Tejano Singer Navaira's Condition Upgraded
Doctors said Wednesday that Tejano singer Emilio Navaira's condition has been updated to fair, KHOU-TV reports.
Navaira, who has been hospitalized at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center ever since an Easter Sunday bus accident in Houston, remains in a coma.
The Grammy-winning singer suffered severe injuries when he was thrown through the windshield of the tour bus he was driving.
Doctors said the injuries Navaira suffered are in the area of the brain that controls speech.
So far, doctors have performed two brain surgeries, but until he comes out of the coma, they will not know how much damage may have been done. Doctors say they are unable to tell how aware Navaira is of those around him. They will have more details on the 45-year-old's condition on Friday.
