Boehner: We Can Throw In The Towel Or We Can Come Together

(The Politico)  House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) delivered a rousing pep talk to his Republican colleagues on Thursday morning, outlining his long-awaited policy agenda two days after a dispiriting loss in a Mississippi special election.

"We have two options," said Boehner, according to a draft of his talking points obtained by Politico.

"We can throw in the towel. ... Or we can pull together and fight our way out of this hole."

Boehner also outlined his long-awaited policy agenda, hoping to retake the momentum into the fall.

He was expected to begin his remarks by reminding his conference that there are 172 days until Election Day and then urging them to stick together as the fall out from three straight special election losses continues.

"To change the game, we have to show Americans we're agents of change," he said. "Showing Americans we're agents of change requires an agenda, and it requires a message."
