Dinosaur Dung Worth Big Bucks At Auction
Fossilized Feces From Jurassic Era Fetches Nearly $1,000

Two specimens of Coprolite, or fossilized dinosaur dung, are among the geological artifacts offered at auction by Bonhams in New York on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. (AP Photo/Bonhams Auction House)
The prehistoric deposit fetched $960 at Wednesday's auction, said a spokeswoman for Bonhams New York. Its pre-auction estimate was $450.
The fossilized dung is from the Jurassic era, the auction house said. It looks like a rock on the outside and a colorful mineral inside.
The buyer was Steve Tsengas of Fairport Harbor, Ohio. The 71-year-old owns OurPets, a company that sells products to treat dog and cat waste.
Tsengas bought the dung in hopes of motivating his employees and using it as a marketing tool by displaying it at the company's booth at trade shows, he said.
"Poop," he said, "is a big business in the pet industry."
The natural history auction also included an 18-carat gold box shaped like a crab by lapidary artist Manfred Wild. It sold for $168,000.
Meteorites from the collection of Ron Oriti sold for $95,313.

- Jimfinster - Good one. At least with Coprolite you don''t have to contend with the smell.

- Dragonwagon5 - As far as the dinosaur manure goes there hasn''t been much of that. The scientific name for it is Coprolite meaning "dung stone". I''m a little supprise at how much they paid for it.
Take a look at this site for example.

- Dragonwagon5 - I''m not sure why you paired Jesus Christ and Charles Darwin up given that Christ wasn''t even born until at least 4000 years after God supposedly create the earth. Begin both a Christan and Evolutionist myself my personal perspective is if both where a live to day they would have gotten along swimmingly and wounder what all the fuss was about.

- The list of signatories includes member scientists from National Academies of Science in Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, India (Hindustan), Nigeria, Poland, and the United States.

So Rick mentions that there is a signatory from the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S. on his creationist list (while omitting his name). Let me counter with an entire book put out by the National Academies Press (the publishing wing of the NAS). It''s titled ''Science, Evolution and Creationism'' and you can find out more about it here
http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11876
Here''s just a snippet from the book description, ''In the book Science, Evolution, and Creationism, a group of experts assembled by the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine explain the fundamental methods of science, document the overwhelming evidence in support of biological evolution, and evaluate the alternative perspectives offered by advocates of various kinds of creationism, including intelligent design.''
Did you notice the words ''overwhelming evidence''? This is from the National Academy of Sciences, not one guy from Oral Roberts Univ. or some obscure Bible College. Since you first cited the NAS Rick, maybe you can see if they have any publications out supporting creationism. - Reply to this comment
- As for Dr. Michael Egnor. sorry, but neurosurgery isn''''t a skill that necessarily equips one to address questions of evolution.

This is a valid point and worth exploring. Rick always goes on about the millions of Christians who believe in creationism as if this is some sort of evidence. So let''s do a little test.
1. You wake up one morning with chest pain. Would you consult a physician or a random bunch of Christians (and take the most common opinion)?
2. Your car doesn''t start. Would you consult a mechanic or a random bunch of Christians?
3. You have a question about the theory of relativity. Would you consult a theoretical physicist or a random bunch of Christians?
4. You have a question about an enzyme. Would you consult a biochemist or a random bunch of Christians?
5. You have a question about the theory of evolution. Would you consult an evolutionary biologist or a random bunch of Christians?
If the random group of Christians isn''t qualified to diagnose a heart ailment or teach you about biochemistry or physics, what makes you think these folks have any expertise to discuss the theory of evolution? - Reply to this comment
- Let''''s go ringside.
Posted by dragonwagon5 at 12:31 PM : May 03, 2008
Funny! Unfortunately if you''re coming ringside only now, you''re hoping to see a fight that ended in a knockout at least 50 years ago. There was tons of paleontological and physiological data already supporting evolution and then to this was added insights from physics (dating), geology (continental drift) and the discovery of the importance of DNA (allowing for genetic comparisons among organisms). So, a badly bruised Jaysus didn''t make it out of his corner and was counted out! LOL - Reply to this comment
- I reckon these 700+ scientists are now regarded as "pseudo-scientists" by the "real" scientists, right atheists/evolutionists?.
I wonder what excuse they''''ll come up with now? :hehe:
Where does the 700 number come from?
What are their specialties?
How many are biologists and qualified to comment on this subject?

Yes Discovery''s list is up to 700 out of tens of thousands in the world. Anyone spot a little intellectual dishonesty here?
But wait, there''s more! Of these scientists, how many would you guess are biologists? If you guessed "a majority," you''d be wrong. How many come from distinguished institutions? Not too awfully many.

- Libagenda seem to believe he is on some kind of self proclaimed religious crusade.
Like many in the Creationist community he equate evolution with atheism. These Creationist have a unfounded fear of the naturalistic explanation to life put forth by evolutionist. For them, a God that does not act supernaturally is equivalent to no god at all.
However there are numerous scientists who embrace both evolution and God. They believe not only that God created a universe in which evolution occurs naturally but that God works constantly in their and other people''s lives. However the same Creationist will often claim that these scientists are not true believers because science excludes GOD in there research.
What they don''t understand is Scientific theories do not include God because scientific theories must be tested. Testing requires holding constant some variables, and no one can %u201Ccontrol%u201D God; therefore, scientific explanations are restricted to the natural causes that are testable and not because of any anti-religion doctrine. - Reply to this comment

Then explain how countries like Sweden are much safer and orderly than the U.S., and they have MUCH lower rates of church attendance and belief in god? Hmmm? - Reply to this comment
- That''''s the real issue here, your attempt to silence anyone who disagrees with you, which again, is one of the MANY things this movie EXPELLED exposes in our culture. It also exposes bigoted frauds like actornaught.

What a load of BS! Did you see the recent news articles about soldiers in our military being harassed etc if they would not attend prayer meetings? This is not an isolated incident - it is PERVASIVE according to all accounts. And could a declared atheist ever win the presidential election? NO!
