The wedding was just ending Saturday when the suspect approached with a 9 mm pistol and opened fire, Pope County sheriff's Lt. Aaron DuVall said. No one else was hurt.
CBS affiliate KTHV in Little Rock spoke with the bride's nephew and reports the shooting was instigated by an argument after a fight between the dog of the newly married couple and that of the suspect.
About 50 people, including children, had attended the ceremony along Piney Creek north of Dover at a spot Lieutenant DuVall said was popular for picnicking and swimming. Dover is 64 miles northwest of Little Rock.
The suspect "was not associated with the wedding at all," DuVall said. "No one knew him."
Police arrested Patrick Paul Duvall, 29, after he was chased into a Russellville restaurant parking lot, said the sheriff's lieutenant, who is not related to the suspect.
DuVall declined to identify the four people who were injured, but he said the bride, groom and a third victim remained in the hospital Sunday. One victim was treated and released.
Without the victims' names, it wasn't possible to get information from hospitals on the patients' conditions.
Deputies say Duvall will remain in the Pope County jail at least until a bond hearing Wednesday morning. Jailers said an attorney had visited Duvall, but they declined to release the attorney's name.
The sheriff's lieutenant said Duvall faces four felony counts of first-degree battery and a felony charge of vehicle theft after the shooting.
A telephone number listed in Duvall's name in Russellville could not be found Sunday night.

- I am disappointed to read that a handgun was involved. Was really hoping this was a return to the shotgun wedding.

- You can have religion every where and anywhere, in your own heart and mind. You don''t need flags, murals, crosses or any other symbolic ***. Religion is alive and well in schools. we pray right before every test and ball game. I pray every time I cross the street. You sickos that need constant visual and audible reminders of your 10 commandments should be locked up.

That is a point i do agree with you on . The corruption in this country is eating away at out values and our moral structure. In your case it was probably more apparent a lot longer than it was to white Americans. - Reply to this comment

I hate to break your bubble but you are wrong, at least in foreign countries the crosses remain. I receently went to a cememtery in Thailand and the crooses are still standing inspite of the aclu and this is a national cemetery for American war dead. - Reply to this comment
- I think after they banded it it looks like everything started falling apart. The civil liberites union says we cannot have crosses on federal land. We have thousands in military cemeteries on federal land and i would fight anyone who tried to remove them.I don''''t consider them religious as much as i do as showing respect for the fallen soldiers who lie there. I doubt seriously that anyone would disturb the graves of veterans, and I would join you in the fight if they did.
However, I do think that the drop in civility, and the rise of hostility, corruption and criminality was more a matter of coincidental timing.
This was right after Nixon destroyed the credibility of the office of president, and the protest of the Vietnam war exposed widespread corruption of the military-industrial complex, if our leaders are liars and thieves, why shouldn''t we be, and if we can steal enough to pay the fines and still be rich, why shouldn''t we? (not my position, mind you, just an observation.)
The phrase "its a dog eat dog world" was no longer a complaint, it became the new accepted way of life, the phrase "jungle law" went from being a description of non-civilization, to the description of how "civilized" life was supposed to be.
Just serendipitous circumstances made it seem like we lost something, but also I most say that growing up "Black", I, and everyone else I knew had seen the exposed entrails of the beast long before the rest of America were aware. - Reply to this comment
- Dear
It was taken out of the schools the year I was born.
It is the parents like ye that do the right thing. It is sad the shape this nation is in. I said where the hell is Mum/Dad as it needs to change. I have seen little children boss their parents and I am appalled. What we have is parents give in to them. I was not raised in the church. If I SASSED my elders growing up it stopped. What will that little smart asre do as he/she gets older. I have seen well mannered little people and I am plaesed. My hugs me in fears some asre may kill me..lovely America. I THINK IT IS WORSE NOW. My vet Dad taught me values. THE FOSTER HOMES DID NOT They warehouse for money. A good parent does the right thing. - Reply to this comment

The difference is your an intelligent individual who can reason thse things thru. The point i was trying to make is i think we had people with better character when we were allowed to have religion in the schools. I think after they banded it it looks like everything started falling apart. The civil liberites union says we cannot have crosses on federal land. We have thousands in military cemeteries on federal land and i would fight anyone who tried to remove them.I don''t consider them religious as much as i do as showing respect for the fallen soldiers who lie there. I totally respect your beliefs as an athiest and would fight for our right to have these beliefs. - Reply to this comment
