TREND: METALLIC DETAIL
From the runway to the real world, it's all about metallic! Just as metallic hues are "hot" in the world of fashion, they're becoming the hottest colors in cakes.
Cake #1: Metallic swirls: This square three-tiered cake will definitely grab your guests' attention with its eye-catching, rolled metallic fondant swirl detail. From Cheryl Kleinman Cakes
Cake # 2: Metallic brocade: Talk about "wow" factor, this cake is more than three-feet high! A beautiful medley of various shapes, this impressive eight-tiered cake will have everyone talking!
Using tiers really has to do with the number of guests and size and space of the venue. You want at least a three-tier cake. If you have a really big room, you might ask for a lot of height. If you want a cake that's really grand, go big and make some of the layers fake to save money. From Mark Joseph Cakes
TREND: MONOGRAM DETAIL
A new twist on monogram cakes is instead of using the couple's monogram as a cake "topper." The monogram would then be incorporated into the design of the cake!
Cake #1: This is a four-tiered cake featuring green grosgrain ribbon detailing, with bundles of handmade sugar flowers with green leaves. The monogram detailing is actually a sugar plaque. From April Reed Cake Design
Cake #2: This is a pale silver blue three-tiered square cake that has a modern feel, personalized with the monogram. From Cheryl Kleinman Cakes
