CBS News RAW: Karl Rove, adviser to President Bush, put on an unusual display of rhythm, rap and beat-boxing during the Radio and Television Correspondents' dinner in Washington, D.C.

(CBS)  President George W. Bush poked fun at his potential successors, expressing surprise that none of them were in the audience at the White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner.

"Senator McCain's not here," Bush said of Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain. "He probably wanted to distance himself from me a little bit. You know, he's not alone. Jenna's moving out too."

Bush then referred to scandals that have dogged the campaigns of the two remaining Democratic candidates, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, in explaining their absence: "Hillary Clinton couldn't get in because of sniper fire and Senator Obama's at church."

The president admitted to being "a little wistful" Saturday night in his final appearance at the dinner, showing video clips of his routines from previous years. He finished by conducting the U.S. Marine Band in a medley of patriotic marches.

Bush was followed by Craig Ferguson, the host of CBS' "Late Late Show."

The Scottish-born Ferguson was expected to find middle ground between the tepid impersonations of last year's entertainer, Rich Little, and the merciless satire that Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert delivered in 2006.

The guest list for the dinner includes plenty of VIPs from outside Washington: Actors Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, John Cusack, Pamela Anderson and Claire Danes, singers Ashlee Simpson and the Jonas Brothers and author Salman Rushdie were among the invitees. Washington's power elite was still well represented, with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff in attendance.

The White House Correspondents Association was formed in 1914 as a liaison between the press and the president. Every president since Calvin Coolidge has attended the dinner.

Please oh please vote for Obama our blood shed at the world trade tower is insufficient to the call of Obamas pastor who carries the voice of America that Obama must win! We were D_A_M_N anyway according to Obamas pastor who we knew spoke with Obama often about what happened to us. They must of had a good laugh as one by one we jump out the window and hit the bottom with the sounding of bursting balloons. Oh they must of had a real good laugh for us whites. Hey go ahead now and vote OBAMA! He will laugh at you to! Will you laugh with him to in remembrance of us?

G.W. Bush is still our president. He came in with shock and awe, and wants to go out with a laugh.

Heard about Mukasey lately ? and his claim about wiretapping w/o warrant which amounts to say that
911 happened because of the incompetence of the Bush administration ?

Hillary may have more political experience than Obama, but old Hillary, with 35 years of experience and the advice of an ex President behind her, still voted to go to war in Iraq.

Like Obama, and like millions of ordinary people, she knew that the Iraq threat was a pack of lies but the problem was that she had her eye on the future Presidency; and I think she did not want to be painted as someone who is afraid of war just because she is a woman, this would have damaged her future presidential bid; so she chose the political expedient thing to do, lets go with the flow, lets not rock the boat.

So, to fulfill her personal ambitions, she now has the blood of 4000 US servicemen on her hands and she can never wash that away, no matter how she spins it.

Even to this day, she never uses her own judgment; she says whatever she thinks the audience wants to hear and changes her stance according to the state she is in. That%u2019s why polls show that voters consider her to be the most dishonest politician.

If Hillary is the nominee I would reluctantly vote for her; but I prefer to have a leader who has the integrity to stand by their beliefs rather than go with the flow, even if that means they have to stand alone in a crowded room.

Strange they don''t re-invite Colbert. Colbert 2006 was
a great show. Bush wasn''t really poking fun at anybody at the time.

I want Bush to choke on another pretzel while he swills down that booze and falls over. He is a spoiled frat brat and has been a loser all his life.

The only funny thing I see on the horizon is Bush going on trial for war crimes and being sentenced to hang. Now THAT would be hilarious to watch!
