"Dancing With The Stars" Retires Presley

(CBS)  At 62, Priscilla Presley was the oldest competitor this season on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars." After receiving the lowest combination of judges scores and viewer votes Tuesday, Presley was sent into retirement.

"This has been an incredible experience. It is life changing," Presley said after learning she was being sent home. "I did things that I didn't think I could do.

Presley went on to mention that she's been inundated with inquiries about her supposed psychic hotline, which she talked about in a taped segment aired on the April 1 show. The segment was actually an April Fool's gag in which each of the celebrity contestants discussed their "hobbies." As Presley pointed out, "somebody forgot to say April Fools!"

Monday night, Presley danced a rumba that received a lukewarm reception from the judges who gave her a score of 21 out of 30. Judge Len Goodman said that he was disappointed with her performance and that the dance "lacked spontaneity."

Joining Presley in the bottom two lowest vote-getters Tuesday was Chilean actor Cristian De La Fuente. His stiff rumba the night before earned him a score of 23 from the judges.

The results show also featured the second week of the children's ballroom dancing competition. The first pair, both 10, performed a lively jive and the second couple - a 10-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl - performed an adorable cha-cha-cha routine. The latter couple won and will return to the program at a later date.

Grammy-winning Latin alternative outfit Ozomatli performed while four of the professional couples danced a mix of mambo and samba with a little bit of partner-changing rueda moves thrown in for good measure.

Singer-songwriter James Blunt performed his latest single, "Carry You Home," while an adagio couple showed off a few death-defying moves.

The competition continues next Monday night with the remaining seven stars including pro football player Jason Taylor, Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi, R&B singer Mario, and actors Shannon Elizabeth, Cristian de la Fuente, Marlee Matlin and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

I hate to see any of them go.Love the show, love the tenacity of the celebrities to go through such a grueling dance, and they do it so well, some better than others, but what a shame after all that work,they get booted out.I wish they would total the judges scores, and get so many points for the most phone call scores ,and at the end, the one with the most points wins.

Well, I still like Marissa. I know she is not the best dancer, but she has a great personality and really works hard.

Gotta give her credit for stepping outside her comfort zone!!! It was painful watching her tolerate the spotlight. She proved she has the guts to do anything she puts her mind to, but I''m glad she''s going to be allowed to retreat into her privacy once again.

I don''t care who gets eliminated as long as Etina (not sure about the spelling) does not. She is a goddess and one terrific professional dancer. Any celebrity that ends up partnering with her should count their lucky stars.
