Caught On Tape: Woman Fights Thug

Police in Washington state are looking for the man who stabbed a motel clerk three-times last week.

The dramatic incident was caught on surveillance tape.

Tammarie Jones, a 41-year-old grandmother, was behind the front desk of a motel in Kent, Wash. Tuesday night when a man wielding a huge knife and wearing a knit cap to cover his face leapt over the counter and demanded money.

Jones and security expert Bill Stanton spoke about it on The Early Show Monday with co-anchor Harry Smith.

Jones said she remembered thinking, "He's not gettin' nothing" as she struggled valiantly.

Jones suffered a wound to her back and two to her legs.

The perp knows that he is going to commit the crime, the victim doesn''t. That means that the perp is prepared for the situation, while the victim requires time to assess the situation and act. The odds of victims having the presence, and the time, to effectively protect themselves is probably a long shot. Maybe it''s better than nothing, but the possibility that a perp could disarm someone and shoot them with their own weapon is very real, as is the possibility that a citizen using the gun might miss and injure or kill an innocent bystander. I''m tired of libs telling me that guns are designed to kill people, as if I will hear this and have a great moment of liberal clouded thinking. Of course guns are designed to kill people... that is why I have them... to kill - thereby stopping - potential evil people from harming me or my loved ones. It is a tactic that has been around for quite a while now. Even the police have been known to use it.; reply
