(AP)  Islamic fighters said Tuesday that an overnight U.S. airstrike blasted a remote area of central Somalia hours after armed civilians met there, but the U.S. military denied the claim.

Two Islamic insurgents said they heard airplanes overnight and about 10 explosions in the Odam rural area, where armed civilians had met Monday. The fighters, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, said no one was hurt.

But a spokesman for the U.S. military's Central Command in Tampa, Florida, said there was no strike. "We had no activities there overnight," said Capt. Matt Hasson.

Last week, a U.S. airstrike killed the suspected leader of al Qaeda in Somalia and 24 others. Local elders said all but five of the dead were civilians.

9/11 is All the justification we need indeed... Too funny! We''ve lost more in Iraq.

The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he''s maybe in control of a cave. He''s on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we''re going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that''s what''s happening. He''s on the run, if he''s running at all. So we don''t know whether he''s in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don''t know...."
- Bush, in remarks in a Press Availablity with the Press Travel Pool,
The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on
official White House site

"I don''t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don''t care. It''s not that important. It''s not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

The CIA can do anything it wants anywhere it wants. It%u2019s the American way and has been a long time. This is just a distraction from Israel dragging us into WWIII with Iran. All you can do is pay your taxes and shut up.

Lefeaoux Are you French or Canadian or both?? If I thought someone would come, I''d give you my address. It could be just like the end of Scarface without the Cocaine or Columbians. Someone needs to teach our administration and a lot of bloggers 5th grade American history starting with our Constitution and the President''s oath to protect it. How would bombing my house accomplish this?

There is no justification for the US to even be there by Brianbwb

Yes, quite right. We have no reason to be there; let them go hungry, maybe they will all starve to death.

Your "brothers" were sent to where they were not wanted, doing what they had no right to be doing,

We went to Somalia initally to deliver food to the starving. They fought us off; so we left. How about that? They are still hungry? I do sincerely hope that we don''t try to force feed them again.

Pay no attention to the remains of the terrorist training camp in Somalia. You heard no explosions and no one was killed in the accident during live practice making IED''''s and suicide vests.

There is no justification for the US to even be there, if US planes get shot down in airspace that we have not formally declared war on, it is 100% the fault of the commanders of the US military. If the locals are lying, our unwanted and illegal presence there gives them the opportunity to do so, if we weren''t there, they would have no chance to lie.

To "swwils", Your "brothers" were sent to where they were not wanted, doing what they had no right to be doing, (Nuremburg established "following orders" as no justification for war crimes) and so far as their being drug through the streets, it is a safe bet that you would do the same, if not worse, to someone you caught bombing your neighborhood, so cut the fake moral outrage.

Can someone give me a quick count of how many countries our government is killing people in?
It is obvious it''''s the wrong countries but really I lost track and am Just looking for the offical number not the unofficial one. Is anyone keeping track? You get extra points if you can name them all! P.S. if the Military denies it, then it was the CIA...

If you''''re dropping 21st century technology on them, you are bombing them into the Future!

So they are making progress! Good, after a couple hundred more bombs they will be advanced enough to join the rest of the world. Since we are going the other way, we can only wave to them as they pass by.
