Barack Obama
A look at the life and meteoric rise of the president-elect.
"Her involvement in the campaign is welcome news and we're very excited about it," said Tom Daschle, national co-chair of the Obama campaign.
On Thursday, she will introduce Obama to her key fundraisers. On Friday, they campaign side-by-side for the first time. Democrats are practically salivating over the potential positives Clinton brings with her.
"I think Sen. Clinton has a tremendous role if she wants to take it, in the campaign," Daschle said. "She has an extraordinary following all across the country -- among women, among minority groups, among working people."
Clinton's help in soothing the bad blood between the campaigns is critical -- history has shown how important that can be:
When Senator Ted Kennedy challenged Jimmy Carter for the nomination in 1980, the battle became bitter -- and the fallout was fatal.
"They never made up in a convincing way and it was one of the reasons why President Carter lost," said Mike Allen, Politico's chief political correspondent.
But the biggest plus Clinton offers is cash. Obama, who just a few days ago broke his pledge to rely on public financing, needs those checks.
"The campaign could not afford for all these supporters to take the summer off and lick their wounds," Allen said. "They want them to be in there raising money, giving money right away."
Obama's May fundraising report reveals a slowdown: $23 million in contributions, more than $7 million less than a month earlier. Rival Sen. John McCain was close behind. But analysts predict Clinton's supporters could produce a surge of up to $75 million.
"Money is important in a presidential campaign," said public opinion analyst Mark Mellman. "Most of Barack Obama's money is coming from small contributions. But every dollar matters and being able to get those Clinton fundraisers is very important for his campaign moving forward."

Those were all truly evil men, but not as evil as Roosevelt who ushered in the ''New Deal'' aka Socialism.
Yo! Have you forgotten already? Hillary camp is the one with debt.

Posted by lorinkundert,
Let me get this correct. You are calling Roosevelt an evil man for bringing the new deal? Have you ever considered the fact that if it wasn''t for Roosevelts actions to rebuild the nations infrastructure, we would not have been able to ramp up manufacturing as quickly as we did to supply our military needs in WW II. Given that fact its very possible if Roosevelt had not been president Hitler would have won.
I suggest you do a little reading about World War II before you make statements regarding how evil Roosevelt was!
Roosevelt was a great president who did more for his country than any other president.
Oh sorry,
Thought I was reading a NEWS worthy story.
This is obviously now the comic section.
Right wing toad and troll.

The arrogant elitist oligarchs have attempted a corporate hostile takeover threatening to dissolve the american democratic founding principles of representation for a diverse population of citizens, not a special select few. Some believe america should belong to those who own the gold but that is precisely what this republic was founded in opposition to namely oligarchies be they tribal or other.
Like a criminal sociopath, the right wing republican neo cons became more brazen and careless with their rhetoric. They promoted Bush and he did the american people one favor. Bush exposed the anti-american plot of the right wing corporate neo cons which is to overthrow the people ( get big public government off their backs ) and replace it with private oligarchic elitist right wing rule. The true axis of evil has been exposed.

When you post stuff like that, you really should explain what you are talking about.
Otherwise, it just makes you sound like you must be a good typist, ''cuz the men in white coats HAVE to be chasin'' you down the street...

This is more of the filthy dirty tricks of the right wing. These same ruthless corrupt bloggers were saying only a few months ago that if Hillary were to get the nomination they would vote for McCain but if Obama got the nomination they would vote for Obama. Right wing republicons are the opposite of everything they say. They have no principles. They are criminal sociopaths and use whatever means they need to achieve their end. The Klingons had more honor.

LOL! Good luck with that.......HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I wish i could believe obama but there are too many issues for me to believe him, and he has not answered them.
Well said.
I will at least feel my vote wasn''t wasted on obama or mccain.

Yah - is like saying "I was going to support the Titanic but now I''m going to support the iceberg.".
Same thing in the end - one sinks, and the other melts away into oblivion...
No problem. As a lifelong Democrat I hope a lot of people vote for him. I strongly encourage many to do just that.
I hope you are right and that something doesn''t happen to renzsko before he can testify.

And I will make it easy for you: All you have to do is copy and paste your sources, evidence - whatever - in and click "publish".
I am not disrespecting you but i have a question. Why would anyone vote for a party just because they have always belonged to it ? I have never belonged to a party for that reason. I disagree with your choice but respect your right to decide what you feel is the right decision.
Perhaps so but my integrity remains intact as i am sure yours will when voting for who you think is the best choice. I canot in good faith back obama or mccain.
I actually did vote for a republican for president once, Gerald Ford in 1976. Ever since then I have always voted democratic because every time I have honestly thought they had the better candidate.
Oh and I voted for Arnie as Gov here in CA.
I wish i could believe obama but there are too many issues for me to believe him, and he has not answered them.

There is no human one should look upon as the trusted messiah. It has been this blind trust and non-participation that has led to american citizens coming very close to having their democratic nation underhandedly transformed into a corporate special interest oligarchy. Americans have grown fat and trusting and the predators who have always been out there have gained advantage by wearing sheep wool mixing religion and private corporate interests in with government. Be vigil but vote for Obama. The right wing neo con party has failed the american founding principles in spite of what they think or believe, they have. Anyone who has been associated with and campaigning for this ideology cannot be trusted on the basis of stupidity, poor insight, lack of vision or outright corruption.

And I couldn''t support Barr - I want to be a citizen of the United States of America - not a member of some tiny hunter-gatherer tribe squabbling over the carcass of a dog because I didn''t think government - and by extension, civilization - was a good idea.
This emphasizes my beliwefs, it is the candidate and what they will do not the party. I also voted for clinton and am very happy tthat he left us with a great economy.
Posted by ibsteve2u at 11:24 PM : Jun 22, 2008
I''ll go along with that. Barr thinks the answer to bad government is no government at all, instead of just fixing the government you have. Government is NOT the problem (in spite of what the idiot Reagan said), BAD government is.
For the very reasons you posted i cannot support obama. Too many unanswered questions and too many lies. I do not trust the man. I wish the DNC had gave us a black candidate i feel is qualified to be presidet.
Perhaps so but my integrity remains intact as i am sure yours will when voting for who you think is the best choice. I canot in good faith back obama or mccain.

The thoughts of a defeated republican that is seeking to mitigate the damage by encouraging non-participation. To vote on so called "principle" is to choose not to participate. Non-participation is the apathy the republicons seek from the people. This is the poisonous attitude and rhetoric that was used against the people by the republicons. The big government is corrupt, it''s not to be trusted, why vote?...that was the neo con manipulation of getting the people to not participate.
At least we have the same moral convictions if not the same candidate. I think obama has fooled a lot of Americans.
I am very relieved and pleased to once again see that Hillary Clinton proves her critics wrong over and over again. The critics clearly have some growing up to do.
I can see many angry grumpy old men mimmicking a "Fred Sanford" act about their phony heart attacks when Hillary Clinton speaks. Yes, "This gonna be the big one!!!" "Hillary is going to be the VP."
I am just loving it!!!

Given the example the Republicans have set these last thirty or so years, I can understand your skepticism.
