Inventor Tells 60 Minutes He Hopes To Live Long Enough To See Machine Cure Humans

What if we told you that a guy with no background in science or medicine - not even a college degree - has come up with what may be one of the most promising breakthroughs in cancer research in years?

Well it's true, and if you think it sounds improbable, consider this: he did it with his wife's pie pans and hot dogs.

His name is John Kanzius, and as correspondent Lesley Stahl first reported last April, he's a former businessman and radio technician who built a radio wave machine that has cancer researchers so enthusiastic about its potential they're pouring money and effort into testing it out.

Here's the important part: if clinical trials pan out - and there's still a long way to go - the Kanzius machine will zap cancer cells all through your body without the need for drugs or surgery and without side effects. None at all. At least that's the idea.

The last thing John Kanzius thought he'd ever do was try to cure cancer. A former radio and television executive from Pennsylvania, he came to Florida to enjoy his retirement.

"I have no business being in the cancer business. It’s not something that a layman like me should be in, it should be left to doctors and research people," he told Stahl.

"But sometimes it takes an outsider," Stahl remarked.

"Sometimes it just - maybe you get lucky," Kanzius replied.

It was the worst kind of luck that gave Kanzius the idea to use radio waves to kill cancer cells: six years ago, he was diagnosed with terminal leukemia and since then has undergone 36 rounds of toxic chemotherapy. But it wasn't his own condition that motivated him, it was looking into the hollow eyes of sick children on the cancer ward at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

"I saw the smiles of youth and saw their spirits were broken. And you could see that they were sort of asking, 'Why can't they do something for me?'" Kanzius told Stahl.

"So they started to haunt you. The children," Stahl asked.
"Their faces. I still remember them holding on their Teddy bears and so forth," he replied. "And shortly after that I started my own chemotherapy, my third round of chemotherapy."

Kanzius told Stahl the chemotherapy made him very sick and that he couldn't sleep at night. "And I said, 'There’s gotta be a better way to treat cancer.'"

It was during one of those sleepless nights that the light bulb went off. When he was young, Kanzius was one of those kids who built radios from scratch, so he knew the hidden power of radio waves. Sick from chemo, he got out of bed, went to the kitchen, and started to build a radio wave machine.

"Started looking in the cupboard and I saw pie pans and I said, 'These are perfect. I can modify these,'" he recalled.

His wife Marianne woke up that night to a lot of banging and clamoring. "I was concerned truthfully that he had lost it," she told Stahl.

"She felt sorry for me," Kanzius added.

"I did," Marianne Kanzius acknowledged. "And I had mentioned to him, 'Honey, the doctors can't-you know, find an answer to cancer. How can you think that you can?'"

That's what 60 Minutes wanted to know, so Stahl went to his garage laboratory to find out.

Here's how it works: one box sends radio waves over to the other, creating enough energy to activate gas in a fluorescent light. Kanzius put his hand in the field to demonstrate that radio waves are harmless to humans.

"So right from the beginning you're trying to show that radio waves could activate gas and not harm the human-anything else," Stahl remarked. "'Cause you're looking for some kind of a treatment with no side effects, that's what's in your head."

"No side effects," Kanzius replied.

As promising as this device is, the fact is that as long as the big drug companies in America make billions of dollars TREATING diseases, we will never see CURES for anything!

After all, if you cure someone, they don''t need to buy your drugs anymore.

There''s nothing new about radiologic cancer therapy. What''s different about this is that it may get around the problem of specificity. Other uses of the electromagnetic spectrum hit relatively broad areas and can kill good cells while still not reaching all the cancer cells. It''s the use of targeted nanotechnology that will make this work, if it works. I get tired of hearing the nonsense that drug companies don''t want to cure cancer or AIDS or whatever. It makes no sense. The company that creates a real cure will reap huge profits and beat its competition to a pulp. And cancer won''t stop happening so the market will continue. That company will own the market for many years. Moreover, there are dozens of other terrible diseases that need attention and which will product profits. Nobody wants cures more than big pharma because true cures will mean record profits. Steve McQueen thought he could beat mesothelioma, by going to Mexico and using non-traditional treatments that used coffee enemas and laetrile, and in the end he died. At 50, he had two heart attacks following surgery to remove a metastatic tumor in his stomach. My wife has had other problems, such as pulmonary embolism''s caused by deep vein thrombosis (clots), which could be related to massive dosages of radiation. Who knows, the long term effect. She also just recently had a 10cm tumor removed, which was made more difficult by having to take coumadin daily and her ovaries tucked for the radiation she had. It destroyed her thyroid and she needed her spleen removed. I know I''m in the upper 5% in terms of intelligence and her doctors are probably too, do you think something as simple as this cancer cure would be ignored, when we''re all equally affected by this scourge?

Somehow, this statement leads me to doubt your claim. If you were in the top 5%, you would be able to understand that intelligence is only a measure of the information you have access to, whether in your brain, or in your computer.

Information is intelligence, knowing how to use intelligence is wisdom. Do you possess more information than 95% of the world''s population?

Seeing as how quantum physics is nothing more than the study of mathematical abstractions to explain the nature of matter and energy in the universe, and is no more "intelligent" than an aboriginal forest dwellers knowledge of how best to survive in their own environment, it is highly doubtful.

This seems to be an issue of nanotechnological advancement. If they can perfect particle migration to target cells, it would seem a simple matter to then irradiate them. I would have some doubts, however, that some heat transfer could not occur to healthy cells. The hot dog was cool at one end and hot on the other, but there''s a lot of dog in between. If I have cancer, I certainly want cured. But being cooked from the inside isn''t a solution. The whole thing revolves around specificity.

This reminds me of the Australian Dr. John Holt MB, ChB, FRCS, FRCR, DMRT, DobstRCOG who used 454MHz radio waves to treat over 35000 cancer patients with some success as was reported on Australian TV. Holt has now retired, but his methods are now undergoing clinical trials in Perth and Dublin.

Royal Rife cured many types of cancer in the 1940''s and 1950''s using radio waves to hit the resonant frequencies of the cells, causing them to shatter like wine glasses - leaving surrounding healthy cells unharmed. I''m sorry, if I was perceived as an elitist in my statement about my Intel. I will retract that statement, as to not offend anyone. My wife is quite plainly, the love of my life. I can''t imagine living 1 minute without her. I spent many hundreds of hours researching everything related to her illness''s and many forms of cancer. I spent quite a bit of time researching this particular treatment and found it unfounded. I have no stake in any pharmaceutical company, and would be ecstatic if any cure was found for any metastatic cancer. What is unique about the process envisioned by John Kanzius is the frequency of the radio waves employed. Past attempts used Very High Frequencies (VHF) and above, which caused ionization of cells, not unlike a microwave oven. Mr. Kanzius successfully heated cells in the High Frequency range (HF), in and around 13 MHz, using the emitters he fashioned from the pie pans.

According to a story published elsewhere, he was later able to secure a sample of carbon nanotubes, following his earlier hot dog experiments. To the amazement of many, he was able to boil water with the carbon nanotubes mixed in. This behavior was totally unexpected by researchers, as the nanotubes are far too small to be resonant at those frequencies. An explanation of how these particles heat at these low frequencies has not been made public to my knowledge.

As carbon nanotubes have not been approved for human research, gold nanotubes will probably be used, if and when tests are conducted on humans. Early reports indicate that healthy test tissue within 1 millimeter of the treated tissue suffered no damage by the process.

You shouldn''t feel bad at all. Wet blankets are very necessary. However, the nanotubes don''t just remain inside the body. They are water soluble. Shortly after the procedure is over, the body just breaks them down; they never have to be collected or removed.

So, it''s hard to say what the nature of their assimilation would be. If cancer recurs and further treatments are given, would a body accustomed to the process absorb them faster ... negating any benefit of future treatment? When human testing begins, I hope it is relegated to only those where the terminal nature of the cancer is imminent.

TO RESEARCHERS- If you determine the frequency of a healthy cell, as well as that of a cancer cell in the same host, can you arrive at the vibration/frequency that would destroy a cancer cell without nano particles being introduced for location-sensitive tumors? A routine scanning device can be created to identify the frequency of a cancerous cell/cells by simply passing it over areas of the body.

The radio machine sounds very interesting. But I was wondering, since it is the metal that is injected into the cancer that is heated up by the radio waves, what about the metal that is in the body already such as iron which is in the blood. Wont the radio waves heat up the iron in the blood and any other part of the body that has trace metals.
