Something Fishy In McCain "Family Recipes"
Washington Post: Bloggers Find Recipes Attributed To Cindy McCain On Web Site Were Plagiarized

Photo Essay John McCain Some call him a hero, some a maverick. Will Americans call him Mr. President?
Ahh, the home cooking of Sen. John McCain's wife, Cindy. You can almost smell her Ahi tuna with Napa cabbage slaw or her rosemary chicken with warm spinach salad as you peruse the recipes on her husband's campaign Web site.
Or you could have, until yesterday, when that part of the site was taken down after bloggers revealed that several of the "McCain Family Recipes" were, in fact, copied word for word from the Food Network.
Cindy McCain's tuna recipe was actually developed and submitted to the Food Network by cookbook author and former "Cooking Thin" host Kathleen Daelemans. The recipe for farfalle pasta with turkey sausage, peas and mushrooms was a "quick pasta classic" from the TV show "Everyday Italian." That old McCain standby -- rosemary chicken -- was a creation of TV chef Rachael Ray and was lifted, with a few changes, from the same Food Network site.
All three were listed on a McCain Web page titled "Cindy's Recipes."
"Apparently a Web intern added Rachael Ray to our policy team without her knowing it," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds deadpanned yesterday. "He was swiftly dealt with, and the page is down for revision."
But not quickly enough to avoid becoming the latest "gotcha" of the presidential campaign. McCain's advisers dismissed the gaffe as irrelevant; it was revealed on the same day that their candidate gave a wide-ranging speech about his economic philosophy.
But it was unearthed as McCain and his rivals -- Democratic Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton-- continued to argue about who is more in touch with working-class Americans, in the wake of Obama's comments about "bitter" small-town voters at a fundraiser last week.
Even if the recipes had been Cindy McCain's own, it's hard to see how the campaign thought it could win over Middle American voters with dishes such as crab scampi served over whole-wheat spaghetti.
A blogger for the Huffington Post, freelance writer David Weiner, first reported the plagiarism, mocking the incident as "Farfallegate? The Rosemary Chicken Dome Scandal?" He attributed the discovery to Lauren Handel, a New York lawyer who had been searching the Internet for recipes and found identical ones on the Food Network and McCain campaign sites.
"Personally, I'm not sure how an intern can be responsible for messing up the McCain 'family' recipes," Weiner wrote. "Did the intern lose Cindy's recipe box only to haphazardly try to replace them with Food Network recipes?"
Daelemans, who is developing a new cooking show for public television, said yesterday that she created her Ahi tuna recipe after living in Hawaii for five years. She said she ran to her cookbook to compare her recipe with McCain's when she heard the news.
"Am I offended?" asked Daelemans, a Democrat who said she voted for Clinton in the Michigan primary. "Absolutely not. I'm flattered. I'd love to cook it for them personally."

See all 117 CommentsWho cares if Cindy used other''''s recipes? Many cooks do--that''''s why so many cookbook authors are famous. It is not plagARIZING to cite a famous recipe as one''''s "favorite recipe" and since Cindy was not writing a term, research paper or publishing, she should not have to cite every single source or use ibid and other notations to point out she did not think of them herself. Favorite recipes right? Not original?

1. forgo
2. speeches
3. Who''s
If she did indeed give speeches to suspend the idea of college for a while, that in no way excuses your decision to forgo an elementary school education.
On another note, and to me and those who may end up supporting McCAin if our Dem candidate loses--is something far more relevant: Does Cindy actually cook? And if so, what type of clothing and meals does a woman utilize when one of the public names bestowed by her husband to her is "****"?
After all, if McCAin see''s her as a ****, when is she ever on her feet in private, instead of continually on her back?

The one who told her husband it would be fun to "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" ?

Do you really think Stepford Wife Princess Cindy cooks that stuff? Hardly. It''s all a LIE to make her look more domestic and motherly. The truth is she''s a rich daddy''s little girl who inherited everything from her parents beer distributorship, cheated with John McCain while he was married to his first wife, and stole drugs from her own charity and then threatened it''s head if he went public with the story. It''s not hard to find the actual facts, but the mainstream news just won''t cover them.
Then McCain''s campaign has the nerve to blame this whole thing on an overzealous intern who gets fired. Welcome to big business, big media politics as usual.
The WT editor seemed...........uh.....confused with such a novel idea.
The WT guest seemed unprepared to answer such a straight-forward question.
He spun. Mumbled. Was lost.
Such is the state of the MSM Spin Media.
At what time do they really have knowledgable, non-talking-point-spewing guests who will talk about what affects our real lives and not engage in minutia which means nothing to how we survive day to day?
Glock4me - Cindy McCain is of the Elite - an heiress to beer money who has never had to be like you or me - paying bills, juggling children and a job and a house. She has had all of the favors, time and money in the world.
She has never had to work in her life. She is a Trophy Wife who absconded with a married man who''s wife raised 3 children and waited for him during Nam.
She has never had an empty checking account, hungry children and a burst pipe or a disabled car. Never.
Michelle Obama was raised in a one-bedroom apartment in Chicago, and is a self-made woman who went to Princeton and Harvard, and has lived amongst us real people, not the heiresses and heirs of the top 1,000 families who run our country.

As a Dem I could have voted for the John McCain that was running in 07. But now that he has to pander the Republican base on issues like tax cuts and how to handle the war I''m not sure I can vote for the 08 John McCain. Come on, the guy voted against all of Bush%u2019s tax cuts then in 08 he suddenly agrees with them. PANDERING!!!
I''m not thrilled with my parties'' choices either. I%u2019m afraid this November I''ll have to step into the booth, hold my nose and vote.
All we have to do is let Hillary and Obama destroy each other by showing the world why neither of them are qualified to be President off the United States.
I am SO enjoying watching the Democrat Party self destructing!
