Tenn. GOP Sen. Wants Obama Ad Pulled

Bob Corker Calls On State Party To Stop Playing Online Video Targeting Michelle Obama

(AP)  Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., has asked the Tennessee GOP to pull its Michelle Obama online video that her Democratic presidential candidate husband criticized.

The video features replays of Michelle Obama saying that "for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country."

Sen. Barack Obama criticized the Tennessee GOP as "low class" for posting the video. Michelle Obama has said her comments were misconstrued.

Tennessee Republican Party spokesman Bill Hobbs declined comment when contacted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Corker's chief of staff, Todd Womack, said in a statement that their office has "strongly encouraged the national party and state parties to absolutely refrain from getting involved in negative personal campaigning."

Sen. Lamar Alexander's spokesman, Lee Pitts, was also critical of the ad. When asked he said, there are probably better ways the party to communicate its pride in America.

Michelle Obama%u2019s actual quote:

%u201C"for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country."%u201D

I find this statement, by Michelle Obama, to be entirely appropriate and completely understandable.

Africa-Americans were originally brought here as slaves.

The United States has come a long way since it%u2019s founding.

We have made many changes, some good, some not so good.

When slavery was abolished African-Americans had tremendous reason to be proud (although that alone could not erase the memories of their enslavement).

When they were given the right to vote, they again had a reason to be proud.

When integration laws were passed allowing them to ride in the front of a bus or eat in the front of public restaurants or simply use the same public toilets as whites, they had reason to be proud.

Now, in 2008, after more than 2 centuries, the fact that a black man is actually leading in the nomination for president by a major political party dwarfs those gains (in a political sense) and this is the ONLY one of those events that has happened in Michelle%u2019s adult lifetime.

If Americans have overcome past prejudices enough to accomplish this, then I think ALL Americans should be REALLY proud of their country, and for many, perhaps for the first time.

thgdrivel - that''s always your type''s last line of defense - blame the Democratic Congress for Bushit''s vetoes. And for the absolute callous disregard for America that his GOP cronies have shown in Congress by opposing the help we all need the most.

It''s like Tom Delay''s espoused policy - "Conservatism for the sake of conservatism above all else, and no apologies for it". What anti-American utter drivel!

thgdrive, we will NEVER stop - and it''s not whining, it''s called dissent, a cornerstone of our democracy between 1789 and the Bushit/Supremes coup d''etat in 2000.

That never should have happened in America. Who wants a president that won''t INSIST on a recount, instead of fighting it tooth and nail simply to win at any cost?

And look at what all else we have lost as a result.

I have to laugh at you Dimwitocrats. In 2006 when gas was $2.10 a gallon Nancy Pelosi told you all how good things would be once she and her cronies controlled Congress after the midterm elections. Well you put them in charge and they sure fixed things. Right??? Gas is $3.82 and no end in sight not even two years later.

Waddle right up to the brainwash trough and swill down some more, you Dimwits deserve it!! LMAO.

quick lilvinnyb, SPIT out the hook line and sinker that you swallowed! It''s coated with petro- AND neo-slime and there isn''t a more toxic combination on Earth!

The current oil monopoly is enjoying the largest transference of wealth from the many to the few that has ever occurred. It will bankrupt virtually every economy on this planet if left unchecked.

It was planned by, caused by, and is benefitting your Bushit heroes and their clique of Texan and Saudi oil rich. Gee I wonder why they wouldn''t let us know even WHAT the energy policy actually is, muich less who planned it!

You have to admit it was very effective for its true purpose....the final stroke to completely empower the oil cartels as the new actual world leaders.

How disgusting that ANYONE can back this bunch!

Stop your whining, damm it''s almost eight years now. Booo, hoooo, hooo.

Next time put your Dimwitocrat candidate over the top instead of in the loser column.

Oh, and remember!!!?? It was his idea to take it to the courts in the first place. Got bit in the Aiss didn''t he?

WHY DONT YOU BLAME THE 10 DOLLAR MILK ON THE LIBERALS WHO TOLD US TO USE MORE ETHANOL. THE CORN FEED USED TO FEED THE COWS COSTS MUCH MORE NOW.

AGAIN, YOU LIBERALS WITH YOUR KNEE-JERK REACTIONS TO EVERY THING NEVER SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES.

NEXT, YOU WILL TAX THE OIL COMPANIES AND WHEN THEY STOP INVESTING IN THER CAPACITY TO BRING US MORE OIL, THEN YOU WILL WONDER WHY PRICES ARE EVEN HIGHER.

FRIGGIN CLOWNS!!!

Next up:

5 dollar then 6 dollar then TEN Dollar GAS - compliments of "our friends" the Saudi OPEC/Bin Laden and WAR PROFITEER/Bush CARTEL.

Followed by Ten Dollar gallons of Milk - since the Bush APOLOGISTS have ALWAYS pointed out that MILK was Cheaper.

Followed by the IRONIC collapse of MORE NEGLECTED infrastructure - like the BRIDGE that collapsed in the city the NEOCONS will be holding Their Convention in.

Which the NEOCONS will use to justify selling or gutting the rest of our roads, water systems, ports, parks, forests, lakes, aquifers, historical sites.....

It''s gonna be a GREAT year...for a Depression.

To minnick8:

I''m not sure Obama or either of the other 2 candidates left standing is "it". But they are what we have to go forward with and simply must be an improvement over the current mob of thugs and dimwits.

I''m happy to finally have a choice between possibly good candidates rather than definitely shaky (Gore or Kerry) and so incredibly much worse (Bush).

Oh wait, that''s right, we didn''t have a choice for Gore. The Supremes stole that one right away from us...

Nobama sez--criticize me but leave my wife alone. Sorry Nobama, she put herself on the world stage by being interviewed/campaigning for you. There is an old saying.

"If you can''t take the heat stay out of the kitchen".

Tell Michelle to stay home and shut up or face the consequences.

Shame on any of you taking this comment out of context. I am ashamed to be an American where illegal spying, torture and sensless war killing the poor''s children to meke the rich wealthy is the code of the day. I don''t blame her for need feeling proud. You''ve got to be nuts to be proud of corruption and torture.

What Michelle Obama truly said, I believe everyone understands. It is a truth and it''s nothing wrong in what she said. But there are those who are taking what she said out of context on purpose. Additionally, it is the thing to do for Barack Obama to speak out on his wife''s behalf but the trigger words being used and attributed to his proper action are now trying to be spun as over the top. Barack Obama presidential candidate or not has the right to say what is happening with his input of whether he agrees, disagrees, likes or dislikes it. Thank you very much.

Hey Berniew4,

The liberals did pull together with the rest of America to fight the true war on terror - in Afghanistan, against those who provoked us.

But thinking people of every nation know for sure that the illegal Iraq invasion (complete with Bush-sanctioned torture) is only related to the war on terror by the number of new terrorists that it has drawn to our enemies'' cause.

Make no mistake, we have located the terrorists, and they are US!

Hopefully Barack and/or Hillary and a heavily Democratic Congress will be able to make some sense out of the dog''s dinner that will be handed over to them.

Even John McCain would be a great improvement over these thugs but he would have to feed his GOP masters too much of what they insist on to be able to do much good. the rich must get much richer and the poor much poorer or they just won''t be satisfied.

We need a clean and resounding break from the slime that has pervaded our once great nation since the "Contract ON America" was taken out....

We ALL look like monkeys, because we ARE. The difference is, monkeys learn from their mistakes, but humans make the same mistakes over, and over, and over again. We''ve just had nearly 8 years of disasterous Republican government, yet some still plan to vote Republican. Proof positive.

Are you people all so blind that you cannot see the difference between criticizing Michelle for something she said puiblicly while campaigning and just criticizing Cindy Mc Cain? If not, open your eyes & ears.

"Barack is one of the smartest people you will ever encounter who will deign to enter this messy thing called politics".
-Michelle Obama

The definition of deign is;

condescend: do something that one considers to be below ons dignity
