Statue of Liberty? Empire State Building? No, this tour stops at Carrie Bradshaw's stoop.

(CBS)  The long-awaited "Sex and the City" movie had excited fans abuzz at its United States premiere at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall Wednesday night.

One told CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller, "It was absolutely worth (the four-year wait since the end of the television series). I laughed. I cried. ... They did an amazing job!"

But will it be enough to overtake the already mega-grossing "Indiana Jones" sequel -- the first such film in 19 years -- "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"? It ran away with the box office crown when it hit theaters Memorial Day weekend.

"I think our fans are pretty determined. So we'll see what happens," Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha Jones in "Sex," told Miller.

"Sex" goes into mass distribution this weekend.

Hundreds of excited fans -- mostly females -- lined up outside Radio City to try to get a glimpse of the "Sex" stars at the big event.

"I've been celebrating this since 6:30 this morning," one fan remarked to Miller.

Radio City was, as Miller put it, "ablaze -- on pink carpet, no less!"

The movie, Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) told reporters, is "just kind of a more grand experience."

.Chris North, who plays Mr. Big, agreed, saying simply, "Bigger and better, baby!"

Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) observed, "It's wonderful. It's epic!"

And Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) said, "I think it has everything the show had, but more. Because we were on the big-screen. Because we really wanted to condense all of the emotion and all of the fashion and all of the visuals into the movie. It's a lot."

But few details about the plot emerged.

"Will Carrie be married at the end?" Miller asked Parker.

"Are you mad?" Parker chuckled. "I know you're a journalist, but I'm not answering that."

Still, fans were clear on what they crave.

"Big and Carrie to get married," said one.

"We want a wedding!" implored another.

How pathetic that so many are caught up with this type of nonsense. A real telling of the minds and character of those that are incapable of placing value on issues of substance and meaning. It''s probably because they''re incapable and lack any real character.

I''m not hostile and you shouldn''t be so presumptive and misconstrue my opinion, unless of course, the truth has hit a nerve or two. Popular culture is what has diminished the intellectual and moral fiber of our culture. This type of stuff is silly and a big waste of time. If people want a diversion from their miserable lives, then perhaps they should just consider doing some community service to help others less fortunate out and really make a difference in someone else''s life, including their own.

Movies are fun. Sometimes we that do think and have personality and character just need a break from all the devastation in the world. Movies are a nice break. Don''t be so judgmental. It''s okay if you aren''t interested, I won''t judge you, but don''t judge me.

Only women & gay men want to see "Dirty 3-letter word and the City." And straight men who are hoping to get some late if they don''t squawk when their date suggests seeing it.

I have no desire whatsover to see "Indiana Jones." Why do we have to GRIND every nice, enjoyable thing into the ground with sequels? Beat it to death. Squeeze all the life out of it.
