Sheriff's and county fire officials say an Island Express private tour helicopter went down Saturday morning on Santa Catalina Island's west end.
CBS Station KCBS reports that the copter crashed near the Banning House Lodge at Two Harbors.
A fire dispatcher says it sparked a small fire that was quickly doused.
Weather at the time was rainy and visibility appeared to be poor. Island Express declined comment on the crash.
County firefighters dispatched three helicopters to retrieve the victims, at least two of whom are in critical condition, according to KCBS.
