bring me my danm beer, wench!!!

A full professor of.....wait let me guess....women''s studies.

With that degree, being a professor of said degree is the only job available to you. So you sit around all day dreaming up perceived societal imagery of the proverbial male thumb squeezing down on women...keeping them from achieving anything in life and causing them to commit crimes because they have not the capability to have an original thought in their head.

I am going out on a limb here but I wouldn''t be surprised if 99.99999% of women would take offense to you characterizing them as subservient dolts incapable of an unbiased thought and action. That every action in their life (good or bad) is because a man forced her into it. I say good actions also because if all the bad things are caused by men, then by extension that also means the good things also are caused by men. Can''t have it both ways.

Toldy, thank you for your response and thoughtful comments, yet you ignore the fabric of the entire society. She is a victim, for all the reason you elegantly stated. Temporal rules do not negate who wrote them and why , or should we all be sheep ? There would be no vote for women or people of Color. So... we must speak out.

And yes, I am a Professor, a full Professor, and a published author. Good night !

Stop pretending you are a professor. The fact is this "grown up" was as an educator, well aware of the laws governing conduct with minors as it is SOP to drill that into every teacher''s head. She knew the parameters of her behavior and she willingly breached them. As a responsible person, regardless of gender, her actions have resulted in exactly the ramifications she was warned about. Of course she knew that which is why she fled to Mexico.

On another note, her actions and her physical makeup appear to indicate someone with emotional as well as potential psychological problems. In short, she looks hard up and immature--her actions bear that out. REgardless, the law is if a person over 18 touches, seduces or in any way compromises a child into sexual activity--that person is guilty of a crime. A victim implies no fault of the teacher. She was at fault for allowing any relationship to stray from teaching certain subjects and to become personal. She then compounded it by spreading her legs--her problem and she should not be allowed to plead down--time for us women to pay similar prices to the men. The fact that frequently, these teachers get house arrest and reduced sentences may be the reason why there is a veritable epidemic of fvcked up female teachers.

I''''m talking about emigration en masse. This isn''''t about saving a middle class in America, it''''s about everyone under the age of 40, who''''s not a Republican and can successfully integrate into some other country''''s workforce. It''''s not just America that has a shrinking work-force and growing retirment community, it''''s just America that has chosen or succombed to feeding it''''s ravenous upper-class welfare and Constitutional parasites to the point of non-recognition.

You should know that all western countries have strict laws against limiting or NOT allowing Americans to infiltrate their work forces. In India, Japan, China and other countries, there are numerous markets we cannot infiltrate and we must provide at least 95% of all jobs to the local people. In addition this is true in Europe also. Jobs open to the EU are usually NOT open to Americans unless they come in as EX Pats with the American company paying their way. Local businesses or American businesses in Europe must adhere to local rules and must ensure that the local population have almost all of the jobs--this is to protect their work force. America is the only country that is pimping her intellectual info out , and selling out her own country--that is because the short term buck trumps ensuring a viable society for us--what happens when capitalism has no parameters or limits/guidance.

Why am I so offended ?

After all this, what should I expect ? I want to be serious and educational , as I am in class, where people are graded and thus listen, and surprisingly even the harded males "get it'' by test time !

One thing never fails, indoctrination by the media !!... And don''t you think by the very photo used, the men (seeing a pretty girl, "up for grabs" so to speak, won''t be drawn to this story, and to do unlawful and predatory things. This is not some sport, with a trophy girl to "buy" with "beer" or good looks !

That is why we have suggested that most male sport be banned, - exclude tennis and golf-- but no to foot ball and base ball-- or at least strongly forwarded by explaining just why males feel they need to "tackle" a foward, kick a ball through a vaginalll like edifice ( by GOWD!), slide "into third" (obvious now isn''t it !! etc. It is all in preparation for unwanted "penetration" and violation. The metaphors are ripe and bountiful/-/. Thus, we need a re- direction, so as to make a "fire wall" to stop this insane teaching again and again of men , how to dominate, denigrate and "touch down" themselves only, and not us !!
It is so clear that it is actually pathetic.

HamiltonGRAD...
As a feminist and a college Professor (Women and the World), I an shocked that this poor woman has been treated as if she is a criminal.
She is a victim.
What type of social / school pressures was she under at this school. She is obviously an attractive person, and we need to know if she was the center of "jokes" by male staff or students, thus forcing her into a role she did not want to play . Just because this was a ''''boy" does not mean that he could not prey upon a female. In fact he sounds pretty "grown up". He is not an 8 year old.
As an adminstrator, I see the stress that women teachers have in dealing with any males over the age of 12, even so called "teenagers" - In truth, they are the most free to dominate girls in the classroom. In doing so , they want to step up to dominate the teacher as well. Sports for boys should be banned, as they encourage Boys to act like men, we do not need football, or baseball, or wrestling, as they just encourage the stereotype of MALEness, when in fact school should do all we can do downplay those primitive impulses.
This woman, like all woman , is not to blame. We all all.
------------------
This has to be the single most ignorant statement ever articulated by an "educated" human being. HamiltonGRAD, you may want to schedule a CAT scan. There is clearly something wrong with you.

hamiltongrad,

You scare me if you really are an ''educator'' as you profess. In your eye, any woman''s action that is deemed illegal in our system of values, is innocent because in some way, shape or form'' a man or a man dominated society is the root cause?

That rationale for that line of thinking is just too stupid for any reasonable human to even consider.
