O.J.: Prosecutor Is Persecuting Me

Simpson Says Nevada DA Is Only Pressing Robbery Case Against Him Because Of His Notoriety

(AP)  O.J. Simpson says an ambitious Nevada prosecutor is pressing a kidnapping and armed robbery case against him that he says even the alleged victims don't want to pursue.

"If I was anybody else, I wouldn't be going to court," Simpson told a reporter for Fargo, N.D., radio station KFGO who interviewed him late Tuesday at a Fargo cigar bar. Simpson was vacationing in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

"How many trials have you ever heard of where both of the victims say they don't want this guy to go to jail, they don't want to go to court, and you still go to court?" Simpson asked. "It's only me.

"But unfortunately for me," Simpson said, "I got like a bull's eye on my front, dollar sign on my back, you get involved with people who want to be governor and stuff."

Clark County District Attorney David Roger declined comment.

Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, said Thursday that Simpson was venting his frustration about facing trial Sept. 8 in Las Vegas on charges carrying the possibility of prison time.

"I think O.J.'s comments show how totally frustrated he is over this incident that involves family heirlooms that were stolen from him by some very nefarious characters," Galanter said.

Galanter also downplayed Simpson's comments about the prosecutor, saying that he had the "utmost respect" for Roger and another prosecutor in the case, Chris Owens.

"I have no reason to believe their motives in this case have been anything less than ethical and honorable," Galanter said.

Simpson and two co-defendants, Ehrlich and Clarence "C.J." Stewart, have pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges stemming from allegations they robbed two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room last September. Simpson has denied any guns were involved.

A kidnapping conviction carries the possibility of life in prison with the possibility of parole. An armed robbery conviction would mean mandatory prison time.

OJ has ridden on who is for his whole life and he says this. Brother. As far as anyone thinking his case is because he is black, give me a break. It is because he committed a crime. Susan Smith is in prison. Phil Spector should be, but most of the jury felt the prosecution did not present enough evidence and the others, well, those creeps llives are ruined. Yes they probably should be in jail, but I don''t believe for a minute it is because they are white, otherwise OJ would be in prison for life because he is black and a murderer. I suppose the poeple who think he is being harrassed are the same ones that think he didn''t kill Nicole or Ron.

Yes they are pusshing for this robbery conviction because everyone knows he is a murderer that should be behind bars. If this is all they can put him away for, at least its something.

Someone said this is a racist thing because of all the white people that got away with murder. Please do not forget to put Bill Clinton on your list.

Bill Clinton has had his hands in the deaths of over 40 individuals who just happened to be coming forward the next day with information that would have put Bill and Hillary away for a long time.

They all died misteriously. Failed Brakes, Airplane Engine Trouble, A Single Gunshot Wound To The Temple... Coincidence? Please!!

The Clintons should be in prison right along with O.J. Simpson. They are all MURDERERS and we all know it. Well those of us that are informed know it. ''Sorry to disappoint all you Dem Libs with the TRUTH. I know how you guys can not handle the TRUTH. It really gets in the way of your polital agendas, does it not?

Speaking of people that should be taken from society, have you seen Barack Obamas latest comercial where he claims to have passed a bill and it was found out that the vote passed 91 to 3 with 6 senators not voting.

Guess what? Barack Obama was one of the 6 that didn''t even vote for the legistlation. While we are putting people (criminals) away, why do we not add Barack to the list.

It is only a matter of time when all will see who he really is.

Why do you think he does not want to have any town meetings with John McCain? Because John McCain will clean his clock.

Out of TEN (10) invitations from McCain, Obama agreed to two meetings with one taking place on the Forth Of July (while most of us will be out of the house watching fireworks and having a hot dog.

What is Barack afraid of. Are the sound bites about to run out for him?

You will never be in the White House, Senator Obama. There are more of us out here that are smart enough to know better than you think there are...

Maybe O.J. can join your campaign. He is a pretty good liar too!

Well, all circumstantial evidence point to the fact that OJ had motivation and means to kill his ex. However circumstantial evidence does not work in criminal cases, just civil cases. So he won the criminal case and lost the civil case. The complex the problem for prosecution, one of the star witness was a blatant racist who admitted on tape to hate Jews and blacks and would plant evidence. The chances are that he planted the bloody glove because he had the motivation and opportunity to do so. The jury was not sympathic to OJ, they were just angry on Fuhrman. They were also angry on Marsha Clark for hiding the fact that the star witness was a crook.

The trial had turned from OJ to Furhrman and Marsha Clark and that is why OJ got away with the murder.

The man killed his wife and her friend and got away with it. His skin color has nothing to do with it. The only reason he got off is because he had a brilliant legal team, and the prosecution totally screwed up. He beat the system. Now he thinks he''s entitled to beat the system. Hopefully this prosecutor won''t drop the ball this time. OJ needs to shut up already and take his punishment like a man.

There are many people who are or should be labeled sociopaths; however, this doesn''t mean that they would do the things that OJ Simpson did. Our court system may not be perfect, but I believe it to be one of the best in the world.

I am more concered on those who hate others because they may not look or act quite like themselves. What do we label them? Racist with hate deep deep in their hearts, possibly passed on through many generations.

I disagree that most people despise OJ because he is a murder. Take a deep look at our histoy in the United States. Did all those black folks that were hung, lynched, beat, whipped murderers? I think not. We have come a long way, but not long enough.

OJ butchered 2 people like hogs back in 1994. Not only did the evidence clearly show it, but the civil trial found him liable, and OJ''s own words in his book "If I Did It" clearly detail how he did it. It reads like a confession. The only reason OJ is not serving life for those 1994 murders is:
(1) He had some excellent lawyers who found a way to turn the case 180 degrees around from putting OJ on trial to wrongly putting the police and lab technicians on trial.
(2) The prosecution got sloppy and over-presented the case. They gave an accurate but highly complex case to a jury incapable of understanding it.
(3) The jury was not very bright or educated at all. They actually thought that that the fit of a glove was more convincing evidence than DNA which pointed to OJ to the exclusion of everyone else on the planet.
(4) Race. Somehow the trial became more about race relations than the murder of two people.
(5) Celebrity. It is well-established had OJ not been famous, and just another guy, he would have easily been convicted.
OJ being found not guilty was a "perfect storm" of all the elements above. It''s unlikely he will be lucky enough to get such a freakish storm again in Las Vegas. I wish good luck to the prosecution in this. It is time for OJ to go to jail for SOMETHING. Karma has finally come around to deliver the bill, and OJ will pay.

Say as you please, but I hope you understand that you will eventually be judged on what''s in your heart. And by the way, blacks are far from perfect also. Many of them do bad things and eventually will have to answer for them in the afterlife.

Oh yeah, did you notice how Barack Obama''s name mysteriously made its way into the comments on an article about OJ. People are really having hard times accepting that fact that a black man could possibly make president. Barack''s name should not have made it into these posted comments, but that hate is really embedded deep deep in the hearts.

I think Simpson is guilty of robbery and i think he is guilty of murder. That is because witnesses said he robbed that guy, and as far as the murder if he wasn''t guilty why in GOD''S NAME DID HE RUN?
