(CBS)  New rule of thumb for those on celebrity couples watch: don't jump to any conclusions.

For the second time this week, rumors have run rampant about a celebrity marriage, first with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and now with Beyonce and Jay-Z.

People.com first reported that - according to an unnamed source - Knowles, 26, and 38-year-old Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter, filed for a marriage license in the village of Scarsdale, N.Y.

On April Fool's Day, no less.

Tuesday afternoon, People.com updated their story with more details from an unnamed eyewitness.

The Scarsdale county clerk has not returned requests for comment by The Showbuzz. Knowles' publicist told The ShowBuzz that "there is no comment" on the story.

Star magazine has an "exclusive" quoting another source who gave more details, with tales of the couple pulling up in a caravan of Escalades to obtain their license.

Rolling Stone's music blog had a link Tuesday morning to UsMagazine.com, which had supposedly confirmed the story. But in less than two hours the story was removed from UsMagazine.com.

The Associated Press hasn't moved anything on the report, and TMZ - a site known for tracking down copies of legal documents - has been silent on the story.

So far People.com and Star are the only sites to claim their own sources for the report. All other outlets are sourcing People.

The marriage license rumor comes on the heels of a rumor over the weekend that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married in New Orleans. That story set off an online battle between various media outlets, all of whom set out to either confirm or debunk the story, which originally appeared on Star magazine's Web site. By Monday afternoon, Star had retracted the story.

Turned out the couple was in Austin, not New Orleans, at the time.

OK! magazine's site speculated that the rumors were set off by a lavish wedding in the Big Easy that was thrown by a local wealthy family and not the famous Hollywood power couple.

Rich & famous women don''t care about looks. Power turns them on. What can you do for them & their career?

Regular women don''t marry men for their looks. They couldn''t care less about that. They went after the hunks in their single days. When they get married, their ideal is a man with wealth, power & status. That turns them on.

Women don''t ask, "What does he look like?"
They ask, "What does he do?"

Men ask, "What does she look like?" They don''t give a d a m n what her job/career is.

The marriage of the century. They''ll grow old together.

"Ghetto trash"? Hmm... I don''t get that from Beyonce. Comes across as classy to me. Maybe it''s an act. She cleans up real good. Oh mommy.

As beautiful as she is you would think that she could find a better looking boyfriend.

Good luck to them both, if it''s not really a publicity stunt.

Beyonce is one tasty babe. Stay single. You got lots of time to get married.

Rich & famous women can only be with rich & famous men.
