"I for one was shocked," admits D.A. Hautzinger. "I've been a prosecutor for 20 years and this is the first time I've encountered somebody from that socioeconomic level and that kind of family involvement to be involved in this business."
Sessions with Carrie could include stripping, dancing and role-playing.
On one Web site, she suggested that clients can pay for "extras," such as topless and nude massage.
"I think for Frank and Suzie that the thought of their daughter even doing that-it didn't even cross their minds because it's their daughter," Callie says. "You don't think your daughter's gonna do that. So I think for them it was a really, really big shock."
As upsetting as it was for Paige’s family to learn about her secret life, they were convinced she turned to the escort world for one reason only: her children.
Paige had three kids to support and a huge mortgage to pay, nearly $6,000 a month. "You know, it never really made sense to me that she would be able to come up with the mortgage for that place for more than a couple of months," Craig remarks.
Her friends say Paige did what she had to do and turned to the one job she knew would pay well. "And it has no bearing on the kind of mother, friend, that she is," one of her friends told Dow.
"She always saw a situation and got it under control. If something needed to be done, she made sure it happened," another friend remarked.
And her sister-in-law, Callie, now thinks she knows where Paige got the idea to become an escort in the first place. Many years earlier, Callie had asked Paige how she was able to afford her first home on a dance teacher's salary. "I flat out asked her if she was doing something other than teaching dance. And she had told me that she had been stripping," Callie says.
Before becoming a mother, Paige had worked as a stripper at a place called the Mile High Saloon. "In Denver, when she was 21 years old," Callie says. "She said she had been making $400,000 a year doing it. And that, you know, she didn't need to do it anymore."
But apparently, she later did.
"I wish I had been given the opportunity to be involved and perhaps be able to sort it out," Frank says. "I would have counseled her that that strikes me as dangerous. It doesn't sound totally moral."
Paige's family knew this new information could help investigators figure out who was responsible for Paige's disappearance. But they also knew it would lead to answers that would be painful to learn.

See all 31 CommentsMy cousin's disappearance had a lot of questions surrounding it. Most of those questions still exist, & may never be known. We've had to come to this 'new normal' that has alterd all of our lives for the last 26 years. Family members who took part in the search for her have passed away. New people in our lives have this as a daily element of our lives, no matter what we do.
I know that someone who hasn't been through it could understand the profound impact it has on the lives of their loved ones, if they choose to leave. Knowing her, I doubt that she would have chosen to leave, even if she could have known the pain it would cause. Whatever is going on in someone's life, they don't deserve this.

I would say all the ingredients are there except the client list. but, IMO, A-moral dad likely took care of that when they searched the computers instead of the police.
They said on T.V. that along a highway they found her checkbook and some other items.
Did she carry a purse? Was that found? It would seem to me that whoever tossed out those items must have had her purse? Also it would seem that they had probabley already disposed of her body.Has the search team backtracked from those items found along that side of the highway, or sideroads? I don't think it would be a very far distance after getting rid of her body, to dispose of that incriminating evidence. I pray for the family and hope they find there daughter soon. Remember God loves her and she is with him, or lets pray she is still alive. I live in San Diego and there was just a 14 year old girl abducted in Escondido walking to school Amber Duboius. It seems like that's all that's been happening the past few months with the 3 babies in Florida. I was watching America's Most Wanted tonight also, flipping back and forth between shows. I hope I get a response if the search team did do what my question was.
I don''t know whether she was ashamed of what she was doing; given that she defied her mother when she was a young adult and danced at a strip club I would suggest she was a little weak on ethics and a bit strong on greed.
There are a million foreclosed homes in this country... but I don''t see a million new ''escorts'' on the streets. I suggest there is an honorable way to struggle with life''s challenges, and a dishonorable way. Her choice was clear and unfortunate.
I''ve read where the majority of women who join the *** trade were sexually exploited; I do wonder. Incest? Rape?
And did she get regularly tested? Did a *** game a role play go horribly wrong? Did a john catch a STD and get upset? Will we ever find out?
Must be that she was "escorting" tourists perhaps? Perhaps you are trying to encourage others to become "escorts" since (in your eyes anyway) they aren''t prostitutes?
I think the lesson here is if you get into what many consider the prostitution business, the real ugliness is what happens when the truth comes out. While all might be sunny and bright in your imaginary world, the fact of the matter is she chose this risk and now her children have no mother. Pretty, that isn''t.

I can understand her parents auctioning off what was in that house. Didn''t they have to keep up the payments after the daughter disappeared? $6,000 rent is pretty steep. That''s $72,000 a year plus other bills. No wonder she went into the Escort Service. Fast & Easy Money.
I don''t condemn this woman for anything. She''s a single mother who had to make ends meet. It''s not easy to live a lavish life-style and then it suddenly disappears. Most people don''t know how to quit the fancy trips, nice cars and social position. Unfortunately, this woman made a wrong choice which may have cost her own life.
I am assuming that her ex, the father of the children is working. And...did he pay child support?
