"How I Met Your Mother" Producer Says He's Open To The Idea

(AP)  An executive producer for "How I Met Your Mother" says he's open to having Britney Spears return for another cameo.

"We always said, 'You know, if her character pops, we'll bring her back,"' Carter Bays told The Associated Press on Thursday. "I thought she was great. I was very proud of that episode."

Spears, 26, garnered good reviews for her guest starring role as a goofy receptionist in the March 24 episode of the cult CBS sitcom. The show ended with Spears' character flirting with womanizer Barney (Neil Patrick Harris).

On the following episode, which aired Monday, the show introduced a "mystery woman" who's been sabotaging Barney's usually successful attempts to pick up ladies.

Asked if Spears might turn out to be the saboteur, Bays said: "Could be. There's no reason why not." He also suggested actress Sarah Chalke, who guest starred alongside Spears.

Bays said it was surreal to see Spears on the set.

"It was totally weird. ... I think we have a very, like, kind of Midwestern homey vibe here on the show, and it was strange to suddenly have helicopters circling," he said.

So will she or won't she come back?

"I don't know," he said. "I don't know the answer to that."

Come on now ... I saw the episode and Britney really wasn''t that good. Her role was minor, her squeaky voice was annoying, and, if that was actually looked upon as good acting, we need to get rid of sitcoms and go to reality shows. Sarah Chalke was the hit of that episode - she showed more acting ability in her first line than Britney showed in the entire show. Britney''s only positive was that she was sober and appeared to be wearing underwear. Bring back Sarah!!

I think you looked at the episode with your mind already made up...

I watched and kept my mind open and thought it was very good. I enjoyed it and she did great...

Now - that said - many people have different opinions - I believe the majority agree with me.

The show is a bit quirky and I thought she fit in well with the other actors. I am rooting for her to overcome her problems from the past and wishing her well.

It is a shame that people are hoping to see her fail...

I think Spear''s did a fantastic acting job on that show. I hope she makes more appearances !! And Sarah Chalke did a great job too !!! The two girls played off each other in a smooth way. I''d LOVE to see them both on the show again and again !!! Great job girls !!!!

And one more thing I want to add. I''m a grandma and I feel that Britney deserves a second chance at making her life happy. Just as you or anyone else does. She made a wrong turn in her life and is trying to make her life better. If she can do that,then it will be better for her children too ! Give this girl a break as you would like to have one for yourself if things went bad for you.

Well, g.o.d knows she can''t sing and sitting behind a desk, we can''t see her fat a.r.s.e. I have a bit more intelligence than to sit at home on the couch and watch a mind-melting sitcom so I''ll never even see it. Sounds like a winner!

Oh yeah pollroller1, I''m sure all of us have abandoned and neglected our children, faked mental illness to get sympathy and have families who s.u.c.k off of our countless millions for a year while an unscrupulous manager drugs us.

The only mistake I ever made was not leaving my oldest child''s father sooner LOL You are a riot!
