(CBS)  A New York congressman has introduced a bill that would create 1,000 new visa slots for foreign fashion models. Democrat Anthony Weiner said the measure would boost New York's fashion industry.

"From Fashion Week to our vibrant publishing industry to the many designers that call New York City home, fashion is a vital part of our economy that drives thousands of jobs," Weiner told the New York Daily News.

Overseas models currently compete for so-called H-1B visas, which are intended for highly skilled foreigners who may be computer experts or doctors. The models have not done well, with only 349 slots going to models out of the 85,000 available, the New York Post reported.

New York's tabloid newspapers said Weiner, 43, is currently dating Huma Abedin, a Hillary Clinton aide who has posed for Vogue magazine.

Not everybody is hot for Weiner's bill.

"Forget trying to bring in new meat," ex-supermodel Janice Dickinson told the Daily News. "Let's divvy it up between the Americans on American soil, please."

Weiner is a true liberal in the sense that, as all liberals the news outlets will look the other way and kill the story. he should resign from office if he cares at all about the taxpayers and citizens of this country. How come when a Republican becomes involved in a scandal, they and there party demand they step down and a Liberal gets a free pass from their own party? How come the F.B.I. isn't investigating him, yet always has an investigation for a republican or conservative? Anthony Weiner is just that a weiner. Then he has the audacity to introduce this bill on the foreign models.

I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain. %u201CAdmittedly there is a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face--that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight and surrender.%u201D (President Reagan, 1964. USA''''s PLEDGE 2 THE WORLD GIVEN BY JFK!!

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty." - John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 1961

"Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." - John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 1961

"Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of American, cannot succeed with any lesser effort."-- President John F. Kennedy, January 29, 1961

One ought never to turn one''''s back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Winston Churchill

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke

Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. ~D.H. Lawrence, Classical American Literature, 1922

Supreme Court maintains post-9/11 course on Gitmo
The Supreme Court''''''''s 5-4 decision Thursday declaring for the first time that Guantanamo detainees have a constitutional right to a hearing in U.S. courts is a milestone. It also reinforces a familiar court pattern in the post-9/11 world of insisting on judicial review of detainee cases.

Gosh!!! I thought the US is the grenary of beautiful, tall, shapely models. With the current hair coloring and colored contact lenses, you could get them in any shape or color.
Is that what Senators worry about? Models? With the 5.5% unemployment rate, I''m sure there are enough professional modelling schools who can reshape and revamp enough unemployed to work as models.
ith all the disasters going around the country, couldn''t the Senators focus on solutions, rather than day-dreaming about beautiful girls. Get a wife and family and get to work.
Resolve how to fund $16 trillion for the renovation of the country''s infrastructure, so that the population is not exposed to disasters and their deadly consequences.
Are taxpayers paying for his salary?

Typical self interested Congressman. America has all these problems and he is expending his political capital on this frivolity.

This Congressman has a motive for this oddball request and it isn''t to improve the lot for Americans. He has either been paid off by some special interest or he has an interest in more foreign models to date.
