(CBS)  It's been four years since the HBO show "Sex and the City" ended, but its legions of fans still talk about it like it was yesterday.

Now, at long last, the much-anticipated "Sex and the City" movie hits theaters this weekend.

And, all week, the stars will be hitting The Early Show.

On Wednesday, Kim Cattrall stopped by.

She plays the sensual, insatiable Samantha Jones.

Being back together with "the girls," she told co-anchor Julie Chen, was "overwhelming. ... It was such an exciting moment, the four of us were back," for a New York bus tour touting the film.

And, even though the movie doesn't even hit theaters nationwide until Friday, Cattrall doesn't rule out a sequel.

"I have a sneaky suspicion," she told Chen, "if the fans turn out and the movie does well, that we will be back, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I had a blast!"

In the movie, Samantha moves to Malibu, Calif."

."This is an incredible thing," Cattrall says, "that Samantha Jones would move out of New York, give up her apartment and her business. But the last time we saw her, she was battling breast cancer and she was in remission. She was in a relationship with a wonderful younger man who was very supportive. When her hair was falling out, he was shaving his scalp. And she figures, his career is in Hollywood. So she's going to go out there and stand by him like he stood by her. So, you see her sort of like a fish out of water. And she's still trying to be monogamous. Samantha/monogamy -- not always working! But that makes for a lot of funny, comedic moments."

The show, Cattrall says, "was so important to so many women because it was about girlfriends as family. And you see Samantha, you know, really missing that really important part of her life. Her friends. Her family. So she just -- she can't stay away," and returns frequently to New York.

Cattrall also talked about her real-life love life -- a relationship with a man more than 20 years younger.
