Byrd Hospitalized With Fever
Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) was hospitalized Monday night after falling ill with a fever.
Byrd voted in the Senate chamber around 5:30pm, but staffers told the Crypt that the 90-year-old senator appeared more lethargic than usual and that he went home soon after the vote.
His care taker also noticed that Byrd appeared unwell and when he showed a fever, called doctor who had the senator put in the hospital overnight for observation.
The president pro tempore of the Senate, Byrd has been hospitalized twice in recent months, once for tests after a reaction to antibiotics and another time after a fall at his home.
