(AP)  Perhaps the analogy was inevitable: Hillary Rodham Clinton as Rocky Balboa, the scrappy underdog boxer from Philadelphia memorably depicted in the 1976 Oscar-winning film. Even if Rocky did lose his first big fight.

Addressing a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Tuesday, the former first lady and New York senator said that she, like Rocky, wasn't a quitter.

Recalling a famous scene on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Clinton said that ending her presidential campaign now would be as if "Rocky Balboa had gotten halfway up those art museum steps and said, 'Well, I guess that's about far enough.'"

“Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up. And neither do the American people,” Clinton said.

She promised the labor group that as president, she would create 3 million new jobs through investments in public infrastructure like roads and bridges.

Clinton also told the audience that as first lady she had forcefully battled NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, even as her husband was aggressively pushing for its passage through Congress. The agreement is widely unpopular with organized labor because it helped clear the way for many blue collar jobs to be moved to Mexico and other countries with cheaper labor costs.

“I did speak out and oppose NAFTA,” she said. “I raised a big yellow flag and said 'I don't think this will work.”'

How strongly Clinton worked against NAFTA while in the White House remains a matter of some dispute. Former aides to Bill Clinton have said she was skeptical about the agreement, but in large measure because she felt that it conflicted with her effort to pass health care reform.

Speaking to reporters later, Clinton insisted she had voiced objections to the substance of the proposal, not just its timing.

“I was in many meetings starting in the '92 campaign - I raised questions,” she said. “I did it in the White House again, in meetings with as many different audiences in the White House in the decision-making process that I could speak to. But the president made a decision. As part of an administration, I believe you support the president, and I did.”

Clinton also warned the labor audience that Democrats won't have an easy time against Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain in the general election, and implied that her rival for the nomination, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, may not be up to the task.

“The Republicans aren't going to give up without a fight,” Clinton said. “And no matter how beautiful your rhetoric, the Republicans aren't going to turn off their attack machine - it doesn't have an off-switch.”

“But one thing you know about me is that when I say I'll fight for you, I'll fight for you,” she said. “I know what it's like to stumble. I know what it means to get knocked down. But I've never stayed down, and I never will.”

In recent days, Clinton has made an issue of calls from some leading Democrats for her to abandon the race. Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy, a prominent Obama backer, last week called on her to step aside, arguing that she was never going to win enough delegates and suggesting that she should bow out in “the interests of a Democratic victory in November.”

“Now, this is one of the most important elections we've ever had,” Clinton said Tuesday. “There is so much at stake. But just as it's getting time to vote here in Pennsylvania, Senator Obama says he's getting tired of it. His supporters say they want it to end.”

Obama disputed that notion in an interview Tuesday.

“You know we had one supporter, Pat Leahy, say something and they've been, you know, working that pretty hard for the last week now,” Obama told Pittsburgh radio station KDKA. “I've said for the last three days that I think that Senator Clinton should stay in the race as long as she wants. ... She has every right to compete and I'm looking forward to competing against her.”

Bill and Hillary were the first baby boomers in the White House. As such, it is fitting to look at that game of our youth %u2013 PONG.

Ping: While out campaigning Hillary is aiming for the blue collar workers telling them she understands
their fears trying to meet the mortgage.
Pong: The Clintons have made $108 million since leaving the White House. That is roughly $1,560 per hour -- enough to pay most people%u2019s mortgage.

Ping: When campaigning Hillary says Healthcare must be resolved and nobody should ever be without Health Insurance Coverage.
Pong: Despite the $108 Million Income Hillary has not paid her workers health insurance to Aetna for 3 months.

Ping: Hillary came begging her Americans contributions for her campaign with pleas aimed at "fellow sisters" to contribute $3 million absolutely needed in 72hours %u2013 every $20 counts.%u201D
Pong: Hillary has earned $112,000 during those same 72 hours given the Clinton%u2019s income since leaving the Presidency.

Ping: Romney contributed millions to his campaign.
Pong: Hillary has only loaned her campaign the $5 million. She expects Joe Sixpack to pay her back. That%u2019s income redistribution -- Clinton style.

During the coming weeks we will continue to investigate that game with crazy turns and twists Ponging with the Clintons.

The American people should be concern about Bill Clinton and Belinda Stronach. The last thing we need is Hillary in the White House and another Monica Lewinsky episode. She needs to knock Bill out!

And THIS is exactly how Hillary plans to run America--INTO THE GROUND owing everyone and simply claiming that we are "good for it" referring to repayment of the money.

Anybody see the proposal she has made to Pennsylvania to keep jobs there? to spend MORE billions just like with her UHC that we don''''t have?

Know what happens when the American government floats or loans money to people it does not have? They BORROW the money. Know why that is bad? Because we don''''t have a monetary instrument behind the money--we pledge our future earnings as capital..this means we are betting on the robustness of an economy that is in the toilet.

So when we do that...our INFLATION goes UP, UP UP and the value of our dollar gets lower and lower and lower. This means we pay a LOT more for everything from food to gas to services and our dollar buys less.

People try to say this is good, because it makes exporting easier--except we operate w/ a HUGE trade deficit, meaning people don''''t import as much from us as they sell TO us. Which means we still pay more and more, and more while making less.

so Clinton''''s philosophy is to be like Wimpy from Popeye and will "Gladly pay the world Tuesday" for mooching burgers today. Because either she tells whoppers or just wants to buy them--but either way--America cannot afford this person.

Shrillary compares herself to Rocky? Oh, this is getting just too easy!

Does she have Rocky''s eloquence? Check

Rocky''s ability to persevere when all hope is lost? Check. Both too dumb to know when to quit.

Rocky''s boyish charms with the ladies? Yo, Adrienne! Check. (Old ladies in Hill''s case)

Rocky''s fashion sense? Check. Rocky might look better in a pantsuit though.

Rocky''s droopy eyelids (whole face in Shrill''s case)? Check.

Rocky''s success in his fight with Creed in the first movie? Check.

Yup, a lot of similarities between Shrillary and Rocky. Looking forward to her comparing herself to Rambo or the Terminator next.

Jeez, the Clinton campaign comes up with a new (but BS) line every day!

Another big lie about how she was against NAFTA (but really was for it - when it was good politics). What a silver tongue devil!!

Next she will be telling us she is Rocky Balboa (as she was under sniper fire in the rink)....

Lighten up, drbob. Hillary did not "fake heroism on the battefield". She never claimed she was on a battlefield. She was on the tarmac in Tuzla and later tried ill-advisedly to make the story of her arrival more colorful and dramatic than it was. She shouldn''t have dressed it up like she did, but in NO WAY has she "dishonored" the brave service of the soldiers. Intentions MATTER, and she had no intention of dishonoring anyone with her story. Let it go.

Hillary is no heroic figure. The Clinton campaign ended when Hillary lied about Bosnia. Of all the exaggerations any American candidate can make, to fake heroism on a battlefield, to lie about dodging bullets, for all of those true heroes who were on the battlefields, some of whom dodged real bullets, some of whom took them, she has dishonored their brave service. For those who have helped Veterans recover from the horrors of the bullets on the battlefield, or have lived with family wounded and disabled by those bullets, Hillary''s repeated "misstatements" are unforgivable. They are in fact - Dishonor - that is worse than any lie!
