Tenn. GOP Sen. Wants Obama Ad Pulled

Bob Corker Calls On State Party To Stop Playing Online Video Targeting Michelle Obama

(AP)  Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., has asked the Tennessee GOP to pull its Michelle Obama online video that her Democratic presidential candidate husband criticized.

The video features replays of Michelle Obama saying that "for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country."

Sen. Barack Obama criticized the Tennessee GOP as "low class" for posting the video. Michelle Obama has said her comments were misconstrued.

Tennessee Republican Party spokesman Bill Hobbs declined comment when contacted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Corker's chief of staff, Todd Womack, said in a statement that their office has "strongly encouraged the national party and state parties to absolutely refrain from getting involved in negative personal campaigning."

Sen. Lamar Alexander's spokesman, Lee Pitts, was also critical of the ad. When asked he said, there are probably better ways the party to communicate its pride in America.

They SHOULD NOT pull the ad. All spouses of all candidates should be fair game! If a spouse has views or philosophies that could affect the person who may be president (who could have their fingers ont he nuclear buttons one day...)--then surely it is only fair for the American voting public to scrutinize them. Michelle Obama is fair game! So is Former President Clinton, and Cindy McCain. This is the world of politics and all of the candidates know that they are going to be scrutinized and so are their families and acquantances. It is to be expected and is fair game so the American public really knows who they are electing--not just fluff or words. We want to know who these candidates really are!

PS--Isn''t she a hospital adminstrator? Perhaps we need to look at that too as Sen. Obama is campaining on wanting health care "for some" but NOT ALL like SEn. Clinton. Perhaps that is a potential conflict of interst. PErhaps the media needs to scrutinize this??

Personally, if a spouse makes a political statement, I think it''s fair to examine, question, and comment on it. But---

To launch negative TV ads against a candidate''s spouse---as if she WERE the candidate---is beneath contempt! It''s totally GUTLESS and COWARDLY!

But, I guess that''s what you''d expect from Tennessee RepubliCONS! No honor, pride, ethics, or morality!

Nice try but we all know who was pushing for that card to be played.

Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor''''s endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."

Don''t you see, Bill - It''s not fair, I''m the Queen Bee & It''s suppose to be all about me. I''m just warming up. Show me more of your money. I''m in it to win it. I flatly dare you to support him. I don''t get mad I get even. Just so you know The feminists are all behind me and we will stop at nothing to further divide the Democratic Party just to keep Obama from winning the presidential election. So Sad, but what did we expect.

Richardson, who served in President Clinton''s cabinet, disagreed.

The reason he wants the ad pulled has nothing to do with the GOP suddenly growing some decency, it''s because other similar ads run in Mississippi, lost them the election by backfiring. Their Rovian, Bush-it Attack tactics no longer work in America, and Hitlery''s similar tactics to stay in the race by garnering the redneck, hillbilly and KKKlan vote won''t play in larger America either.
It is hilaaaaaarious watching them and the Clintons running in circles to nowhere though.....LMMFAO....

Clutching at straws! This is what you do when you are on the wrong side of every issue and terrified of getting swamped in the election. Typical Republican tactics. Attack, distort, manipulate, spin, lie - anything to win - except this time it wont work. Obama wil win by a landslide!

IF WIVES are FAIR GAME then McCain''s TWO WIVES might come under scrutiny.
People who live in GLASS HOUSES....
Divorce is just POLYGAMY made LEGAL.

What''s WITH every OTHER SOURCE of McCain''s FINANCING having to REPORT what they''re doing but Cindy McCain can tell America to go take a flying leap because a CONTRACT says SHE''S "privileged" and BETTER than EVERYBODY ELSE.

Your Grandmother can be STRIPPED SEARCHED in a PUBLIC AIRPORT, YOUR EVERY MOVE CAN BE monitored by cameras, and your EVERY Communication can be secretly monitored WITHOUT oversight now but the McCains ALONE get PRIVACY and all the LOBBYISTS have to do is PAY HER to LAUNDER their DIRTY money because She''s financially "OFF-limits".

The Hillerites are like a bunch of menopausal, screeching witch''s. It''s so sad. They''d rather see their country destroyed by McSame than swallow their false pride and vote for the winner of the primaries. I''ll vote for the shrew if she wins because it''s that important. To put party or personality over you country at this point in our history is insanity... or as I''ve gathered from this article, estrogen poisoning. My wife''s a vehement Hillary supporter who knows the score and will vote Democrat in November no matter who ends up running... she won''t like it, but she''ll do it. If you love your country and have seen enough American neocon fascism to last a lifetime, you''ll do the rightious thing and vote for the candidate that survives this process. Or... sell out your country and vote for Bush''s third term... the choices are clear and very defined. A hundred more years of war, or a chance to bring sanity back to our government. BTW... I''m (rather, I was) a lifelong Republican until Bush.

The results are fabulous for the Democratic Party.

The UNSPOKEN reality is most of those SUPPOSED "crossover voters" are probably Rush Limbaugh Operation Chaos "true believers" that HAD NO INTENTION of voting Democratic in November anyway but LOVE messing with the Democratic Primary since the NEOCON Party LEADERS have already TOLD THEM HOW TO THINK.
The KKKARL ROVE PUPPET-MASTERS ALWAYS DECIDE FOR THEM.

The AWKWARD part is the Clinton campaign USING KKKARL ROVE''s Statistical maps.

Although I''ve gotta admit it WAS an interesting gamble to KEEP ALL MEDIA ATTENTION on the DEMOCRATS so much so that I''m hearing things like "McCain, Who''s HE?"

Only those declaring themselves republican should vote in republican primaries exclusively.

Only those declaring themselves democrat should vote in democratic primaries exclusively.

Those who are "independent" should only vote in the general election.

Transgression from the above is a violation of ethics and integrity and a threat to an honest transparent democratic society.

First they began lobbying to give rights to the non-human corporate entities calling for an unregulated "free market".

Then they attacked the government calling it too big. Arguing the public sector was inefficient and rewarded the lazy, the underclass.

Later they began quietly creating a large government while framing the term "privatization" in the context of freedom from government oppression.

Soon the government was recognized as one that was privatized and it was run by a group of the largest shareholders.

Indeed the very wealthiest were free of the concerns of the public and free to reign as they saw fit in their best interests.

Bill Clinton in 2004:
"Now one of Clinton''s Laws of Politics is this: If one candidate''s trying to scare you and the other one''s trying to get you to think; if one candidate''s appealing to your fears and the other one''s appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope. That''s the best."

Sounds like Sen. Obama''s campaign...the Hope of our Nation and he wants the message to stay positive. Obviously his supporters are in agreement. Negative ads are finally being recognized for what they are...a poor attempt to to drag candidates down instead of lifting the nation up.

"We the People" will no longer be directed by the lowest common denominator. These attack ads show us ALL the worst in ourselves.

I have made a pledge that I will never again be led by negative advertising. Forever onward, I will look more carefully at the victims OPPONENT...thinking, ''What is so bad about this candidate that people on his side feel they have to draw attention away him?'' and ''What is so wrong with his policy positions that his campaign can''t stand on it''s own merits?''

Whenever anyone stumps for a candidate, whether they are Republican, Democrat or whatever, husband, wife or any relation, or friend, they are fair game. I haven''t seen the add but if it''s just a video of what she actually said, then it is truthful, if she didn''t mean it, she should not have said it, and as best I remember she was quite sincere about what she said. After it came out they tried to say it was not what she meant to say. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then its a duck. Bill catches the dickens for what he says, why shouldn''t Michelle ?

Put a Cork in it Corker! She opened her mouth. She was running around campaigning and she said the words. Now she has to live with words she cannot take back. Barack sent his wife out to campaign for him. Whatever she says during a campaign stop is definately fair game. He and everyone else that uses their family to campaign for them better get used to it.

ARE the Republicans trying to help out Obama. The ad stays. Get used to it! It is all and fair in politics. Let''s hope it gets worse and they are made out to be the anti American Bigots they truly are. Ever since the Rev Wright revelation and her speech about finally being proud to be American, I will never support or vote for Obama, I almost did! I am GOP, and almost was misguided.

If you can''t stand the fire get out of the race. Including the American race of we the people!! Go back to Africa where you both belong and take Rev Wrong and Jesse Jackson as well as Sharpton with you.

On April 1, 2008, the President of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Gerry McEntee said that he knows Hillary Clinton has been against NAFTA from the start, saying the former First Lady called him back in the ''''''''90s to tell him %u201Cwe lost.%u201D %u201CI know that she spoke against it, she opposed it,%u201D McEntee said about NAFTA. %u201CMaybe she does not even remember this. The day that they got the votes, Hillary Clinton called me and I was in California at a union meeting. She said, and this really sums it up, she said We lost. We lost, the votes were there for NAFTA.%u2019 So anybody who tries to hang it around her neck, is hanging it around the wrong neck.%u201D

Gerry McIntee, as President of (AFSCME) is an impeccable source. To maintain his credibility, Senator Obama should correct his error on this issue and sincerely apologize to Senator Clinton for telling the world she always supported NAFTA when she opposed it before it became a law we all had to deal with. Senator Obama should correct all the misstatements he has made on this subject in a way that reaches all the people he talked to about this subject. Failing to correct what he said is the same as lying.

Followed by Ten Dollar gallons of Milk - since the Bush APOLOGISTS have ALWAYS pointed out that MILK was Cheaper.

Followed by the IRONIC collapse of MORE NEGLECTED infrastructure - like the BRIDGE that collapsed in the city the NEOCONS will be holding Their Convention in.

Which the NEOCONS will use to justify selling or gutting the rest of our roads, water systems, ports, parks, forests, lakes, aquifers, historical sites.....

In other words: anyone who cares at all about the topic of this article, what Mrs. Obama might or might not have said, is helping to further the downslide of the USA. wake up vote for change.

what does Mrs. Obama''s comment have to do with anything? does it help us come up with solutions to the many serious problems are country faces? should we continue to be "proud of our country" and yet do nothing to fix the problems?
I agree with Mrs. Obama''s comment. Its been a long time since I''ve been "really proud" of my country. Someone tell me what we have to be proud of? Anyone?... Are we proud of the Iraq War? Are we proud of the way veterans are treated? Are we proud of our economy? Are we proud of the corruption and paralysis in washington? Are we proud of the jobs been shipped overseas and the destruction of the middle-class? Are we proud of the 37 million people living in poverty in our country? Are we proud of the 20 million American children that don''t get enought to eat? Someone tell me, Just what are we proud of?

Are we proud of still after all this time being addicted to oil? Are we proud of our educational system? Are we proud of blackwater, ENRON, haliburton, cheney''s secret energy meetings with the energy companies? Are we proud of the outing of a CIA operative (a true hero - Valerie Plame)? Are we proud that bush has given up golf for the troops?...

In order to be proud of something, you have to have achieved something worthy of being proud of... and being "proud" doesn''t mean that you say, "Well, at least we aren''t as bad as other countries, and if you don''t like it, move there..." This isn''t pride, its arrogance.

I am proud of my country, but extremely ashamed of its government.

All of us, at one time or another, have said things which, if available for instant replay, would make us look either racial, bigoted, unpatriotic, anti-male, anti-female, uneducated, anti-social, stupid, or any combination of these.

Things can and often are also taken out of context in order to make someone look bad, although I''m sure politicians never do that.

To imply that any of the candidates or their wives who have been involved in this presidential contest are somehow unpatriotic is beyond stupidity, and the majority of the American people see through it for what it is. Slimy politics.

What I said was exactly right. Because even thought it was for 70yrs they did lose and like I said it is a cycle. Just like when the republicans won a little over ten years ago, they won everything and just like the Demss is this time they have it all. The problem is that now that the Dems will have the house, the senate and more than likely the white house, and that means if things go wrong then there will be no one to blame but themselves and that''s never good because it only shortens the time you have to control the govt. If the other party has at least one then you can blame them

Attacking the Candidates wife is low class and its shows how bankrupt the Republican party actually is. With wars in Afghanistan & Iraq, a foreign policy that has diminished our standing in the World from friends & foes alike, an economy in tailspin, etc. The Republican party cannot compete against Sen Obama on the merits of the issues challening America. This politics of division and fear mongering has worked in past elections, but not this time!
