Cannon Kin: Mariah And Nick Are Married
(CBS)
A relative of Nick Cannon confirmed to E! News that the actor married singer Mariah Carey this week.
"Yes, we know. He called us and told us all about it. ... If that is what he wants then we are happy for him," Linda Cannon said. "I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him.
On Thursday, a source close to Cannon confirmed to Latina.com that the couple were wed in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony in the Bahamas the day before.
2 To date, the couple haven't announced if they're married, engaged or even dating. But, a jewelry company has confirmed that the hefty diamond ring the diva's been wearing on her left ring finger was a gift from Cannon.
Rumors that Cannon had given the same ring to a previous fianceé are untrue, a company spokeswoman told The ShowBuzz.com.
"It's a different carat weight, and a different color diamond," Marissa Drew said. "It was made specifically for Mariah."
Carey, 38, was married to music mogul Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998. Cannon, 27, was engaged to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks for a few months in 2007.
Cannon worked closely with Jacob Arabo of Jacob & Co. to create the one-of-a-kind ring, the company said in a statement.
The ring is crafted from platinum and features a square emerald cut fancy light pink diamond as the center stone surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds and two half moon diamonds on each side. The center stone alone weighs 10 carats, and the total carat weight of the ring is 17 carats. It's valued at $2.5 million.

A publicist for Carey has not yet responded to TheShowBuzz.com's request for comment.
