Pelosi: "We Have A Nominee"

By Daniel W. Reilly

(The Politico)  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) acknowledged Wednesday that the Democratic primary race has effectively ended, saying "we have a nominee," even though Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) has yet to formally drop out of the race.

Here is Pelosi's full statement:

"Well what I think is the joy I have that over 40 million Democrats participated in the electoral process and nominating process. It’s pretty exciting. A great expansion of the participation from young people, women, minorities, people in minority communities, and now we have a nominee and that’s pretty exciting. The campaign of Senator Clinton is one that will go down in the history books as a great one for our country. It’s breaking what I call the marble ceiling, they call it the glass ceiling, glass is easier compared to marble. I couldn’t be prouder of her eloquent knowledge, her judgment, the stamina it took to have this campaign and so I salute her and all of her supporters."
